Molokidan vs. The Floor

"Grr...." Molokidan growled, scraping at the floor in vain. "This is really annoying!"

In frustration, the young sushijin reached into the depths of his jacket, and brought out his Chopstick Katanas.

Morphing them to their sharper, katana form, he turned to look back down to the floor, a strangely sadistic gleam in his child-like eyes. "ALRIGHT!" he shouted. "I'M GONNA HACK YOU TO BITS!"

With that, he slashed each katana down at the floor, hoping to do some damage.

"What the.."

Molokidan sat on the floor, looking at his chopsticks, which, for the first time in their existence, seemed...broken?

"Guys..." he said. "This is not good!"

WHEE!

Damian continued up to the end of the ramp, frowning slightly.

"Why build it then, if it serves no purpose? Maybe we just can't see the purpose yet."

The ramp doesn't go anywhere- It stops in thin air. The end is smooth and hard-cut, giving evidence that it was built to be just like this, and evidence against the idea that it used to connect to something else and was thus broken off.

The more Damian sees, the more likely his conclusion is.

Damian frowned, then crouched, feeling along the edge of the ramp in search of an invisible continuation or possibly some mechanism that would do... something. He wasn't quite sure, but ramps to nowhere certainly didn't make sense.

Chantelle, meanwhile, was examining the side of the tower. "I'm just wondering what this stuff is made of, myself."

The ramp doesn't go anywhere, invisible or otherwise. No switches are found.

This structure, which looks vastly different from the other structures, is like cement with a polished-marble-like smoothness.

"I'm a gunner, not an engineer," Damian growled, almost snapping at his companion in frustration before regaining his temper.

"Frustrating, that's what it is."

Raising an eyebrow, Klaus looked at the chopstick welding kid, finally giving in: "Yes. This is no good indeed"

Wordlessly, (not trusting what he might say next and possibily hurting a kid's feelings) he turned back to the floor, casted his sheild-swordy thing. Brittle it might be, but the atoms-wide blade definately has cutting power.

If this does not even nick the floor, I'll ... I'll .... erm .... , Klaus thought as he swung the blade to the floor

Chantelle replied, "You know, if we could find any writing whatsoever, that would be really nice."

Meanwhile, she was using her vantage point at the top of the tower to survey the land.

WORLD MAP GET

Klaus lunges his arm forward, encountering no resistance whatsoever, and yet the floor remains undamaged.

That's because nothing happened.

It's odd- he feels the magic being used, it just isn't making anything happen. Wierd.

Ahh, crap. This stuff can't be worth all of the effort, even though the failure of his magic is disconcerting. It didn't even fizzle- it's like he never cast the spell in the first place, except he KNOWS he cast the spell because he spent some power to do it. He can FEEL the slight dip in his reserves that his spell required.
-------------------------------------------------------
The tower is a fine vantage point, since, squat as it is, it's still one of the highest points she can see.
Off to the south, she can see some rolling plains, a small line of gray at the edge of it, and a bunch of clouds. The temple is to the southwest, the area where the monolith should be is to the west (though she can't see it at this distance), and the forest they were in is to the northwest. She can make out their crash site somewhere in the middle of it, thus covering where she has been.

She seems to be in the southwestern part of the island, though- it expands a lot more to the north and to the east.

The easiest feature to make out is the river- it flows from a lake in the far north to the south edge of the island, not going out into the clouds (which is vaguely reassuring), winding slightly between the few hills that crop up. There are some ruins to the southeast at the river bank- what might have been at one point a bridge. Another bridge is visible at the center of the island, by her judgements. Something that looks like it could be a town is to the far north, a bit west of the lake. Southeast of the town is a larger ruin that looks like it could be a keep or a manor, with a circular forest kind of molding itself around the eastern wall.

The strangest part, though, is what looks like a bridge at the very furthest north of the island. Or maybe not quite a bridge, but sort of like a dock. A dock-bridge. The details are hard to make out at this distance, but it leads into some empty sky, not entirely unlike the ramp on the tower that they're on right now.

It also stands out since it's a different color than the other structures, excluding the tower they're on right now.

Maybe there's some connection?

Chantelle realized something, and blurted out, "Maybe this tower is supposed to be where other airships or floating islands can dock with this one!"

It was perhaps lucky for Molo that Klaus was a magician: without the learned ability to concentrate, Klaus would had not be able to hold back his anger... (and murder the kid where he stood)

Still, a little angry grunt escaped his lips, evidence of his "in training" status...

Klaus blinked..... and blinked again. "That was... surprising." he thought to himself. "Luckly I did not promise to give up magic or something if I failed... phew"

Leaving the problem of the uncuttable floor aside, Klaus stood up, looked up, and yelled "Anything interesting up there?"

"Wow, you know, you're weak for a magician!!" Molo said, patting Klaus on the back happily, then suddenly breaking into a hearty laughter.

Winfred is terribly busy making sure his companions didn't murder each other, intentionally or otherwise. ._.

And seeing as there looked to be still be hostilities and liabilities about, he didn't peel away from monitoring his companions. Yet.

Damian started, then gave Chantelle a feral grin.

"Great idea there, girl. We might figure out this shit yet!"

He scanned the area she was looking at, then stretched his arms.

"We should go check that area then, see if there are any links. Might be a bit of a walk, but I'm up to it."

No sooner spoken than done, as he proceeded down the ramp.

(I found my maps!)

Damian proceeds down the ramp to the ground after winding around a couple of times. His previous options of where to go are still open to him, though if he wants to head to that... thing... on the other side of the island, he'd better get a move on. The sun might be high overhead, but it can't stay there forever, and who knows what kind of crap happens around here at night.

-------------------------------------------

As Klaus and Molokidan continue their... erm... catastrophe in the making? the raised table-thingey continues to glint in the sunlight. The different material is especially noticeable since everything else is pretty much the same color. Afterall, it shines and everything else doesn't.

"Yeah. Plus, we'll be able to tell where this floating island is floating over. We might have drifted out to sea or over Baron or something." Chantelle replied, following Damian.
