Well, looks like we're just sharing all kinds of information with a random school newsletter editor now. One who just happened to show up immediately after Ellastic was arrested, detained, and apparently escaped? Even while real news outlets apparently have no idea any of this is going on?

After Sylvie mentions a secret identity, Max's eyes light up. Of course! That would explain everything! That's perfect! That's... completely freaking retarded. This isn't a Saturday morning cartoon, this is real friggin' life. Max is a little annoyed at himself for even considering the idea.

"Alright, alright, so clearly you know a frightening amount about Ellastic. So if you're so sure she didn't do it, maybe you have an alternate explanation for what happened? She was arrested on pretty compelling evidence, although it's mostly compelling because they're not sure how anyone could possibly mimic Ellastic like that."

"I still think maybe it was fake somehow." Sam frowns. "'Cause how else would they do it at all? It's not Ellastic, but no one else can stretch!"

He pauses, thinking for a bit. "Hey, what if it was some kinda...Ellastic robot? Like from issue 58! Someone built a remote control robot that can stretch to steal stuff and get Ellastic arrested!

"...Hey, how come she got put in a normal cell anyway, guys? Everyone here knows she can stretch. Maybe..." Sam lowers his voice, glancing about. "...Maybe Elly was kinda right, maybe they did want her to escape?"

"I guess I could see them doing that... "

Which, if we're taking the idea seriously, means the company is backing her on this, they're just not doing it openly because of all the trouble that would lead to. Presumably with the plan to clear her name while she's "missing", rather than handing her over to someone else.

"... but that means she'd have to lay low for a while. Crime in the Empire is still gonna increase. That's no good."

"I do," she huffed, her eyes narrowed, "And they never mentioned anything like that."

If Silvie didn't think she was suspicious before, she certainly thought she was now. Why would she mention something from the fanzines that clearly wasn't in it? Something here was realllly fishy.

Emily had been observing the conversation with... Well, a sort of bemused fascination seemed to sum it up. Still, they really ought to get things back on track, "You know, none of this is really helping us figure out whodunnit. Does Ellastic have any archenemies who aren't in jail? And not comic book supervillains," she noted. She was pretty sure most of Ellastic's rogues gallery didn't really exist. Some of them were just too, well, outlandish, "I mean real people bearing grudges. People who know how to rob banks for sure." After all, she wouldn't have the first clue how to go about robbing a bank. It was agood bet this kid had been given coaching.

Yeah, what do you mean, Alexis? How could Elly be Ellastic? Ellastic escaped! Plus Elly has longer hair.

"Oh. Well...okay. Then we gotta figure out who really robbed the bank! So...um..." Sam thinks, pondering how this situation could be resolved!

"...I don't think we'd get to go to the bank 'cause we hafta be secret and all, but maybe we could look at the video again? 'Cause it's gotta be fake, and if we can see what's fake about it then Ellastic wouldn't be in trouble anymore!"

"Wait a minute!" Silvie exclaimed, "That's not the right costume! Like...okay, so, Ellastic can stretch really, really far, right? But in the winter, she freezes up! Bam!"

She claps her hands together for emphasis, and says, "But! She has a special costume for winter, so that doesn't happen...and that's not it!"

"Yeah! And...and also, how come she has a gun?" Sam's eyes light up as he thinks back on the video himself; he feels kind of dumb for this bit not occuring to him before, but it was kind of a lot to take in!

"Ellastic never uses guns, 'cause she just rubber-punches all the bad guys! And also how come she had it if the bank was closed too?"

"That's..." One of the guards says. "...That's a good point. I'll bring that up with Volgar."

The one guard begins off, as Elly gives them a big grin. "Yeah, see? We all knew she didn't do it! Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my tour."

She begins to walk away, digging around in her pocket. She pulls something out...A rubber band.

She looks back to the group, slipping it onto her wrist, and gives them a wave as the elevator doors close. And as she does, they know beyond the shadow of a doubt.

That wasn't Elly Broughleo.

That was Ellastic, posing as Elly Broughleo.

Mission: 11- Legacy of the Infinite
Location: Unformatted Space.
January 12th, 3757
10:30 AM.

It was fairly early in the morning when nearly the whole team got a message from Enzo... everyone was in the address line except for Janet and Casey, even Juliet! Some of them were probably roused from sleep by the alert. The message contained a request to meet him in the unpartitioned space of the server, and even held a virtual map to follow, leading right from their rooms. Apparently whatever this is is important enough to finally tell Juliet what the hell is behind that door. He wanted them to show up by 10:30 if they could, preferably earlier. It was a bit of a hike to the destination apparently, and they would need to set out by 10:00 to arrive in time.

They set out on time and arrived at the map location to find something big.... very big. Enzo, Casey and Janet were waiting for them. In addition to the basic wunderoos outfits, Enzo was now wearing a dark blue vest and beret, with a small lavender mouse patch on the left breast. Casey was still wearing her signature bandana now plus some odd design that's hard to quickly identify, and easily hefting a gigantic wrench like it was nothing. While Janet hasn't added anything to her outfit, Kid walks up wearing a brand new black hoodie open, with Ellastic's logo on it in Sky blue.

The three of them, Enzo Janet and Casey, stood at the crest of a hill just past a tree line, a few dozen meters above a wide grassy valley. In the valley lay a largely black structure, not yet complete, probably about three stories high at the moment, and easily half a mile wide at the base. Interspersed throughout it were long lines of blue that shined with a soft light, curving around windows and doorways in a way that was not-quite smooth just yet. The whole thing was somewhat rough and angular at the moment, but there were hints of some kind of curved path or lane leading from the ground up to it apparently completely unsupported, a space for a grand double door at it's center, led up to by a set of wide steps. Swarming around the structure were a small army of what looked like small, hairy men... or perhaps more accurately, dwarves. They looked like they might have been directly ripped from Realm of Battlemaking. Each one was either hauling building materials or working on placed materials with primitive tools, or stood on the ground spawning those materials from apparently nowhere at all. They danced an intricate dance of creation and refinement, though the end product was still somewhat blocky. Every part of it was still being worked on to some degree, though the majority of the workers were trying to add height. It was hard to tell from a distance, but only the steps looked really finished.

Enzo was practically vibrating as he looked from face to face expectantly. If he were more excited he might literally explode.

"What do you think?!"

Whatever Emily might have been expecting from the outing, this was absolutely not it. She'd stuck to walking, so as not to wreck Enzo's surprise by getting the overhead view, and now she was glad she'd done so, "Looks good," she said, after giving the structure a solid look over, "You know, I never thought about building stuff in here." Then a thoughtful look settled over her face, "Say, don't buildings represent data in here? Is that what you're making the blocks out of?"

Sam stands astounded, watching all the dwarves hard at work at his creation, looking up and down its full length. Seeing them hurry back and forth on Enzo's project, slowly building it into its final form, is an amazing sight, one Sam can hardly help but gape at. He looks almost more excited than Enzo, if that's possible, his grin threatening to split his face as he watches all the flitting about. He knew Enzo was making stuff to help him make stuff, but he didn't know Enzo had gotten even close to this far along!

"Wow! This is neat! It's so huge too! What's it gonna be when it's done? How'd you make them all? What are the dwarves made out of? How are they even doing this? Can we see it closer?"

"Far as I know, it's gonna be a big clubhouse type thing, fulla stuff for everyone, like a race track anna baseball field an' all sortsa crazy crap!" Casey says, flipping her giant wrench and catching it repeatedly. She glances at Enzo, shouldering it again. "'s what I unnerstand, at least."

Enzo nodded in response to Casey. He was still really excited, but he made himself calm down enough to answer questions.

"Big enough for hundreds of Wunderkind, if it needs to be. Uhm, the blocks are made of data, yeah, but it wouldn't make much sense to look at from the outside. The dwarves are bots! Like, little AIs that can move autonomously, but they're not very sophisticated. And... I actually just made the first few and then started cloning them when I had the right kinds. Copy and paste!"

He looked around eagerly for anyone else who might have a question.

Alexis had gotten... angry when people had so eagerly dismissed that Ellie had indeed been Ellastic, so she'd kept mostly to herself since then, training, making songs, picking up her drawing again...

But when the letter from Enzo had urged her to det into the same place they'd gone on their first mission, she'd only reluctantly decided to. When they arrived, she kept to the background, not speaking, just watching. It was impressive, she wasn't going to deny that... but...

Don't we already have the headquarters?

Max is visibly impressed, but it quickly gives way to mild irritation. He folds his arms.

"Okay, that's awesome and all, but how is it even possible? Weren't we both struggling with creating things in the database just a few months ago? But now you've created Dwarf-bots and this giant rec center, and I still can't get anywhere on my dirt bike project? That's totally not fair. You've been holding out on me, man."

"And what's with the blue lines? This place looks straight outta Tronic. Are we gonna be racing lightcycles on that racetrack?"

Enzo visibly wilted as Alexis and Max voiced what sounded very much like criticism. He looked away at Max's question.

"... yeah. That was part of the idea. ... and I've been practicing and deep diving. I didn't think I was 'holding out' on anyone..."

He turned to face the building, watching the dwarves scrabble busily over it, working away.

"Is... is it dumb? Really?"

"Ya know if ya wanna dirtbike, I can build ya one, boyo." Casey says, pointing her wrench at Max, putting her arm around Enzo's shoulder. "An' yea, we got th' HQ, but that's all so rigid an' stuffy. This place is a place where we can jus' be Wunderkind, not some top seecrit force t' back up th' boys in blue."

She flourishes the wrench again at the group. "My boy here worked hard on so you guys would have someplace fun where they couldn' have their spyin' eyes watchin' everythin' we do. You better not be givin' him shit 'bout it, 'r yer gonna taste th' Hackwrench!"

Max perks right back up, and points dramatically and goofily at Casey. "You are officially the coolest person ever. We should totally collaborate."

Turning his attention to Enzo, Max responds. "Dude, relax. I believe I already said it was awesome. It's just... you weren't exactly subtle with your creative inspiration. I like it, though. Makes sense. 'Man in the machine' and all that. It's just... black is cool and stylish and all, but it's not really a warm, inviting color, you know? It's fine for the outside, but I'm not sure how I feel about it being all black and glowy blue lines on the inside, too."

"Oh! Oh. Uhm."

He pulled himself back together almost as quickly as he started letting himself go to pieces, though he didn't look much less embarrassed.

"There's going to be different colors schemes inside in different places, like for example, I couldn't do the Chapel all in black and blue or it wouldn't be accurate. Also everyone's rooms will be totally customizable, once Janet and I figure out the coding for it. Color and size and shape even, once we get things figured out. Also the library probably wouldn't work as all black with just blue light glass here and there. So... uhm. Yeah."

He hoped desperately that he didn't make himself look any more foolish than he already felt, but at least they liked it. He was going to chin up, or something. Really. ... Yeah no, he was going to be hella anxious like he always was when he unveiled something but he was going to smile and look happy while he did it. He could do that.

As the children stand, looking over their brother's work, they all begin to hear a familiar tune playing nearby. It gets louder and louder, more and more clear, as their enigmatic friend, Thirteen, slowly walks up the path towards the building. "Hello, everyone." She says evenly.

Kid turns, looking surprised. Janet blinks, and begins to speak. "Oh, uh...Hi, Thirteen. What are you doing here?"

Casey busies herself looking over Thirteen's cloak and eyepatch. "Woah. The codin' on this stuff isn't in any language they thought ta put inta MY head..."

Juliet just looks confused.

"I assumed this is where I needed to be." Thirteen says, smiling just a bit. "I'm here to join Project Bluesky."

Sam stares at Enzo's new building, grinning as he describes the features of the rooms to be put inside. "Oh neat! Are we gonna have ways of putting stuff in it and stuff too? And what about rooms that aren't in our room, can we make those too? How tall's it gonna be when it's all done? Oh, an' don't forget to put in extra rooms too, 'cause we might sometimes get new-"

And with perfect timing, Thirteen appears, making her announcement to the others of Bluesky. "...Wow! Really? Wow! Like...for real, in the real world an' everything? Neat! How come all of a sudden?"

Alexis shut up more not to hurt Enzo's feeling than anything else. She was in a sucky mood, and this all felt like a huge waste of time to her...

Which in itself felt weird, but... a small part of her just didn't want to give any acknowledgement anymore, people were just supporting each other to death.

Why are you joining now all of a sudden? I thought you were just here to give us advice and then join up later as a new recruit? You're already trained, aren't you?

Well, this was unexpected. Thirteen hadn't really struck Emily as the joining type, more the hover-mysteriously-behind-the-scenes type. She somehow doubted that Thirteen was going to reveal much about herself to the adults, but with new Wunderkind popping up all over the place, she ought to be able to pass herself off as one of them easily enough. For now, she opted to listen, curious about an answer to the others' questions.

As much as Max digs and respects Thirteen and her advice, and her crazy time and space wizardry, this seems way out of character. Max raises a skeptical eyebrow.

"That's... unexpected. I mean, I'm sure everyone here already considers you a friend and ally, but... you know, you sorta mysteriously appear at somewhat random intervals to impart mysterious wisdom and lend assistance with your mysterious powers. You're like our spirit guide or something. And aren't you dedicated to lending your assistance to all Wunderkind; not just us? I'm surprised you'd be joining any one group, even a super-awesome group like ours."

As the kids look at Thirteen, there's sort of a...Visual tick. Her hair shortens by almost an inch, damage appears on her suit, and a long cut runs over her cheek, as her eyepatch makes strange whirring noises. "It's not too late. We can still..."

There's another tick, as she's suddenly five feet away, struggling to stand. "Ouroboros..."

...And then she simply disappears.

Max blinks a couple times. That was... tremendously unsettling. "Either some serious shit is about to go down, or it already went down. It's hard to know with her."

He gets an idea. "...hold on."

Max takes to the air and flies up a couple dozen feet to survey the surrounding area, in case Thirteen didn't disappear but just blinked further away than they could see from the ground.
