Sheen held out a hand to the teacher..he decided he was going to mess with him "My names Gaffrion, Gaffrion Lemleits" he said. He was surprisingly good at lieing, though he wasn't sure if the teacher was gonna buy it.

Sheen laughedand tunred onhis side, wagging a finger "now I know Sheen and he is a very upstanding and bright young boy with great potentual." He was pretty much mocking what most teachers would say to such a student. He was hoping it was obvious he was Sheen, otherwise he might have a really akward situation on his hands

Mr. Talton grinned again, understanding. "Fine then. You're late anyway, but it's the first day of school." He erased some mark on his sheet. "And most people's potential tends to improve when they attend class on time." Flicking his hand, he dismissed Sheen to a seat.

(Sorry bout not posting... I've been away from a computer for awhile. Should be getting my new one tonight.)

Jason was sitting in class, listening, when he felt a slight magical disturbance... what was it? A portal?

Quickly changing the look on his face before the teacher could take notice, he continued to listen to her lecture on the trolls. He viewed them as inferior... pretty much unable to use magic. What a waste.

The nurse chuckled. "You're too young for stocks, sonny boy." She handed him the business section anyway. "And what's your name?"

* * *

Sekor glanced at Sam, then curtly said "Hello." As before, he didn't seem interested in talking. He had finished his work already, and was leafing through the language book once more.

* * *

Mr. Talton finished with the roll call, then pulled back a sliding screen to reveal an assignment written on the whiteboard.

"All right. Find at least five facts about the Middle Ages, but whoever gets the most before the ten-minute timer rings gets bragging rights and extra credit," he called. "The books are on the shelf over there."

* * *

Mrs. Schulz continued through her lecture, occasionally pausing to write down key words or phrases on the board at the front of the class.

Leon glanced at Mr. Talton and sighed getting up slowly walking over to the shelf. He slowly placed his ocarina away at his side and picked up a book. He turned around carrying it under his right arm going to back to his desk.

"I always thought we didnt work on the first day..... oh well...."

Leon sighed and sat down at his desk opening the book and finding quite a few facts right away.

Mr. Talton chuckled as he overheard Leon.

"This isn't work... this is a game. Admittedly a boring game, but just keep telling yourself it's a game."

* * *

Sekor blinked. "Ten-se?" he asked, glancing up and repeating the word. "Why would I be a number?" He had a strong, rumbling accent, but his words were articulately formed.

Leon looked to his teacher oddly then chuckled a bit. He then continued to look up the facts having 6 at the moment.

IM: A game ..... Heh...

Katrina meanwhile had finished the questions assigned and put down her pencil leaning backwards in her chair. Hoping the bell would ring soon so she could go to the park for lunch.

"Glad Leon makes lunches for us... I never have liked school lunches." She said to herself quietly.

Jason quietly sighed. Oh, how he hated these classes so much... too bad he couldn't take the advanced courses... they didn't offer them here. That would be the ONLY advanced course he'd take, just so he wouldn't have to go through these boring classes all the time...

Then again, they'd probably STILL make him take them anyway. So, it was just as well.

Looking at the key words and phrases, he let them float around in his head. Yeah, he'd remember... not that it was hard to remember the lectures. Or anything, for that matter.

Shifting in his seat to get more comfortable, he glanced at his watch to see the time. He hoped the bell would ring soon. His stomach was beginning to growl.

"Not having breakfast does that to you..." he quietly muttered to himself.

"My name?...uh.....Knyte. Yeah, Knyte." He rubbed his head. "Where am I?" He looked at the top of the paper and saw the name of the region, and the year--the question was meant to get a more specific answer.

He set the paper down, rubbing his head to feign another headache as an excuse to not 'check his stocks.'

Morgan makes another entrance.

Postby SALSAlys » Tue Oct 08, 2002 7:01 pm

"At highschool, of course." The nurse raised an eyebrow at him. "You must have really gotten a nasty knock on the head..."

Then the elf appeared in the room. The teleportation was simple and effective; no flashes of light, smoke, or anything else to show his arrival. One moment he wasn't there; the next he was. He was still wearing the robes that he had worn when talking with Bob.

"Morgan?" said the nurse with surprise. He nodded.

"Mind if I talk to him alone for a while?" he asked smoothly, glancing to Knyte.

"Nah. Just give me a shout if you guys need anything." Curiousity was plain on her face, but she deferred enough to the elf to leave him to his devices. She stood, then left through the door.

After she shut it behind her, Morgan sat down.

"Hello, Knyte," he said without preamble. "And what brings you to this part of the world? Or perhaps more precisely, THIS world?"

Sheen threw a look at Mr.Talton. He was sure the guy was nice, and had a good since of humor, but he'd always made it a point to test the teachers, to see if they were just putting on a mask for schoo. So he got up and got a book, began reading and thought outloud to himself. "so if this is a game then your pay is a joke?"

"May I bring a friend of mine? She is also new here."

Besides, I still need to find out what's up with that Amie girl... Well, take her to lunch then. That ought to be a nice enough thing for you to do...'

Glancing at his watch again, his stomach growled once more, but only loud enough for him to notice. "Well, now that that's out of the way..." Jason muttered to himself. He hoped the bell would ring soon.

Knyte glanced up at the new figure. And it was apparently time to really test his memory, and his bluffing skills. "Eh...well," he rubbed his head, "a spell went off in Dumah's lab...I'm not really sure what happened, I'm--or, I guess I *was*--just an errand boy...getting the potions and the herbs for the masters, and I bumped into something...next thing I know, I'm here, and I have a bad headache..."

"Interesting." Morgan's eyes were as blank as before, unreadable but vaguely comforting. He sent a slight mental probe to the boy...

And didn't smile, although he felt tempted.

Quite an interesting past you have, even if you didn't feel like sharing it... and I see why. Heh. And we can't very well send you back...

"Well, I don't see how we can send you home. Perhaps you would like to stay here? This is a school after all, and you might find it rather educational." Morgan's tone was mild, not trying to sway him one way or the other.

"So how about it?"

Knyte pondered. Well, I probably could stand to do a bit more research to get back to the keep...and I don't really have anywhere else to go...how bad can school be, anyway?

He nodded. "I accept. I'll attend your school...where is the research library of magickal arts? I'd like to work on the problem of getting home as quickly as possible...oh, and where is the dormitory?"

Re: Let's chat.

"Actually, we do not have an on-campus dormitory.. students stay with their family, then come to school on weekdays. Although I believe that we have two other students..." He rubbed his temples, trying to think. "Yes. Two students from the Plains. If I remember right..." Morgan broke off into a mutter, then focussed his eyes on something not apparent to Knyte.

"Ambrose?"

"Yes?" came a cultured, gentle masculine voice from thin air.

"The family hosting the exchange students... do they still have that empty room?"

"Let me access the files... yes they do. There was supposed to be a third exchange student, Wulfric, but he—"

"I don't need all the details, but thanks. Would they be prepared to cope with a sudden new addition?"

"Probably."

"Good. Thanks, Ambrose."

"You're welcome."

Morgan returned his gaze to Knyte. "There you have it," he said with satisfaction. "You can probably get boarding with two other students. After all, you're also a foreign exchange student, in a way... just from a slightly different locale. Talk with the two later. You're a... sophomore, I believe. Yes. Sophomore. So you should be having classes with Katyana. Ambrose?"

"Yes?"

"Please make a schedule for Knyte."

A few moments later, a schedule popped out of midair for the boy, landing neatly in Morgan's outstretched hand. He examined it. Everything seemed to be in order.

"Why does he have a junior-level mathematics course?"

"He can handle it," said Ambrose.

"Ah. And why is the name 'Anion Duprei' on this?"

"It's his real name."

Morgan showed no change of expression. "Ah. Well, you can keep referring to yourself as Knyte, but the roster will have you down as Anion. And you'll be having magic classes with me as well... along with Sekor and Katyana. Even if you don't meet them before then, you should in my class. They're fairly distinctive; both are feline, and one is very large while the other is petite.

"As for your question... you can talk with me after school or during lunch about magic, since I will be your instructor. There are also grimoires and theoretical works available in the library, but for the more advanced ones you'd need a permission slip from me."

Knyte was rendered absolutely speechless by the deadly-effecient progression of his 'registration' with the school, whose name he still did not know yet. What's more, they knew his name--his REAL name--and were able, easily, to ascertain his abilities and compare them with curriculum! He stared dumbfounded at the piece of paper in his hand, and his bewildered face twitched as his mouth struggled to find the words for...well, anything.

And if they knew all that...

Knyte's eyes rolled up into his head, and he passed out. Again.

Oh my. *peals of laughter*

Postby SALSAlys » Wed Oct 09, 2002 8:20 pm

Morgan glanced down at Knyte, momentarily disconcerted.

"He is not used to this kind of school, Morgan," Ambrose's smooth voice spoke.

"I can say. He'll be up soon enough."

* * *

When Knyte reawoke half an hour later, the bell marking the end of third period had just rung.

Morgan was gone, and the nurse was there once more.

"Well, Knyte, you better hustle along to your new class," she shooed. "And remember, have fun on your first day at Magyan High!"

* * *

Ms. Schulz neatly snapped the cap onto the marker she had been using to write on the board.

"Class dismissed," she said, and the band of darkness lifted from Dermont's eyes. Amie grabbed her bag and hurried out to her literature class, with Mrs. Aguilera. At a more leisurely pace, Katyana and Krysta gathered their items, ambling out the classroom as they talked.

* * *

"'Kay then..." Mr. Talton stood by the exit. "Put the books back, and hand me the papers on your way out!"

* * *

Mr. Vierra waved his students out the door, smiling. "No homework tonight!" Nan'tulla bit back a chuckle, then turned to face Blaze.

"What class do you have next? I have Mrs. Baxter."

Leon had just began to put away his book and wlkaed over to Mr. Taltons desk. He placed his paper on the desk which had 14 facts on it. He smiled slightly to Mr. Talton as he headed for the door.

"Good bye, Mr tal--" He was abruptly cut off as Katrina crashed into him, Since he was just coming out of the door and she was running over to his class. The lay in the middle of the hallway Leon underneath his sister facefirst into the ground while Katrina was perched atop him.

Sekor nodded, moving out with Sam. "The teacher is Mr. Agelo?"

Amie was already settling into a seat near the middle of the class— not far enough back to make it look like she was trying to avoid being called on, but not so far forward that she was likely to be called.

Mrs. Aguilera was a plump, jolly-looking blonde woman who smiled up at the entering students as she sat perched on a stool near the front of the room.

He kept his comments about the teacher to himself.
