Grimm and Fwupo

Unread postby Molokidan » Thu Oct 21, 2004 5:28 am

"---guh!" Grimm barely dodged Fwupo's next assault, stepping backwards quickly and bringing his hands up again to his face. "I see that my first techniques didn't work on you. . .you're beginning to frustrate me, Fwupo!" he shouted, bending down and stretching his arms out behind himself like a crane. "If you haven't already figured out, I am a master of over 50 different styles of martial arts! I will just have to keep trying them on you until one fits! Here's my Crane Style!" he shouted, spinning downwards and bringing his arm around to clothesline poor Fwupo.

"...fascinating. I did not know your words held quite this much power...." Adarl comments to Theodarus. While he felt some pang of sympathy for Zachary, there was nothing he could do right now for the man's pain. So he simply watched the current match, intrigued by Fwupo's strategy thus far.

"Disabling his opponent first... hmmm... I suppose this could work." Adarl comments aloud to himself, "One must wonder, however, if Fwupo will have anything left to fight with, if he succeeds in putting the old man out of commision."

"My mother can dance every great dance created-kupo," the moogle shot back as he leaned backwards under Grimm's attack. "That doesn't mean she's any good at them-kupo."

Leaning his weight back, rolling with the force of the blow if necessary, Fwupo shot one hand out to catch himself and performed a quick backflip to take him out of range of his opponent. He would need a moment to compose a new strategy. The most important factor was figuring out where the judge was in relation to his opponent...

Zachary seems a bit dazed at the moment. Perhaps the INTENSE PAIN that he had just experienced might have something to do with it. Then again, his arm works again, so he ought to be happy. Too bad he isn't 'cuz he's dazed.

Some Geometry

Unread postby Molokidan » Thu Oct 21, 2004 6:05 pm

Grimm advanced on Fwupo, in his Crane Stance, his arms arched diagonally backwards, waiting to strike.

Grimm was coming towards Fwupo on his right side, and on the opposite side, Fwupo's left, like some odd right triangle, the bat man was standing, observing the fight.

The most interesting part, however, was that one of the holes from Zachary's little tiff was in between Grimm and the bat man, or rather, across their "hypotenuse."

The line between Fwupo and Grimm was shortening, though, with every second Fwupo spent thinking.

Bah! Geometry...

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Fri Oct 22, 2004 12:16 am

The triangle in Fwupo's mind was not that of a right triangle, however, but rather that of a crescendo on a sheet of music, leading to the climax of this dance...

Fwupo stepped lightly, letting Grimm close his distance, but all the while slowling backing towards the judge. The key would be avoiding getting hit until he got close enough to the flying one, and then...

But it wouldn't do to think that. Instead, Fwupo let the music keep flowing through his mind, waiting until the time was right...

Closing In

Unread postby Molokidan » Fri Oct 22, 2004 5:00 am

Fwupo shuffled backwards towards the bat man, who watched him, grinning.

What's he going to do? the judge thought to himself, licking his lips. I'm having a hard time picking up any intentions from him. . .the old man, on the other hand, is definitely going to attack Fwupo soon.

Fwupo backed up some more, and then Grimm suddenly changed stances. "That's it! No more games!" he shouted, bringing his knee up and curling his fists. "Venomous Snake stance!"

With that, he dashed straight at Fwupo, who was now about 4 feet in front of the judge.

Finishing Strike...?

Unread postby JoshuaDurron » Fri Oct 22, 2004 10:26 am

(OOC: Whee! One of the famous Lorr's Extra Complicated Combo Attacks, entire sequence depending on the success of the first move...)

Fwupo stepped up his pace, moving a step forward and suddenly orienting himself so that he would be cheek to cheek with Grimm, as if he was a dancing a tango, complete with one outstretch paw on Grimm's leading arm, the other on his shoulder. If Grimm were to look over, he would find Fwupo grinning madly.

He wouldn't have any time to notice any more than that, though, for as soon as his paw was on Grimm's back, he would give the man a mighty shove, forcing him forward while the moogle lept up to stomp on his back.

But that was just the grace note, the teaser to the real finish. Using Grimm as a springboard, he shot into the air, flipping forward once to bring his heel down on any random part of the judge's anatomy that was accessable.

The End of the Second Preliminary Round

Unread postby Molokidan » Fri Oct 22, 2004 9:42 pm

Grimm was caught totally on surprise, and went with Fwupo's dance moves blindly, unsure of what else to do, as his opponent was clearly in another world.

Grimm went down hard, and Fwupo danced onto his back, leaping off into the air.

What's he doing?! the bat man shouted, inside his head. I can't pick up any signals at all! It's as if he's totally absorbed in his own world!

Suddenly, the intrepid Moogle flipped around in the air, bringing his legs down hard on the bat man's shoulder, before he even knew what hit him.

Fwupo rolled off smoothly, coming to a stop as the music in his head ended its finale.

"Heh. . ." the bat man laughed, rubbing his shoulder absently. "I guess you win, then, Fwupo. And your team is free to proceed into the tower."

"Dammit!!" Grimm shouted, slamming his hand into the ground. "This isn't fair! That had to be an accident! He didn't intend to do that!"

"That's exactly how he won." the bat man grinned. "Make your way back to the lift, Fwupo, and your team may continue upwards."

Fwupo, feeling pretty good about himself, walked backwards onto the lift. All 5 of the green lights lit up again, and it began to rise up into the remainder of the chamber.

"Damn you all!!!" Grimm shouted. "If I ever see you again, Moogle, you're mincemeat!"

And that was the last the group ever saw of Jessika, Krist, Roto, Lyle, and Grimm.

********

After another twenty minutes, the team felt the cool of some sort of central air conditioning, the churn of mechanical instruments, and some commotion in the upper hallways.

Then the lift came to a stop.

The group was standing at the entrance of a long white hallway, made out of what looked like hard panels painted a cream color. It was an arched hallway with electric light bulbs lined across the top.

Suddenly, in front of them, appeared the small mage they had seen only a few hours before, floating on his crystal ball in the air.

"Welcome." Momo said. "You are the final team to make entry into the tower." he said, bowing his head. "Congratulations. I assume you were one of the two teams in the Bonus Round. I applaud your victory. . .I know the judge of that round, Raphael, is rather tricky."

With that, Momo procured five white circles with pins on the back, from his cloak. They were numbered.

Adarl's read '96.'
Zachary's read '97.'
Fwupo's read '98.'
Theodarus's read '99'.
Jemyle's read '100.'

"You have now successfully been entered into the tournament." he said. "These are your registration numbers." he handed one of each to the five men, and then bowed his head. "It is around 6:00 pm right now. You have until 9 am tommorow morning to rest and gain your strength for the tournament. The first floor are your bunk rooms, who each of you will be sharing with another person. There are 50 rooms in total, each spreading out under five hallways. At the end of each hallway is a stairway to the next floor. To figure out which room you are in, simply look outside the door for your corresponding number, and then slip your number into the slot on the door. You should gain immediate access.

"On the next floor lies the spa/restaurant area. There are tons of different baths, massage parlors, and medical assistant rooms for any injuries you might have sustained in the previous trials. You may also purchase meals and drinks at the restaurants we have.

"The final floor is the training area. There are sparring rooms of all different types of terrains and conditions, in case some of you wish to brush up on your skills before tommorow. You are free to use them all. Do note that at the end of the entire training hallway, you will see two golden doors. These are the doors to the tournament area. They will remain locked during the entire night. Also, there is no 'lights-out' time or anything like that. You may sleep at your own leisure. Please enjoy yourselves, and good luck in the tournament." Momo said, bowing his head and dissapearing once again.

And so, the five, who now noticed that the green handcuffs were gone, were left alone in the entrance to the first hallway of the Dormitory Floor.

"Well, I guess this is it, guys." Jemyle said, pinning his registration number on his shirt and waving his hand goodbye. "Thanks for helping me out all the way up here. But I guess we part our ways now."

"What a hectic few hours. I wonder who I'm rooming with? I'll see you all later."

Zachary thus bustles off towards his room, checking to see where number 96 is sleeping. He decides that after he goes to his room and claims some territory, he'll try to scrounge up some food and then hit the gym to work the kinks out of his wrist. Maybe he'll find a healer somewhere to alleviate the problems.

Zachary's Bunkmate

Unread postby Molokidan » Fri Oct 22, 2004 9:54 pm

Zachary wandered around the hallways until he came onto Room #38, where numbers '57' and '96' were bunked. He popped open the door, revealing what looked to be a standard hotel room, with a television, bathroom/shower, twin beds, microwave, etc.

Sitting on the bed closest to the window was a small, young, adolescent boy with ice blue hair and green eyes. His skin was incredibly pale, and he was wearing light brown clothes.

He turned his head to Zachary, and bowed. "So you are my roommate." he said, gently. "It is a pleasure to meet you."

Zachary looked at the kid, oddly, wondering if he hadn't seen him somewhere before. . .

Jemyle's Bunkmate

Unread postby Molokidan » Fri Oct 22, 2004 10:06 pm

"I believe I saw you before at the beginning of the Second Preliminary Round." the boy said, pointing at Zachary. "One of your teammates tried to interfere with another team that we were currently sniping out, but our team leader chased you away eventually. Oh yes--!" he said, snapping his fingers suddenly. "I almost forgot. My name is Christopher Hollins." he said, nodding his head and extending a hand. "Let's be good bunkmates together."

*****

Meanwhile, Jemyle moved down the hallways, looking for his room. He eventually found it, where the door's label read '1' and '100'.

He gulped. "So I get to be mixed with the first guy who got here. . .?" he said. "Aw, man. . ."

He opened the door to see Averyl, the man dressed in all black, with long, flowing black hair, sitting on his bed, playing with a rubix's cube.

"Oh, hello. . ." Averyl said, smiling. "Do come in. It is lonely all by myself."

"Aw, shit. . ." Jemyle muttered under his breath. "I always gotta be with the freaks. . ."

No Bunkmate For Theo yet....

Unread postby wkz » Fri Oct 22, 2004 11:10 pm

As for Theodarus, he immediately headed towards the spas... In his opinion, the fastest way to relex and recover after hard work is to "cook" himself clean followed by crashing in his rooms in a coma-like state...

He would have also included "eating" in the list, but between the meatloafs he had on the platform earlier, and his ever thinning purse, he decided against it...

He did not even consider training up on his skills. After all, all his skills depends one way or the other on the target.

And there's the slight possibility there would be others watching the people in training..... and taking notes....

Theo Hits the Spas

Unread postby Molokidan » Fri Oct 22, 2004 11:21 pm

Theodarus walked down the long corridor of the Dormitory Floor, and headed up to the second floor.

At this, there was a Y-shaped hallway. A plaque at the crossroads read:

"Restaurants and Shops ~ Left
Health Spa ~ Right."

Remembering his purse, Theodarus opted for the right route, continuing down the pale white hallways until he came to a large open room.

The room itself was filled with tons of multi-colored doors, with steam billowing out from under some of them. There was a cute blonde-haired receptionist in a booth to the right, sitting, smiling, with her hands folded across the table. There was a number of health drinks, medicine, and other rejuvenating devices to be bought from behind the counter. She saw the tired Theodarus make his way into the large room, and spoke to him.

"Hello, sir." she said. "Would you be interested in one our massage parlors or hot springs? Or are you in need of medical attention?" she smiled, a pretty young girl with green eyes and perfect skin.

"The hot springs is the red door down there." she said, pointing ahead happily. Her blonde curls bounced with her head as she turned it, her red lipstick shining in the light. "You may borrow a towel from us if you promise not to steal it." she said, kicking her swivel chair backwards and grabbing a fluffy white towel from a rack behind the counter. As she moved backwards, Theo got a better look at her outfit. It was a tight white nurse's outfit, with a mid-sized skirt and big red crosses on the shoulders. She was quite the looker.

She rolled her chair back and handed him the towel. "Please don't steal it." she smiled. "Once you enter the hot springs, you may remove your clothing and store it in a locker. Then, you proceed from the dressing area into our large open bath." she said. "Oh, and while the ladies' hot springs is next door, it is seperated by a face, so no-o pee-king." she spoke in a singsongy voice, waving her finger.

"It has been... interesting... travelling with you." Adarl suddenly speaks up, taking his cloak and turning to the moogle, "May the better combatant win. I certainly look forward to facing you."

He then left for the bunk area, without looking back at his former teammate. He ran through everything he could remember during their brief journey together in his mind. There was the likely possibility they would all be adversaries once more during this tournament. He had no doubt in his mind the others were doing the same, recalling any techniques used by all throughout their two trials. To not do so would be a grave tactical error.

"Why should I peek, when I have this gorgeous piece of art right here to look at.." Theodarus grinned. "How about I come back after I'm done and we go have dinner or something?"

Without waiting for an answer, and with a bit of reluctance (more than a bit actually, but Theodarus would not be admitting it...) he turned away towards the indicated red door, towel in hand and relaxation in mind... and a few dreamy naughty thoughts in hi...."Stop that!" the intellectual part of him growled to himself.

The "manhood" part of him continued anyway....

Saffron Returns + Theo's Surprise

Unread postby Molokidan » Sat Oct 23, 2004 12:15 am

Adarl continued down the maze of hallways until he found his Room, #25, that housed '37' and '96'. He opened the door, and. . .

. . .there was standing Saffron Blackthorne, in one of the dorm's complimentary robes, pulling a microwaveable pizza out of the oven. The robe was open a small bit, and Adarl could see his muscular chest, and the beginnings of a tattoo, but he couldn't make out what the whole thing was. Saffron's armor and twin Bastard Swords sat on the bed, as if they were resting themselves.

He pulled out the pizza and turned to face his new bunkmate. "Oh, hey, it's you!" he said, smiling, as if he had just met a friend he hadn't seen for a while. "How's it going, man? Nice to see ya made it all the way up here! Come on inside, I'll heat you up a pizza."

****

(OOC: er....I meant fence. >_< Sorry.)

"I'd be delighted." the woman spoke softly, as Theo continued towards the door to the spa. Before he could open it, however, someone did it for him -- from the other side.

From out of the spa came a tall, blue-haired man, who looked at Theo with shifty brown eyes and then continued walking. He wasn't carrying a towel.

As he went to exit the room, the woman spoke to him softly. "Excuse me. . ." she said. "Where is your towel?"

"Uhh, I left it in there." the man said, continuing forward.

"I. . .I think you're lying!" the woman said, beginning to frown.

"Hey, leave me alone, lady, I have more important things to do than chat with you." he said, reaching for the door.

"You can't leave without giving me your towel!!" she shouted, and suddenly, her hair flew up as if someone had turned an industrial-sized fan on her. Her face began to distort and turn red, and large spikes began to grow out of her back. Fangs started to peek out of her mouth, and it enlarged to that of a hideous beast. Suddenly, there was a large drumming sound, and a fireball shot out of her mouth, slamming the man in the back and knocking him into the wall.

"....AHHH!" the man said, picking himself up, and staring at the woman before him. "ALRIGHT, ALRIGHT! CHILL OUT! HERE'S YOUR FREAKIN' TOWEL!!!" he shouted, tossing the large wet towel at her and then getting the hell out of there.

The woman reverted to how she was when Theo first entered, and then turned around and smiled at him. "Please enjoy your time in the spa." she said sweetly.

Unread postby wkz » Sat Oct 23, 2004 12:40 am

OOC: Like I said in IM, you evil, Evil, EVIL, EVIL, EVIL, EVIL GM *Sob*

One would be forgiven if he believes eyes can pop out of faces... especially if that person is looking at Theodarus right now. Eyes nearly popping out of the face, the normally tightly controlled face in your standard open-mouthed expression of shock, Theodarus stood as still as a statue at the doorway to the spas, staring at the "human" beauty.

"You know, its not nice to stare" Theodarus thought he heard from what apparently is a demoness/succubas. Immediately, two things occured: He turned towards the red doors, tripping and running headlong into the closed swinging door, yet managing to continue through it running. And in his thoughts he was screaming "Oh SHIT!! **$^$**!! How do you get out of a **#$^%** date with a **$^$%** succubas!!?!?"

Theodarus is definately NOT going to get his relaxing hot spring/spa at this rate...

Theodarus moved into the spa, feeling the hot steam hit his face and body. There were lockers lined down into a small corner, and as he looked straight in front of him, he could see the wooden dressing area cut off into the actual spa. It was created out of what looked to be all smooth rock, with tons of trees and ferns everywhere lining the steaming pool itself. The entire area was surrounded by bamboo, overgrown by vines and trees.

There was only one other person in the spa, an old man who was either blind or asleep, with a bunch of scars lining his bald head. He was sitting in the corner, his face half-submerged in the water.

"Likewise- Zachary Templeton. I certainly hope we won't be turbulent bunkmates." Zachary looks down at himself- covered in dirt and blood, bruised, tired, dirty, and worst of all, sweaty.
"Whoo, I must STINK. I think I'll head up to the health spa. Maybe I can find someone to launder my clothes, too. It was nice meeting you, Christopher. I'll undoubtebly see you later." Zachary waves at his roommate, after changing out of his duster and armor, then proceeds to head upstairs. He's sure to take his wallet with him, not because he doesn't trust Christopher, but because he remembers that he'll need to pay for a variety of services.

Theodarus eyed that corner warily; He couldn't see if the face is up or down, but after the shock from the demoness, he wouldn't be surprised if his bad luck continued onwards and provided him with a dead body to deal with.

He chose a locker at random, stashing everything except the towel in the locker (especially his notes, paper and writing equipment, which he took great care with) and got to the other corner of spa.

"Ahhhhhh....... " Theodarus sighed, as he slipped into the warm waters, while at the same time trying to forget events around him for the moment...

Fwupo's Roommate

Unread postby Molokidan » Sun Oct 24, 2004 6:47 am

Zachary left Christopher, heading up to the spas. He came into the same large multi-doored room that Theodarus had come to. The cute, blonde receptionist greeted him curtly. "Good evening, sir. How may I help you?"

****

Meanwhile, inside the spa, Theodarus had just lowered himself into the relaxing depths of the spa. The old man had so far, seemed to have taken no note of his arrival.

There was, however, something else on his mind. Because from over the fence, he could hear the voices of three girls, giggling loudly.

"...hey, stop that!" one shouted.

"You are so bad!" the other one said, and then three voices cracked up into giggles again.

*****

Fwupo entered his room, and was shocked at what he saw. Perched on the windowsill, looking out, was a man in torn jeans, a studded leather jacket, and amazingly spiky green hair. Balanced over his shoulder, like some kind of futuristic axe, was an electric guitar, with sharp, bladed curves on the body. He was holding the guitar by the head, which was more rounded than a standard guitar, almost like an oval, with the tuning pegs rounded and sticking out.

As Fwupo entered the room, he turned slightly, jingling his many earrings. "Hey. . .so you finally got here." he grinned, lighting his eerie face up. He had a pierced eyebrow, studded nose, two rings in two places on his lips, and was wearing a bit of black eyeshadow. He jumped down from the windowsill, tossing his guitar down onto his bed, and outstretched his hand, each finger covered with a different sort of jeweled ring, to shake Fwupo's. "You look like a pretty cool dude." he said. "The name's Riley."

With that, she picked up one of the many phones laying behind the desk, and said a few words into it that Zachary did not understand.

Riley

"Oh yeah, what would that be?" Riley said, looking the moogle over, and spotting his banjo. "Woah, so you play an instrument? Rad." he said. "Looks like you gotta few strings missing there, man. But a banjo. . .sweet! I haven't seen one like this in a long time!"

He motioned towards the guitar on his bed. "In case you haven't noticed yet, little buddy, I `play` the electric guitar."

Theodarus tried to relax in the spa... really he did. But Even with the relaxing effect of the hot water burning muscles loose, and all those misty steam causing hazy vision beyond a few paces, all that could not block out the continuous sounds and voices of the three girls beyond the fence.

Nope... no relaxing meditative rest time for Theodarus. Not even close. Instead, all kinds of thoughts went through his mind, with the intellectual part of him alternating from censoring choice bits, and/or switching off from disgust.

And if not for the memory of the demoness/succubas attendant, he would have seriously considered breaking a certain rule about peeking......

Who Says That Isn't a Sort of Meditation?

Unread postby Molokidan » Mon Oct 25, 2004 12:32 am

Theodarus listened the girls giggling, which soon died down into quiet murmurs.

Theodarus began to finally relax, letting himself soak up the steam and water in the tub.

That's when another person entered.

It was the dark-skinned man with braided hair that Theodarus had encountered with the group before, and then even earlier in the first preliminary match. He entered the pool, his goggles still on his face.

He waded in trough the smoke, obviously not taking notice of Theodarus yet.

"Ah Crap" Theodarus thought as he reflexively sunk his head below the edge tub (which also meant submerging most of his head underwater).

"Oh Big Fat Crap. Of all the people to appear... With my luck, I betcha the turban guy will also appear sometime soon... turban... hmm...."

In another of his sudden bursts of inspiration, he wrapped the towel around his head in an approximation of a turban/shaw/something. Anything to block his face from the archer's view.

But without any experience in any form of cloth-based headgear, he would be having a bad time wrapping it up...

Negi = 4-armed turban guy from earlier

The braided man made his way through the smoke. "Hey, Negi?" he said, peering over towards Theodarus' direction. "Negi, is that you? It's me, Kamome. What are you up to? And the hell is wrong with your turban?"

I'm expecting "A dragon eats you" sometime soon...

Theodarus immediately deduced who the archer was referring to, and the worse part of the whole matter is he had only heard Negi speak only once before....

Not even sure if he got the correct voice in his memories, he conditioned his voice, and tried to imitate the turban guy's voice through the wet cloth of the towel, "I'm meditating, until you interrupted me. I would like to be alone, please..."

"Meditating, eh?" Kamome moved closer to Theodarus, and squinted his eyes. "Hey, wait a second. . .it's YOU!" he shouted, leaning forward and ripping the turban off of Theo's head. "Hmph. I should have known."

Yup.... "A dragon eats you"

Theodarus gave himself a sigh, then held up both his hands in a gesture of surrender (especially after making sure Kamome does not carry any weapons at the moment) "Yup. It's me. I don't exactly want to see you either, right now when we should be resting for the next.... whatever it is that's coming up..."

"Come, we'll call a truce or something." Theodarus then purposefully rubbed his still-bruised cheek as a reminder of old happenings, "After all, you did say you wouldn't attack someone weaker than you?"

And almost immediately after the sarcasm-filled question, Theodarus continued, "Oh, and can I have my towel back? I wouldn't want to incur the wrath of the counter.... whatever she is" Kamome could very clearly see Theodarus shudder...

Kamome tossed the towel onto Theo's face. "I have no intention of hurting you at all. And I believe you already stated the reason why. But may I suggest. . .you do not try and mimic those whom you do not properly know?" he said, pointing out to Theodarus. "You're not very good."

He sat down a comfortable distance away from Theo, but still close enough so that they could talk quietly. "So, I assume you made it through the second preliminary round safely."

x_x; sorry, case of the 'meh' this weekend.

Unread postby FF Fanatic 80 » Mon Oct 25, 2004 8:46 am

To say Adarl was surprised at his current roommate would... somewhat cover his reaction as he entered the room. Annoyance would be another, some anger, irritation and... well, something else he tried very hard not to think about as he gazed at the half-dressed swordsman.

"...oh I am quite well... considering I was left for dead by someone. You?" he replies rather bluntly.

"It looks like you 'play' in more than one way-kupo. I've only figured out one way to use my banjo-kupo." The moogle took his banjo in his hands, carefully, and twanged it once or twice. As feared, it was somewhat out of tune, but that could be fixed... it was a good thing he carried extra strings. Although he was out three by now...
