The group started off quickly enough. Walking about an hour or so through the hilly, grassy countryside, they finally reached the last hill. As they descended to the foot of the small hill, they found themselves looking across a great plain. Wind blew through the tall grass, making it sway wildly. Far in the distance, a city rose from the uniform flatness of the feild. Above it hung a dark, almost black cluster of clouds, and heavy rain could be seen falling, even from the distance. On foot, it would take at the very least a few hours to get there, and the faster they moved, the better.
And move fast they did. The evenness of the plains was helpful in that respect. The rain began quickly picking up as the outskirts of the city became visable- Groups of small, clustered houses with a very small number of people walking, not running, between them. It seems the people have gotten used to the constant rain over time, not letting it bother them at all. A couple members of the party got a good look at a couple of the citizens- ranging from 5 feet or so to about 6'4 in the tallest of the people they saw, clad in what appeared to be casual clothing, only with leather sewn onto it. Although the clothing may look a bit odd to the travelers, Inverse would know it's the style here in Barius- Even young children wore slightly protective clothing of some sort. Inverse also knew they had entered the area of the Eternal Storm- It was now pouring rain, and lightning danced in the sky, flashing down every now and then, usually hitting a lightning rod.
As they worked their way into the city, the houses began getting bigger, and a few shops of various kinds could be seen- Quite a few weapons shops, some shops for various magic supplies, a general store or two, even a cafe. Through the street walked men clad in gray and dark blue uniforms- Army troops serving to police the city. The group passed a rather large looking bar and inn- The Storms Eye, and it seemed relatively calm, expecially by Barian standards- Not even a brawl happening- yet. Further down the main road, two sights could be seen- The first was the woman from before conversing with Giovanni outside a large building Inverse recognises as an army office. On the wall is a large, rain beatten banner reading "Registration"- If anyone wanted to sign up, they'd have to go to that building there. Luckily for them, Giovanni ended his conversation and began walking away from the group. Anyone bothering to watch him would see that he was headed for a rather large building, presumably the castle, at the end of the main road. The castle itself was dark, contrasting strangely with the lights coming from the windows. The sky flashed above the castle most often- The lightning hitting what appeared to be a large spike coming from atop the castle.
And there they stood- The rain beating down on them, the sound of the patrons within The Storms Eye conversing happily, the woman from before entering the registration building, and life as usual in the City of Storms going on about them.
