(( Hrm, Ill say blaze did it since he did post first after all. o_O ))

The Dragon snarled as the players leapt about over his tail and such. He then proceeded to turn around to face those who were behind him. Letting out another roar, he swung at Men'Drakk'ar with his left claw.

Reht's hasting spell had taken affect, and he began to take advantage of it by doubling back. He had to buy the others more time.
He rolled twice and came up under the swing the dragon was unleashing. As the most powerful player in the room, he could easily have retreated and left the others to their fates. And risking a disconnect would cause him to loose most of the money he had on his person at them moment. It would be a major setback. And yet, he still had an obligation to his partner.
So as he came out of his roll his left hand thrust upwards towards the dragon holding, not his blade, but a pair of bottles taken from under his coat. One was a bottle of holy water. There was no positive indication the dragon was demonic, or undead, but it was composed of bones, so a sacred attack was a good bet. The other contained an acidic solution that should eat away at the dragon's highly exposed skeleton. He threw both and leapt to his feet, hoping to flip away before he was attacked...

That effort was stopped short, though, as the chanting of the druid abruptly stopped. The ground shook for a second, and suddenly a piece of the earth drew itself up. A piece of the earth as large as...well....a really big thing, flew at the dragon, knocking it off-balance.
~Have to concentrate...again...~

Ethra auddenly sprang out of his grasp, leaving him momentarily dazed.

Ingrate...

Then he saw the claw out of the corner of his eye.

Need to get the axe!

He dived back the way he had come, reaching out and grabbing his axe, rolling and coming up in a kneeling position.

The Dragon looked down at the man under his feet for a moment before getting knocked off balance, stumbling to one side right over Reht. He let out a small roar before what appeared to be sniffing the air. He looked down at the borken bottle and brushed them away from his chest with a single claw. Considering the fact he is a skeleton the holy water had no effect at all. The acid merely burned hole in one of his ribs, it snapping in half landing with a large thud. He snarled at Reht and opened his mouth sending a large fireball directly for him.

"My turn!" Ethra jumped in front of Reht with her black jeweled-sword in hand.

That is one big fireball...

"Magic defelction!" Ethra swung her sword and sent a ripple in space at the fireball.

Wait a sec.. is this fireball magic?

...sh*t.

"Didn't I tell you to run? GET OUT!" The druid chanted again, hoping to shatter some of the ribs of the dragon with scattered stones. "Or if you're going to attack it, do it effectively! It needs to be taken down piece by piece!"

The Fireball kept on going, ripping right through the ripple and nailing Ethra, dealing considerable damage.

The dragon meanwhile growled at Sorune whom had made another of his ribs thud to the ground. With a quick spin he raised his right claw into the air swinging it down at the Druids head.

Making a repeat performance of his first successful attack, Men'drakk'ar once again leapt in front of Sorune and swung his axe at the claw as it descended.
This time he braced his legs as he swung, and thusly the impact had less effect on his arms than the previous time.

'Keep the spells coming, and I'll watch your back!' He called over his shoulder to the druid as he felt his axe meet bone.

Today is just NOT my day.

Yep, you're usually not this dumb.

Ya.

Ethra slowly got up, muttering. Then finally regaining her composure she started casting a spell.

"Fire's enemy, water's brother, let this beast feel your cold touch, ice!"

Chunks of ice began to form in the air around Ethra, and like missles they fired at the dragon.

Somehow, Reht had managed to avoid all the dragons attacks so far. This put him at a slight advantage when dealing with the dragon. And yet, he still had orders to escape, taking the others with him. He sighed, realizing that the others wouldn't come along willingly, and he wasn't ready to take them by force. Instead, he would try and buy them some time.
He grasped his blade in both hands, quickly resetting it's elemental nature to neutral, and celft a mighty arc in the air, the words "Machina Slash" dropping from his lips. As his blade swung, it energized the air with Ki energy, and the energy arc swept out towards the dragon, burning with mystic power.

The Dragon snarled as another one of his right claw now 2 claws short. He let out a roar and pointed his mouth out the oncoming icicles sending a small fireball at each melting them away. He then turned his attention to the arc of energy now heading towards him he growled swatting at it with his left claw knocking it away, but still getting a large crack on the claw that impacted the blade. He them opened his mouth once more, this time a large ball of dark energy went hurdling at Reht.

As the darkness rushed towards him, Reht again triggered the switch on his blade, holy force again flowing through it.
He then jammed all three points towards the ball, driving them through it like a skewer. A tiny, OOC part of his brain could help but compare the opperation to baling hay. Muscles bulged on his arms as he strained to toss the energy to one side.
((OOC Note: Because this is a highly unorthodox defense, I'll wait for the GM to RP the result. Two things to be considered: Reht would be a level 82 character on a 100 lv system, and this is not the first time he has attempted such a measure. Thanx!))

The Ball of darkness was hurled aside, and shattered as the dragon charged again. This time having learned his Opponents ability to adjust to elements, he snarled and dug his hind claws into the ground tilting his skull down at Reht. He began to gather energy slowly into his bony jaw. It began to glow white as it sparkled a faint blue, red, brown, black, and then white. Staying on white, the rob grew from the back of his mouth. He clutched the ground tightly and the non-elemental ball went hurdling at Reht, with such speed and force that would make it nearly impossible to avoid or repel.

Verios chuckled silently from his watching point. "My pet, I shall have to bring you back soon. I can't go and let you get destroyed by these fools. You are far too important." With that Verios began to chant slowly ripples in the air begging to form above the dragons head, invisible to the players. "Saried, get ready to retrieve him."

Saried nodded and walked over to a ripple that was slowly forming in the ground behind Verios. "Tell me when Verios."

Perhaps a little to soon to use this...

Postby JoshuaDurron » Sun Nov 17, 2002 7:08 pm

In his adventures, Reht had met many, many odd creatures. And he had learned that only the truely astral could resist non-elemental steel. Sadly, the same was true for him, and that energy couldn't be dealt with using simple deflection tricks. What he could do was stop it, by any means necessary.
Non-classed characters have one advantage over their classified counterparts. The ability to mix and match abilities like an alchemist mixes and matches chemicals. If the right combination is found, powerful techniques can be formed, and devistating damage done. Also, their creators were given the right to name such techniques.
Now most of the possible combinations had been found before Reht joined the game. But one particular non-elemental combation had been undiscovered, and he had laid claim to it. He had only used it the one time he had created it, mainly because it was far to powerful to go tossing around like a throwing dagger. Now, however, he seemed to have no choice.
It was time for a, "Deux Ex Machina!"
As the echos of his shout died away, Reht's blade spun back and forth in an X pattern at a truely insane rate of speed, Machina arcs flying out and colliding with the incoming ball of energy. Even though his haste spell bought him some time, he still barely had time to bring his blade into a simple parry as the blow connected, using the last of his Ki to energize the blade enough to function as a last ditch sheild.
When the light of the collision faded, Reht had been thrown clear across the room, and against the far wall. Damage equal to one fourth of his HP had been dealt. Nothing not easily recovered. But his Ki was exhausted, and, even worse, two of his blades points had been broken of at the base, the third was badly mangled.
He allowed the worthless weapon to fall from his hands, and reached for a throwing knife in the folds of his coat, taking the situation in carefully.

Heal your self you idiot.

Teh, like I could survive an attack like that.

Just do it, there's always a chance, besides, if you do survive this.. this'll give you the XP you very much need.

Shut up, my MP is almost all gone, I need to conserve it.

For what? If anything you shouldn't be holding back!

"Mischievous little ones, touch this creature with your draining aura and empower his enemies, Sprites!"

Very small dimensional gate ways appeared, and from them little dots of life emerged, a swarm of them. the little dots swarmed around the dragon, dashing this way and that, a few landing on his snout. They were slowly (very slowly compared to the amount of strength this dragon probably had) draining his life and transfering it to those deemed "friendly" in Ethra's mind.

Now would be a good time to run...

Postby ArgusDevilmen » Mon Nov 18, 2002 8:30 am

The Dragon snarled angrily and stopped dead in his tracks. He stood there unmoving and looked up. He let out a roar and the ripple in the air above him.

Verios grinned and waved his arm over the pool of water he had been watching the battle in. Saried leapt into the end of the ripple he was on landing on the skull of the dragon. He snarled angrily biting one of the sprites that approached him shattering it. He raised his claw in the air and brought it sharply down on the dragons head.

The Dragon shook violently for a moment, his red eyes fading from view. The skeleton slowly falling apart and floating up into the air. The pieces of him entered the ripple, one by one even the pieces that had been hacked or broken off.

Saried chuckled at them before disappearing into the ripple as well riding the dragon skull. "You will all die here...." Just as he said this the room began to shake rubble falling from above. This a obvious sign the place was falling apart........

Reht immidiately resheathed his knife. "Everyone out, NOW!" He pulled out a mana potion and drank it fast, ignoring the bitter taste. He then began to call out a haste spell again, this time targetting the entire group. It was all the help he could give them as he began sprinting towards the exit.

Men'drakk'ar nodded, and ran over to Ethra.

Now is when the druid sacrifices himself.

Postby Dragon Sage007 » Mon Nov 18, 2002 10:10 pm

"Run this time! Get out of here! I'll keep this place together as long as I can! And listen to me this time!" With that, the druid urned back around, and began to make intricate and extravagant motions with his arms. The rocks in his immediate are started to fall with far less frequency, but there was stlll great danger.
~Dammit, I cannot let him kill anyone! And he probably has the power to do that now...I'll die before I let him kill anyone. I will sacrifice myself to save them.~ The druid let out a low primal roar, and the rocks everywhere were falling with less frequency. ~I may kill myself casting this spell, but it will be worth it. Let some of them have the truth, and someone will stop him. And I will have him stopped, before everyone dies.~ The druid started expending more energy, and the cave seemed calm for the moment. He looked like he was going to collapse, and he wanted to. But sheer force of will kept him from doing so. Finally, when his MP and energy were expended, he collapsed in a heap....whether or not he woke up again was up to God.

When Reht spotted the approaching pair of new arivals, he immidiately knew that things were going to get more complicated. As he charged towards them, he shouted out, "Run, or die!"
To encurage their deciding towards survival, he grabbed both by the arm as he charged past, dragging them along with him as he hurried towards the stairs up to the fourth floor. Hopefully, Sorune's measures against the traps there hadn't been shaken loose by all the shaking...

Kite looked over at Alyrra. "'ooc This is why I like Wingra. If you think you're gonna lose a fight, you can always just run away." Kite turned his head back towards the others. "'IC And what did you do to cause this whole place to colapse?!"

JoshuaDurron

Re: Here go into the falling cave.

Reht reached the stairs only a few seconds behind the Wingra, his haste spell along with his excellent physical condition allowing him to keep pace with them. Men'drakk'ar followed close behind, carrying the reluctant Ethra. Sorune's efforts to stop the crumbling had succeeded to an extent, but Reht dared not slow down to wait for him, lest he wind up dead.
As he began taking the steps to the fourth floor two at a time, he answered Kite's question. "We didn't do anything. Verios seems to have uncovered some sort of reality altering power source down here. He threw a monster dragon at us, and then began collapsing the cave. Seems relatively pissed."
A quick glance at his endurance bar indicated that he wouldn't be able to keep this pace up for long. The blow he had taken from the dragon had drained him, and the exertion was becoming telling. Still, he had no choice but to press on.

Men'drakk'ar pounded along behind the others, holding his own despite his lack of wings or speed spells and the weight he bore.

What's the betting she hits me when I put her down... He wondered. But still, if I'd have left her she wouldn't have made it.

Verios out and about....

Postby ArgusDevilmen » Tue Nov 19, 2002 3:39 pm

The Cave was delayed for no longer, as the druid despite his efforts was finally buried under the rubble. Disconnecting him and sending him back to "reality".

The fourth floor was shaking violently as the stairs began to give way. The traps were shattered and broken, arrows laying about on the ground Shards of spears on the floor as well. They could proceed quickly to the exit once they passed the large gap in the middle of the fourth floor......

Saried growled slightly and the let out a whimper as he walked over to the empty pool of water where Verios has been watching them. He sat there watching them now. Waiting for the Dragon to pull itself together as well as for Verios to return from his 'errand'.

Verios slowly floated out from a ripple in space from above a Watcher. He grinned bringing his spear down upon him through the Watchers chest. Two other watchers turned to look at him as their companion vanished being disconnected. Verios smirked pointing his palm at them his spear in his left hand behind his back. He gathered his energy and launched two fireballs at the weak watchers who were disconnected. "They have nothing but newbies now...... How pathetic.... If I knew any better I'd say they have the more experienced ones out doing something." He merely chuckled before walking over to their nightstand and opening it pulling out a potion. He threw it to the ground shattering it and looked about the inn room. He walked out of it downstairs to the lobby of the inn and sat down in a chair smiling to himself. "If those fools survive perhaps I can use them for some more entertainment...."

Reht cast a float spell with the last of his magical strength, and performed his best leap, 'landing' fairly safely on the other side. A rope had somehow become tied to a rock on one side of the chasam, and Reht was now tying it to a rock spur on the other side. As soon as he was done, he called out, "No slacking! Let's move!"
Without looking back, he charged up the stairs to the third floor.

As Sorune, A.K.A. Trevor, disconnected, he knew exactly what to do. He jumped on his computer, and sent a little note to the top guns in Reyta. It read something like this.
"Sirs and ladies. There has been a dangerous mishap with a player's Reyta console. His online name is 'Verios' and he needs to be disconnected right away, as he cannot log out by himself. He has gone slightly insane because of this, and has probably caused several watchers to be disconnected. The insanity has not affected his hacking skills, however, and he has caused a major dungeon known as 'Gaia's Cleft' to collapse, and become unavailable to other players. Please reply if you can do anything about this, and DO NOT send low-level watchers after him. He is far too powerful for them." With that, he logged back in, hoping to find Ethra and Reht again. And planning to stop Verios with help or without.

ArgusDevilmen

Its getting late....

Postby ArgusDevilmen » Tue Nov 19, 2002 8:15 pm

"So, do you think it possible?"

"No. I do not believe in such a thing. We created this game and there is nothing we do not know about it."

"Yes but this player was clearly using some sort of ha.."

"No, It was not hacking. We would have gotten a signal. Besides hacking is done from outside."

"True, then what is giving him the power to do such things?"

"I do not know... We will send a messenger then?"

"Yes. We must send someone to talk with the ones who were in contact with him."

"Will we also put a bounty on him?"

"That will be decided later... Its getting late here... We shall discuss this more tomorrow...."

Verios looked out the window of the inn silently watching the sky slowly change to dark, illuminated by the fake stars. He chuckled silently as he watched the late night players emerge from the nearby log on platform. He knew most of the stronger ones who came on, due to the fact he fought most of them for some reason or another.

"The night is much more to my liking... Perhaps they are out by now.... It matters not.. They will never find me.... The fools...."

It's night...

Postby JoshuaDurron » Tue Nov 19, 2002 8:29 pm

He had cleared the third, second, and first floors with relative ease. He had been through the path once, and there were no traps or monsters left to deal with.
Never the less, he had still had to kick in a tech that allowed him to burn HP instead of health in order to finish his sprint to the outside. By the time he reached the outside, he had only a small sliver of health left. Disregarding whether the others had made it out or not, he activated a healing trance, which caused his character to fall unconscious on the ground, without completely logging him out.
He took the time to send an e-mail similar to Sorune/Trevor's to the Reyta Admins, and then sat back to strategize.
