Dia herself didn't look that trusting of this newcomer...but hey, that's Dia. And, for Dia, she seemed unusually welcome for the interruption. Possibly, this was related to her silent retreat from the table and disappearance to the stairs.
Several minutes later, she returned, carrying a thick, leatherbound tome heavily magicked against the ill-effects of time and other, less natural mischief. This was a familiar book to regulars of the inn--passed down to Dia from the previous innkeep, Pheryl, it contained the runes used to cast bastet spells.
The current innkeep liked the fire-proofing rune, herself.
She brought the book over and set it down at the table near Pervy, pulling out a paper-filled folder from the inside cover and passing it to the man.
"Here I thought I'd wind up selling this in the city somewhere for a fine deal of money--oh well." She waved her hand dismissively. "Cap'n, if you don't haggle that well, I swear by Nekogami's first litter--" Dia glanced sideways at the seaman, narrowed eyes glinting; the corner of her mouth lifted in humor, showing just the tip of a fang.
Silly halfdragons.
Dia's expression turned serious as she moved around to look at him directly. "You planning on moving out right now, or do you have a few days to set things up?" Ears twitched in obvious agitation as her jaw worked slightly. "Y'know, if you give me a couple days or so, so as I could arrange things, it might be I could come along and help things out."
