"Sounds good," Emily said, advancing to face off against Ellastic. She didn't think she was going to win, but hey, you never knew. She had a couple of tricks up her sleeve she wanted to try out in any case. In a fight between several of them and Ellastic though, she'd give the Wunderkind the edge. Ellastic might have experience on her side, but numbers would counter that soon enough.

Given an invitation to take the first strike, Emily wasted no time in doing so. It was a tad unimaginative, consisting of advancing and throwing a couple of punches. Augmented by her strength, they ought to knock Ellastic about a bit, always assuming she stood still. Yeah, that wasn't going to happen. But it ought to give her a sense of her opponent's own moves, and there was no sense opening with her best tricks.

Ellastic simply ducks out of the way with a very fluid grace, strength isn't her strong point, but agility and flexibility obviously is. Emmy can tell this will probably be more of a game of keepaway on Ellastics part, only taking targets of opportunity when the chance arises.

Well, it looked like Ellastic was fighting smart. Which was no more than she'd expected. Ellastic was in it for the long haul, and while neither of them was going to tire, sooner or later mistakes would be made. Most likely by Emily. Emily continued to spar for the time being, waiting for a good chance to give Ellastic a convincing opening so she could grab hold. Then the fun would begin.

Max is pretty excited to have an opportunity to spar with a real live super-hero. His excitement boils over when Emily is the first to stand up. He can't let her have all the fun!

"This bout calls for some twin pilot action!" Max lunges into the fray. He's got a training pistol loaded with non-lethal rubber bullets at his side, but he doesn't intend to bust it out yet. In fact, to start out he's not actually trying to hit Ellastic; he just wants to see if he can get past her agile bendy doginess and tag her. At least until things get more serious. But even that much is going to require fighting smarter, rather than harder.

As Max runs toward Ellastic, he winds up for a heavy right straight punch. But it's a feint. He's hoping she'll underestimate his unsophisticated attack and wait 'till the last second for a flashy dodge. After all, it's what Max would do. But just before he gets to her, he boost-jumps straight for her, left hand extended for a tag, hoping the last-minute speed boost throws her off just enough to make it work.

It's a little goofy, but hey, this is the opening round. Still getting a feel for the opponent.

Alexis watched Emily and Max bust out their moves against Ellastic and she carefully closed her hand around the fire and reverse chips. She'd like to try to fight Ellastic too, but she'd wait until the other kids were finished... right now she was quietly hoping her two siblings would land a hit.

Ellastic is willing enough to spar with Emmy...Until Max butts in. As he rocket jumps, she smacks Emmy's fist away, and...Bends backwards, nearly flattening herself against the ground, before springing back up, shooting away to the far side of the room. "You guys are taking it easy on me!"

Enzo watched Ellastic carefully, familiarizing himself with her movements and the distances she stretched, the way she manipulated her center of gravity to suit those movements... Anything he could use to infer some limitations or weaknesses in her strategy and technique. It was a bit early on to be coming to any conclusions, but the minute he found something useful he planned to communicate it to the others.

Enzo's findings show that Ellastic's balance, even before her elastic powers, is exceptional- Probably a product of the powers themselves. If they ever get her completely off balance it'll be impressive, but that seems to be the key, her own manipulation of her balance and center of gravity. She tends to go low for defense, from the look of it.

Max flips in the air and lands hunkered down with two legs and an arm on the ground, like a runner just leaving the starting gate, sliding a little across the floor. "So close!" he says, with a grin. Ellastic is confident, and rightfully so, but Max knows he almost tagged her.

But almost doesn't count.

Max glances over at Emily to see if she's up for some co-op action, or if she has any ideas.

"Hey!"

Silvie had come to the meeting late, but not too late to miss all the action. It was time to step in and show them how it was really done.

"How about someone who's made for a real fight?"

And with that, she leapt into the fray, with a punch aimed at Ellastic

"Woah!" Ellastic shouts, jumping out of the way. "Don't get your wunderpants in a knot. ...That is what those are called, right? Anyway, plenty of gum for everyone! You can even figure out a plan before you start, but if all of you are in it, how about we sweeten the pot some? Emmy was the first one to step up, so how about...I dunno, you guys got an idea?"

So far, she seems to favor going beneath blows and then moving away. Try switching up where your blows are coming from vertically, it should throw her off.

"They're called wunderoos actually!"

He didn't have anything to add about the wager. That was all on the kind doing the sparring.

So, she said to the others. Lets do this!

I could... try to use my fire powers? Alexis fidgeted a little, glancing over at Ellastic. Or ice powers... Do you guys think she's very strong? I think I might be able to catch and hold her.

It's not that she's strong, Emily put in, It's that she's seriously agile. I was going to try and get a grip then take her for a flight. Let's hold off on the fire and ice for now. That might hurt her, but I don't know if it'd help us win.

Yeah we don't wanna hurt Ellastic! You're just practicing is all! And the comics say cold makes her weak, that might hurt her bad! Sam looks suddenly worried about something, for whatever reason! He's probably just nervous about going into the fight though.

Kid steps up, cracking her knuckles. "Before you guys go in, let a trained fighter get a little one-on-one, huh?"

As Kid approaches Ellastic on the mat, the door is thrown open, and a good dozen Deck City police rush in, guns trained on Ellastic. She seems as surprised as anyone, her mask doing nothing to hide the confusion in her eyes. A moment later, a tall, dark skinned man with a shaved head and shades walks in- The kids recognize him as Simon Volgar, Ace of Clubs. He crosses his arms and says simply, "Ellastic...Whatever your last name is, you're under arrest."

One of the officers moves in to cuff the stretchy teenager, and she whirls to face him, prompting another to tackle her, squashing her to the ground. There's an odd crackly pop, but silence otherwise, as all the officers realize what the tackling cop did. Ellastic stretches her neck up and around to look him in the eye.

"Did you try to taze me?"

The cop looks a little frazzled, he's probably the rookie. "...Um...Yes?"

"Don't taze me, bro."

A moment later, Ellastic is restrained in cuffs, and being read her rights. She's lead out by the police, still completely confused and off balance. Volgar remains as the rest disappear into the hall, before shooting a glance at Rivendare, and making his way out himself.

Rivendare stands slowly, putting a finger to his ear. "...I want to know why you just arrested a national hero, and I want to know right now."

Sam charges up to Rivendare, utterly confused by what just happened in front of everyone. Ellastic arrested? That's impossible! She's never broken any law ever, she's a superhero! Rivendare'll fix it though, and then everything'll be better.

Hey, I bet one of her bad guys did this to frame her, like in Issue #56! I bet it was the Green Team! Or maybe the Crying Chef!

There was a sudden pop in the air, as if a vacuum had appeared and momentarily drained the air around everyone for a bit, then there was the sudden crackle of a fire burning, and Alexis walking towards Volgar, the Ace of Clubs, flames sizzling around her fists and her bloodshot eyes scrounged up in anger.

"You heard the Boss, you bastard!" she snapped at him, her voice the sound of a roaring flame, "Or I'm going to teach your boys not to touch a friends of the Wunderkinds!"

Volgar stops, turning around and glancing at Alexis over his shades. He casually opens his jacket, and reaches into an inside pocket, pulling a piece of paper. "Warrent for the arrest of Ellastic. Stand down, 004."

He offers the paper for Alexis to look at.

Volgar frowns, and...Pulls another copy from his jacket pocket, taps it, and puts it back. "Outta my hands, kid. Gotta go through due process. If she's innocent, the truth'll come out."

"Or I beat you, and the rest of your shitty little goonsquad, and we take her back?" Alexis wasn't going to wait anymore. This guy was rude, and she was hurting. And there was only really one way to get rid of the hurting.

Alexis quickly slipped sideways, attempting to dodge under the man's arm and run towards the police officers.

"Whoah, hey, wait!" Emily had managed to scurry round and interpose herself in Alexis's path, " You can't go round bursting into flames at people and threatening them. That's seriously not on."

The observant might note that Emily looked nervous as hell about confronting Alexis, and wasn't exactly getting up in her grill, but she seemed pretty determined nonetheless.

Well this wasn't going to work at all. It was one thing for Alexis to get angry and burn an official document. He wouldn't try to stop her from doing that. Attacking humans while being on fire was something else completely. Even if she wasn't trying to hurt them... well, they'd nearly cracked Rivendare's ribs with a hug before. God knows what would happen if Alexis punched someone.

Enzo quickly streamed as much miscellaneous data, static and noise as he could into her visual and audio interfaces. It wouldn't stop her, but it would be overwhelming for a moment and definitely get her attention. He was sort of worried it wouldn't work a second time, as well... Nothing he knew said she couldn't just stop receiving his feed. He forced as much calm into his voice as he could manage, but it wasn't very effective. His voice quavered as he said:

"Alexis, stop. Please."

Wow. Shit is en-route to the fan. Max zooms in between Alexis and Vulgar's men and blocks her path. There's not a lot of room there so he braces for impact. No time for speeches, either. The only message Max manages to send her is a condensed burst of emptahy, tempered by determination. He knows that shit sucks right now, but he will not hesitate to stop Alexis from doing something stupid that she, and everyone else here, is going to regret.

Alexis was half-way to the cops when a sudden, overwhelming explosion of data hit her like a brick wall. She couldn't make out anything from what people were telling her, but she shook her head angrily and turned to look at Enzo with a furious expression.

"They're taking our friend and you want me to stop!?" She turned to look at Max and Emily, fires in her hands growing in intensity, the little chip in her wrist humming with the power coursing through it.

"Get out of my way or I'm gonna... Just get the fuck out of my way!" her tone was half-pleading, half-angry, but her eyes were scrounged up in something that looked like... distress?

Max pauses for a second to figure out what he wants to say. That look she was giving him... he's not sure what's going to be better for her to hear. And... and then there's the burning...

Max suddenly doesn't look as confident as usual.

"Look, I... I didn't say I wanted you to stop." He shivers a little, and closes his eyes. "We need you to stop. No one in this room is happy to see a hero get arrested. Even the boss is pissed off." Max opens his eyes and gestures to Rivendare. "He's on the phone right now, trying to figure out what this bullshit is all about."

Max's arm moves toward Alexis slightly, like he intended to make a caring gestures of some sort, but he stops it midway. He looks at Alexis with an expression that speaks to the gravity of the situation, but with more worry than might be expected of him. He glances back and forth between Alexis's face, and her hands, and then abruptly turns around.

"Look, you're not even mad at these guys," he says, sweeping a hand towards the police. "These guys are just doing their job. What do you think is going to happen if you start crunching bones and burning people in here? It's not going to be good for you or D52."

Max crosses his arms. "I know it hurts, Alexis, but if you really believe Ellastic is innocent, you really have nothing to worry about. Let her clear her name. It's probably not going to help her case if her friends beat the crap out of the arresting officers, you know?"

Is Max... fidgeting?

"Max is right, Alexis." Sam steps up, wringing his hands and trying not to get too close. "'Cause...they aren't bad guys, they're just doin' what they hafta. And Ellastic didn't do anything bad, and they'll find that out and let her go, an' everything'll be okay. But if you hurt them, you'll get in trouble too, an' I don't want you to get in trouble too. She looked angry again, as if she was going to jump Max at any second, but then she just sort of slumped into herself, and with a look of some straint she moved to touch her wrist, releasing the firechip into her hand and turning back into boring old grey (and non-violent) Alexis again. Then she just kind of stood there, head bowed down, shaking a little.

Janet slowly approaches Alexis, squeezing her shoulders reassuredly- as much as she can with Alexis's robotic shoulders. She pulls Alexis into a hug, as Kid approaches slowly. "If we saved her that way," Kid starts, "it would ruin everything. It would completely undermine everything Ellastic stands for."

Thank God that's over. More or less. Max would like to join in the empathy going on behind him, but he's too busy tensing up while trying not to. He rubs his arm for a moment. Then he attempts to just shake it out.

It helps... a little.

Enzo looked much like Max at the moment. This was better... but it still wasn't good. It wasn't good because Alexis was right to be mad, even if what she was going to do about it wasn't good. He turned back to see what Rivendare was doing about all of this... but for once he had no intention of interrupting him or bothering him in any way. He wasn't even going to try to listen in, in case he messed up the call or something trying to do so.

Back in the gym, Rivendare is pulling down a retractable screen from the ceiling, and clicking on a ceiling mounted projector. As the kids shuffle in, they see black and white footage from a security camera playing:

A dark haired girl in a black and light colored leotard...Squeezes between the doors of a bank, flattening like paper and snapping back to normal on the other side. She turns and unlocks the doors, grabbing a set of tools, before locking the door again and stretching further into the bank.

"This is all the footage we got." Rivendare says. "She disabled the rest of the cameras. Ellastic is the only person in the world with her powers, so this is...Pretty open and shut, unfortunately."
