"Trolls? Cooking? Hmm. Let's go get some food!"

Shina grinned and headed for the dining area, tail swishing.

I made a friend!

Red smiled and spoke to D from a little further off from the doorway, not too loudly so as not to disturb the Trolls. "Isn't it amazing, D? I've never seen a Troll, let alone a Troll cook something for us."

"Yeah... Amazing"

D took a step forward, put his arms behind his head and whistled loudly

"But eh, anything's bound to be better than your cooking."

Red crossed his arms prudently, "you just don't appreciate it cos you've never lived in the wild."

"I would like to point out that I have lived for three whole years in the wild, foxface."

D grinned.

"You lose."

RedFox growled and his ears folded over.

"bastard...!"

He knew that if he said that out loud D would have something witty to say about that too... and he knew what.

"You know how it is at table, D. You either take it or leave it."

D grinned. Red was such an easy target, it was quite not fair...

"Why do you think I ate your cooking in the first place?"

RedFox snarled slightly,

"Gawd... what did i do to deserve this...?"

But suppressed anything, since he knew threatening would only lead to his total smackdown. He just sighed and walked out of the hut slowly.

D watched Red leave. He knew he was quite in a bad mood, but it was far from the first time that he had made fun of Red, and he knew things usually got better in a few hours' time.

GOOD EATING!

Unread postby Nekogami » Fri Feb 21, 2003 11:02 am

The smell of troll cooking was interesting. It smelled spicy and sweet. The female troll and poured an almost black liquid over the chunks of rabbit and a red liquid of the pheasant.
Meanwhile, the male trolls were commenting on the pelts and feathers they recieved and were popping the heads off of thick grubs and putting them in the salad. The liquid that oozed fromt he larva was poured into a pitcher with herbs, oil, and the blood from the game.

The female troll, with no tusks but overlong arrow straight ears turned and to the party. "Eit's almose ready dun, ya mons."

She had been watching D and Red go back and forth, and when Red left, she couldn't resist.

"So does that mean when Miiam stops babying us on this adventure, you'd like to try your hand at the cooking? I don't expect he will anymore."

And without waiting for reply she found a place to sit and wait for the trolls to finish.

Corantir skewered a nice sized trout, gaining a cheer from the troll. "You good."

Miiam wonder up to them and looked at Cor and his friend. Goodness! You've made a friend too. I think that this troll is being searched for by his companions however..

D looked at Shada and smiled in a more sincere way than he did to Red.

"Oh, no need to worry, Shada." he said "You see, it's not as bad as it seems. It'll be all right again in a few hours. Probably even less. 'sides, I should be the last one to speak seriously about that" he said, laughing to himself a bit "Nope, I'm quite not a cook."

Red stormed out of the hut and ran towards the back for some shade. He sat down roughly and slammed the side of his fist into the wall behind him angrily. The fact that it was throbbing because of that rather foolish and pointless action wasn't open for criticism, so he just shook his paw and ignored it.

"I HATE it when he does that! For ?@!*'s sake... Why I don't just zap him mentally in the first place is beyond me."

Yet again, his words were without much thought, and had anyone heard him, he'd have been victim to a lot more mockery than before, for he knew well and good who was the stronger of them both. He just sat and thought on, eyebrow and tailtip twitching every now and again...

Kilra blinked as she watched Shina happily move downstairs. The warrior was apprehensions as to whether the food would be safe to consume or not. But if the catgirl wasn't afraid....

She began to move down the stairs, trying to look as pleasant as possible.

RedFox eventually calmed down, and his mind quickly wandered off to other things. Unfortunately, or fortunately - depending on how you put it - his concentration fell on the trolls. The sight of some of the ingredients being put in seemed appetizing enough, though some of them were rather... original, to say the least.

He twitched, and his thoughts quickly fell on other things.

Shina plodded into the dining room, smiling.

"Food food food, we get to eat!"

Her tail swished behind her, looking quite odd on her otherwise human body.

The trolls gave a traditional cheer, signalling that the food was done. They began to partition out the food for everyone and set the plates of food out for the travelers. "Itsa good mon. Eat eat!" said the femal troll. The male trolls nodded in agreement starting on their own plates.

Shina sat down and looked her food over, then decided any food was good.

"Dig in!"

The human/catgirl did just that, wolfing down the food.

Shada took her portion and began eatting delicately, trying to savor each taste. While she wasn't totally certain this was going to be safe, she rather risk indigestion than insult the three trolls.

"Mmm-hmm. Sounds like food's ready... One thing, though... We're still one missing"

With that, D turned around, as if he'd be there at that precise time, coming..

RedFox padded in slowly, and before doing anything else, he turned his head to D and said,

"Don't say anything."

He sat down and looked at his food, after which he looked at everyone else at table. Apparently, nobody had thrown up yet, so he assumed the food was safe. He ate slowly, eyes never wandering from his plate or the table directly in front of him.

Making her way over to the table, Kilra sat down, making sure there was an empty seat beside her.

"D, over here!" she called, waving to catch his attention.

D turned around, to see that Kilra had kindly left him a place on the table next to her. So as not to make her wait, and figuring that Corantir can take care of his own, he went and sat down where Kilra suggested, next to her.

He grinned widely, which was probably the first time that he did so since they started the journey.

"Ah... Can't wait for a meal and a nice sleep, then tomorrow we can continue..." he said...

The Troll meal was interesting. The salad with the grubs had a slightly sweety slightly spicey taste. The grubs were very much almond flavored. The black sauce was very spicey but the red sauce was not spicey, kind of sweet and sour. The meal over all was very filling.

Just then Corantir came in singing a song with a troll, waving a spear in one hand and a trout in the other.

"Sorry I'm late. But I made a new friend!" Corantir gave the troll a pat on the back.

The other trolls hailed their friends and offered up some of the leftover food to them.

"Hey....I never thought eating bugs would be delicious but this salad is a triumph to my palate." Corantir finished with a contented sigh. "I think I'm going to stay hear for a bit and learn some pole arm skills with my friend here. Don't worry, about me. I'll catch up in no time. I just want to get in a little more practice before we face Poppione."

Mind you, D didn't need much encouragement for eating. Probably starting last and finishing first...

In any case, the food on the plate was gone.

Then, he turned to the Corantir

"Hey, thought you wouldn't be back or something. Where the hell were you?"

RedFox yawned. It was a big, long yawn, with an included tonguecurl too. Obviously, he was tired from the busy day, and wanted to at least get a little nap.

"If it's ok with you guys, I'm gonna go get some shuteye..."

Corantir took a drink of water from his cup. "I was having a bit of friendly competition with my froun Yuhsman, here." Cor gave the troll a squeeze on the shoulder. "I've learned a lot from him about pole arms and such. The fishing we did was excellent training."

D smiled, and edged closer to Kilra, putting (or trying to) his arm around her shoulder, gently stroking along her ear with a finger.

"Yes, I think it's time we go, Kilra. We have a long day ahead."
he said, but didn't let go.

Kilra stopped eating, enjoying the attention much like a cat liked being petted.

"Yes, bed suddenly sound very attractive...the day will be a long one." she said, suddenly feeling rather tired herself, and demonstrated this with a large yawn.

"Well, yes..." he said, rather tired himself.

He hugged a bit tighter, not really moving her much, though.

"Well, I'm off, Kilra. See you." he said, yawning, stretching, and walking off towards the designated room.

So after cleaning up after themselves, the party of Ruinnoc, went to bed. Shada, Shina, and Corantir in the loft; D and Kilra in the bed. Miiam meanwhile showed the trolls the bridge he made for them it as simple and made of vines, rocks, and trees.

The trolls commended Miiam, of course, for a horse he didn't a decent job. Naturally, they with troll guidance it could have been much better. They awarded Miiam with for his gift with a troll custom. A final gift. The was troll poison.

Troll poison: a brackish substance in a then vial. Deals 5d10 damage.

RedFox quietly curled up outside, right next to the door. Anyone would've called him stupid for doing as he intended, to sleep outside on unknown turf. But he was used to it, and he didn't complain. In fact, he felt more comfortable there, feeling far from home never could let him sleep properly, but knowing that he's under the same sky made him that bit more relaxed, and he quickly drifted off to sleep.
