Dane carried on down route.

"We're heading to the HQ. So far we haven't recieved any orders to not go with the orginal plan. SeeDs complete there contracts remember? We'll meet up with any suvivors... if there are any, stock up and commence with the attack.

"IF Stahl radio's for a complete abandonment of the misson, then sure, yeah, we'll stop."

Dane then turned to Navin and the rest of the crew.

"If we just ran away now, we'd leave all out teammates alone, expecting backup. Don't you think it be awful doing that to them?" The fact Dane smiled and paused for a second after saying almost looked like he suddenly enjoyed the idea.

"Lets go!"

Ash sighed, as he clicked the radio to his belt.

He turned to his students. "Well we're in no shape to argue anything right now. We want to go home? We're going to have to finish this mission. I'm still not too trusting of Stahl, specially after all of this, but we really have no choice." he said as he stood towards his squad.

"For all that it's worth, we're going to try and do the best we can right now. Guess we should try and hook up with assho... I mean Dane's squad. That is, if they're still alive." he said.

He then unsheathed his GunBlade, and pointed towards their general direction. "Onward." he said, the orders sounding hollow.

Navin shrugged.

"Well, we were paid, if I remember, to quell the rebellion. The rebellion seems quelled, but, you're team leader. Don't expect me to take a bullet for you, man."

GMing, at last.

Unread postby Jak Snide » Mon Jan 20, 2003 2:35 pm

The journey for both groups was a peaceful one, the calm after the storm, a lull in the battles which had previously thrust them all into life and death situations. Of course, they all knew that what lay ahead of them could be a battle which dwarfed the skirmishes that they had fought before. Weapons were checked, and chatter passed between the members of each group. There was a foul wind in the air, eerily silent, and rustling the grass around them rythmically. Both Nale and Anjelai had a bad feeling about this, the animal parts of them lending them a sixth sense of sorts.

---

Ash could tell that his small squad was nervous. The three that had survived the crash had been horrified by what they'd seen, and the last member of the 2nd detachment had experienced said horror first hand.

Then, up ahead, Ash caught sight of something. A squad, no more than a dozen at most, travelling towards the main objective. Any worries he had were immediately put to rest when he identified one of the sighted as a centaur.

"Are those the one's who were under Stahl's command, sir?" the medic asked, straining his eyes on those ahead of them.

Ash chuckled, "Nope, that my friend, is the squad under Dane's command." he said.

IM:Wonder how the little asshole's been, playing leader.

"I guess it's all for the better..." he joked as they walked forward to meet up with the other squad.

Regrouping, at last.

Navin, skulking along near the rear of the group, quickly caught sight of the intructor and his small band, having learned to keep his eyes peeled over the past few hours. The others didn't take long to spot this either, coming to a halt and waiting for Fanrico and his students to catch up.

Happy regrouping!

Shasti, catching a glimps of instuctor Ash, gave out a little "At last" from her breath and thanked the Guardian Forces for looking out for him.

She gave a little wave to him as he approached and smiled. "Instructor! Instructor Ash! I'm glad you're alive!" Maybe now everything will be a little more ordered around here.

Dane, of course, didn't share his sisters glee at seeing the old war dog return, though he had to admit he was impressed the old man was still moving about. He didn't say much and just turned away from the incoming group.

Shasti also saw all the other students and in turn gave them all a wave and a smile too. Even though she doubted she much liked them, or that they were ever friendly to her, she was glad to see them alive.

Navin sighed with relief.
Finally, an authority figure with a triple digit IQ!

He turned to the prisoners, talking in a hushed voice.

"Right. <.< Now, see, Ash isn't as bloodthirsty as Dane, if I remember. So, he might take the prisoner thing slightly better. So if I can get you guys transferred, I will."

Ash and the POW's

Unread postby Ash Fanrico » Wed Jan 22, 2003 10:49 am

Ash looked at the much larger squad, course they didn't get shot out of the sky... he saw that everyone who was there before was still in the group. He was glad to see some of the students, for a while he was worried that they might have gotten ambushed as well.

He then came across the prisoners, he could tell cause they weren't people he recognized. After looking them over he turned to Navin, "Explain." was all he would say.

Navin took a rather deep breath.

"Sir, given we are in an unfamiliar situation, wherein people we do not know are attacking both us and the enemy, accepting these prisoners would perhaps allow us to have a better idea of the general landscape, and perhaps a bargain tool should we find more of them, Sir."

Dane shrugged. "If he wants to baby sit them its his buisness. I told him before - he looks after them and he protects them - they'll slow him down but not me. I can't be bothered worrying about some cowards who'd let themsleves be captured in a fight."

Dane glaced at the soldiers, who if they saw his stare would certainly relise he just honestly didn't care about them at all. He didn't care they were here, if they remained alive, or if they died. Dane felt that way about a lot of people.

"Now, don't we have a mission to do?" He said, finally turning and staring straight at Ash.

Ash nodded, though stopped and looked at Dane, "Though I'm questioning this whole thing myself. How do we know that the other squad's... the ones who were slaughtered by those black outfitted types... how do we know they weren't sent into an ambush situation? *looks at the girl he and his squad saved* Some of us have already lost too many people. I'm not too keen on leading my students into that kind of situation." he said as he stared at Dane.

He sighed, "But it could... just be the worries of an old dog... but it just... doesn't seem right somehow. This whole thing..." he said looking away towards the others in Dane's squad.

He looked at Anjelai and Shasti, then to the others, including Navin. He didn't want to see them have to go through such a thing. He sighed again....

He walked towards the path they were about to go... "Let's just... watch our step... and stick together." he said as he stopped and looked back at his students...

Dane didn't really say much, or in fact, anything. However the fact that the other squads were ambushed was intresting.

"So its just us." He grinned as he said it under his breath, barely audioable.

Shasti looked over the survivors and her group. Her feelings were very much the same as instructor Ash's but she didn't voice them. Egding closer to her friend she smiled what was hopefully a strong smile to her.

"Its almost over now. This is what we trained for right?"

Anjelai tossed her head, sending a few stray braids swinging over her shoulders and to her back. She couldn't get rid of her uneasy feeling, not really paying attention as she answered.

"Who knows? We didn't cover black squads in basic training..." Then belatedly the centaur realized that Shasti was asking as much for her own comfort as Anjelai's. "We'll get out all right, though. We will." She caressed her rifle, but didn't look at Shasti once, eyes still scanning the area. Her tail swished.

Feh. Nervous as a jitterbug.

Dane waved his hand and just walked away. He had enough of Navin and couldn't care less what he was going to do.

The beginning of the end of the beginning.

Unread postby Jak Snide » Sun Jan 26, 2003 1:42 pm

The group moved onwards again, following Fanrico's lead. As they approached the rebel HQ, everyone could tell something was wrong. The base appeared to be devoid of activity, not a soul in sight, the inhabitants of the area possibly dead already, although the buildings, showing no signs of battle damage, suggested otherwise.

All the same, just charging in there wasn't wise. They'd have to decide on a course of action.

Dane thumped his right palm and got a mean glare in his eyes, and strided to the front.

"Alrigh-"

"No." That was Shasti, walking up to the front and glaring at Dane. "You can stop right there. I don't care how strong you think you are. We are not doing it your way here ." Shasti had no idea where all this bravery was coming from, if it was even bravery, but she wasn't going to let Dane get everyone killed. "So don't even think it."

Dane stopped and started, completely unsure on how to proceed. He looked like he wanted to hit her one second, then congratulate her the next.

Eventually he shrugged it off and waved his hands in the air. "Fine. Fine. This is your exam as well." With that Dane stared right at her.

"So, how do you think we should proceed?"

Shasti gulped and stopped. She hadn't really been perpaired for this, she didn't even think she was going to speak out like she did, and now her brother had put her on the spot.

He had put her on the spot! How dare he!!

Fuelled by a sudden anger she quickly thought over what was happening. It was clear they first needed to know what exatcly was happening in at the base and they had one guy who was really good at not being seen.

What was his name again?

"Navin. " She said aloud as it came it her. "We should have him check the base. He shouldn't go in alone of course, but check around, see if he can spot any soldiers. See what he can find out before we move in"

She thought again, did she have the plans of this base? A back or side entrance would probably be handy, though it was more likely they guarded those areas better...

OOC: Alrighty :P There, started us off. Shasti is trying to remember the layout of the base (if she ever saw it), so I think its up to Jak to see what exatcly she rememebrs (as I remember nothing :P)

Navin nodded.

"Right. <.< I don't suppose anybody else can watch the POW's, since, despite what Dane says, dragging them in is remarkably stupid? Furthermore, putting me WITH somebody kinda eliminates my whole 'I don't get seen' thing I have going on, doesn't it?"

Right-o then

Unread postby Choark » Mon Jan 27, 2003 7:11 pm

Sashti nodded her head at Ash's suggestion. She then went over and talked to them both.

"As far as I remember the whole thing is surrounded by a fence with only once entrance, bunkers on each side. It might be a good idea to check the fence for any weaknesses Navin" She said, trying not to let her head go 'giggy'. She never was in charge before.

"Just be sure not to be seen, even with sniper support with us waiting here it might take too long to come and get yo out of trouble." She said, having a horrible image of the man being trapped alone with al the base coming after him. "Just find out whats going on in the grounds and who's there. Please don't do anything stupid."

From the edge of the group Dane watched the HQ in the distance. His thoughts were his own.

"So," Shasti said, "does that sound like a good start?"

Unread postby Jak Snide » Thu Jan 30, 2003 1:52 pm

Even with his GF's abilities, Navin doubted he could just walk in through the front. After all, he didn't know if the bunkers were manned, and the power that cloaked his presence wasn't that strong. However, he did note a distinct lack of lookout towers, meaning if he could find somewhere out of sight of the bunkers, he could cut the fence and get inside.

Shasti walked over to Dane who was still away from the whole group and watching the base.

"He'll be alright, Navins good at hiding and sneaking."

Dane snapped out of whatever trance he was in and looked at Shasti. "Wha?"

"Navin, if you're worried about him, he'll be fine. I'm sure of it."

Dane shook his head and laughed.

"Whatever." He looked to the base again. Shasti looked at him, thinking maybe he laughed just to hide his worry, then suddenly Dane started to talk, she didn't catch it all for the surprise. ".. a whole army that didn't use GF's. No cowering behind them and begging them for powers that you don't have. And they moved well and had a purpose. Looked better then even Elite SeeD. Yeah."

"Dane?" Shasti said, getting a bad feeling from the look in her brothers eyes. "what are you thinking about?"

"For the love of-! Shasti go worry about everything over there will you!" He snapped, suddenly angry at his siblin.

Shasti, not wanting to anger him further, and wanting to get out of his glare, walked back to Instructor Ash and waited for Navin.
