Kyra seemed a bit surpirsed as Daniel's attack missed and decided to try herself as she darted forwards, swinging at the mephit in front of her fiancee with her staff.

Gah... I didn't expect it to be so fast... >_>;;; Daniel thought to himself. He turned to watch Kyra, hoping his love would fare better than he had against the creature...

As Kyra ran toward her target, Dan felt his stomach tighten, beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead. He wanted to leap up off the ground and charge the Mephit, anything to keep his fiancee from possible harm. Dan knew it wasn't physically possible, by the time he'd even get to his feet her attack would have been long completed. It made him think about something he hadn't thought of before...

Kyra often went on long trips away from Doma, on missions of mercy, to help a friend of hers or the royal family on occasion. Every time she returned he was overjoyed, taking her out to a hearty dinner and ask her about her trip. He rarely dwelled on it, but their current situation caused Dan to wonder. What other dangers could possibly wait out in the world? Would Kyra be able to handle herself? Could he bear to be without her by his side, without knowing what was happening to her? Could he live with himself if he wasn't there and something happened...?

For now though, that choice was out of Daniel's hands, as the follower of Ishtar continued forward...
