Derill nodded. "I'm ready... once we get supplies, that is. I don't like travelling without being prepared..."

Then he thought about zombie dragons for a short time. "Let's see... so the worst we may have to deal with looks much like myself, except for the fact that it has rotting flesh. Got it."

He had probably made a very bad generalization of a zombie dragon, but, then again, he only tried for a brief description, based off of what he knew about zombies...

Mahou mentally ticked off what they would need in her mind.
Potions, phoenix downs or pinions, I'll need a new weapon, maybe one with holy affinity....ethers, elixers....

Mahou nodded to herself and headed outside. She paused in front of the house to wait for the others.

Darin strode outside, eyes lowered as usual to stand near Mahou. "The...the item shop's over there, if you want to stop by, I guess. It's that shop with the sign, the one that says 'Yulin's Traveling Supplies,' I think."

He nodded quietly, hoping he had made a good, non-conflicting suggestion.

(Everybody's got 200 GP travel allowance, I'd estimate.)

Not Paying Attention, WAI!!! ^o^

Unread postby Nakibe » Tue Jun 04, 2002 5:58 pm

"Miss Aya?!? How is it that a cute dwagon can be a scary zombie thingy, huh? I mean, I've seen a couple zombie thingies here and there with Big Brother...they were all like 'Grrr' and stuff and with bones sticking out of their flesh and looked Very very SCAAARRRY.... but dwagons are so nice and cute and cuddly and scaley and fun and stuff. Like Azul is. I miss Azul... and the way he'd eat sandwiches with me... I wish I had a sandwich right now, I'm hungry...."

In other words, the whole conversation had flown by Solis.

Squintz walked outside, nodding at Mahou and Darin. He checked his coin purse (which was just a bag for his coins, don't get any ideas) for its contents, and satisfied with the results and his mission, he waited calmly for the others.

(I'm going to assume everyone wanted to go shopping.)

After a short walk, roughly ten minutes or so, the group had arrived outside local apothacary, prepared to make some purchases to outfit themselves for their journey. As they entered, they noticed that, unlike some other shops of its kind, this one did not resemble a cross between a wizard's lab and a living quarters, suggesting the idea that the owner of the shop potentially bought and imported all of his wares.

The owner himself, a short blonde man of medium build, leaned on the counter, smirking at the newcomers. "Welcome to Raile's," he called out. "I've got just about everything you could possibly want, so just holler when you figure out what you need."

(Everyone's got a travel allowance of roughly 200 GP, I figure, except Solis, who probably has less [he's a 13 year old kid] and Aya, who probably has a bit more, say 300 [she's the queen].)

"What do you have as far as revival sort of potions go? Oh you wouldn't happen to have anything that'll restore mana would ya?" Aya thought back to the last time she had a major battle, deciding that she didn't want to feel the nauseous taste of astral drain again, "Oh yeah....do you have softs too?"

(OOC: That is so, AM. *makes note of travel allowance*)

Derill checked his money pouch as he entered Raile's. His money was still there... a good thing, too, considering that this was probably going to be the most dangerous mission he had ever taken part in.

His first concern was mana potions, then healing potions. He'd worry about other stuff later, considering that he had his capabilities.

Raile nodded and scanned his shelves. "Well, mana restoration, yes, I have some of those...oh, and yes, petrification cures. These are fairly strong healing potions, they'll restore an unconscious victim if you can get em' to swallow it, or at least rub it on their wounds or forehead..."

He picked up a luminescent green bottle and tapped at it tentatively. "Hmm," he muttered. "These're lightly effective mana restoration potions, and I charge 100 GP each for them. They're not cheap to make or order, you know! Softs are 125 GP, I've got some lesser healing potions for 50 and stronger ones for twice that, and...if you need anything else, let me know."

"Hmm..." Aya reached into her robes, pulling out a small purse, "I think I'll go with......a soft, a mana restoration potion, and one of the weak healing potions please." she nodded curtly, plopping down a small pile of coins on the nearest available flat surface.

Derill walked over to Raile and took his coin pouch in his hand. "One mana restoration potion, and one of the stronger healing potions, please." Then, Derill waited for when he could open his coin pouch and pay for what he was acquiring.

Squintz thought. He had enough money for a stronger healing potion and a mana restoration potion, but that would drain his travelling money. However...if he got the weaker healing potion, he might not be protected in case of injury. His healing magic was limited, after all. He decided to 'bite the bullet,' and spend all his money.

"I'll take one strong healing potion, and one potion of restoration." Squintz plopped his money down on the counter.

The shopkeeper collected the adventurer's money and handed over the items they had requested promptly, then glanced around at the remaining members of the group. "Any other requests? And if we don't have it, we can find it!"

meep meep...

Unread postby pd Rydia » Thu Jun 06, 2002 11:36 am

Sniff sniff. Azul smelled something.

Sniiiff. It smelled really good!

SNIFF! Not good like sandwiches good, but more good like...he wasn't sure. No matter...it smelled good!

A small, thin, navy-scaled lapdragon scampered along the cobblestones of Telluria. He skittered along, muzzle in the air, following the scent toward his goal of...something. Something vaguely familiar that smelled good, and brought up pleasant but blurry memories. The scent filled his entire mind, making him he'd temporarily forget his quest to find 'his' human, and making him completely forget his recent scare from the crackling energy of magic and rank stench of death from earlier. No, there was no time to worry about that. Right now, he was on the hunt for the source of this enchanting, alluring, and comforting smell.

The scrawny lapdragon found a hole in the wall of a building, from which the smell was wafting stronger than ever before. It was larger than a mouse hole...perhaps a rat had made it. Whatever...it didn't matter, it would make a fine entrance...Azul dived into the hole!

The smell was even strooonger...Azul meeped quietly, and wriggled furiously. While barely larger than a larger rat himself, his akward, juvenile wings made the navigation of the hole difficult. He finally popped out the other end of the tunnel...and the smell was overwhelming, filling his senses and making him dizzy.

HAPPY PLANT! He thought, pouncing upon a nearby bag and digging his way into it. Sniffing, scratching, and chewing, the lapdragon buried himself in the dragonnip, meeping with intoxicated joy.

While muffled, his insistent meeping was more than audible to the group of adventurers currently shopping in the apothecary's.

Mahou plunked down her money pouch. "I should like to have a potion and make the rest revivifies if you have them." She didn't intend to be turned into a zombie if she could help it. Fighting them was disturbing enough.

The shopkeeper blinked. "You're hearing things," he muttered, as he dug around for the holy water under the counter. He produced two vials and the light healing potion, as Mahou had requested, and took her 200 GP. "That stuff's good if you're cursed, and it can be used against zombies too, I hear. Such nasty creatures don't much like being doused with holy water."

Solis was bored. He didn't have more than 50 G in his little pouch, and he wasn't exactly interested in the conversation with the the shopkeep.... but he did hear something....somewhat faint....

meep meep....

"What'sthatsound?!? It sounded like Azul, but.... oh, I miss him... he was so cute and cuddly and he liked sandwiches and he was so fun to play with and everything...."

Meep Meep....

"I miss him so much that I'm hearing him in my head right now but he's not here and I really wish he was..."

Meep [/b]

"But if that's in my head.... why's it so loud?"

No sooner had the words left Solis's lips...than the little lapdragon in question tumble drunkenly out of the bag of dragonnip. Dry leaves stuck between scales and minature talons, and a sprig stuck out of his mouth.

^____^ "Meeeep!" he chirped, stumbling around. "Griao meep meep...merp!"

"AZUL!!!" shouted happily as he ran and scooped up the little lapdragon, hugging him and talking excitedly.

"OhI'msoveryverygladthatIfoundyou!!! Hey, Where'd you go anyways" he said out loud... not remembering for the moment that Azul didn't understand him.

Derill, taking his two potions and putting them in his belt, noticed the 'meep' sound, but didn't know what was going on.

Then he noticed Solis's reaction.

So THIS is the 'Azul' he mentioned earlier. Derill thought for a moment. Once Solis picked up Azul, Derill decided to ask him about it. "Didn't you tell me something about this 'Azul' before, Solis?"

(OOC: If I remember right, Nak, there was a part of a telepathic conversation between Derill and Solis that mentioned Azul. Which is where that comes from.)

@_@ "Meep, meep! MERP!" Azul hiccupped, sniffed Solis carefully, and then snuggled into the boy's palm. 'Hiiiiiii~! Look is happy plant happy makes me happy happy so fun I'm flying now I'm so big wheeeee~!' Azul nearly fell out of Solis's hand, telepathing his words sporadically, along with bits of feeling drunk. "Griao...merrple..." The lapdragon sighed and curled up contentedly, appearing to fall asleep in Solis's hand.

Darin blinked, reaching up to scratch his head in confusion. "What an...interesting creature. Is this a lapdragon? Hakaril...mentioned Fluffy, Dia's lapdragon, at least once. Well, it is nice to acquaint myself with such a creature at last..."

Cautiously, the time mage extended a hand to pet Azul.

Derill gave Darin a slight look.

"As much as I'd want to get used to a lapdragon," Derill began, "since I myself have never SEEN them, I think we have business to take care of. We can spend time with this lapdragon after we take out the two evils we've heard so much about."

Then Derill thought of something. He added, "Once we get going, I have to ask you something, as well."

Mahou didn't care for the comraderie and fluffiness of the situation, so took her things and walked outside. She leaned against the wall to wait for the others.

She briefly wondered why such things gave her such an adverse feeling but then again, she thought, she was always that way. Her father bought her the pinkest and frilliest dresses the market had to offer...And she always hated it. Mahou from her childhood to now...just wanted to be left alone.

She clenched her fists. "Mother leave me alone...."

The brooding elf and the depressed mage...

Unread postby Archmage144 » Fri Jun 07, 2002 6:05 pm

Darin, feeling it unnecessary for him to spend what little money he had yet on supplies, stepped outside as well. The mage had only slight faith in humanities ability to toy with the powers that were, even when it came to the concoction of simplistic potions and ointments. As it was, humanity was still a sad, barbaric race at times.

We are all fools, Darin sighed inwardly, walking over to Mahou.

"Excuse me, but you seem a bit...unhappy..."

Mahou glanced over at him then looked ahead, eyeing the town with little interest.

"If you mean I have a lack of happiness then that is simply because I have little reason to express happiness. My current state is emotionless." She glanced back at Darin. "It is you who seems to be troubled." She then averted her gaze again. She didn't want to here his heartmelting story but people seemed to take her silence as an invitation to cry they're hearts out.

Darin replied to Mahou's response with an equally cold silence, not a word of any misfortune or difficulty of his sliding past his lips. If he had difficulties, he was most definitely not about to share them with anyone. Finally, he spoke, saying little, yet saying much.

"The entire world is troubled," he sighed sadly, turning to lean against the wall and wait for his last companion, Derill.

Squintz had pocketed the items as soon as they were given to him. He had spent all his money...but it was good to have the comfort they provided. He knew his magic could only go so far. Walking out of the store, Squintz stood, waiting for the others to finish shopping. He stood away from Darin and Mahou, seeming somewhat aloof.

Azul apparently revived as Solis scratched him, mrring contentedly and nuzzling his thumb. Spotting the coins (SHINY!), he reached over and batted one skillfully from Solis's hand, knocking it to the floor. Pouncing upon the coin, he began chewing it gleefully.

A quick thought before we go...

Unread postby Divinegon2130 » Fri Jun 07, 2002 9:56 pm

Derill, having seen enough of the little lapdragon, turned to leave Raile's... when he suddenly thought of something.

He turned at the door towards Solis, and put his fingers to his head... a certain gesture of what was going to happen next, if Solis spotted it. If Solis didn't see it, he would know when Derill telepathed him.

"Derill again. Sorry about this, Solis, but I just remembered. When we split up, try to update me regarding how well the... four of you are doing once in a while."

He then turned back to join up with Mahou and Darin. He had to think about the last part and assumed that Azul was going with Squintz, Aya, and Solis.

"...all things considered," Darin murmured, "should the three of us be going? I believe..."

He pointed to a flyer tacked on the side of the wall, one that advertised cheap ferry tickets across to the nearby island, a quiet, largely undisturbed place for a relaxing getaway. The major city and port, Veran, was, so said the flyer, a reputable place, clean, elegant, and well ruled.

"Yes, we should get moving."

Derill then started looking around for where the actual ferry was...

And off we go!

After a little bit of walking, Darin, Mahou, and Derill arrived at the ferry dock. Brightly colored signs, the bustle of people loading and unloading cargo, burly sailors and well dressed nobles all illustrated the port's grandeur. Off to one side, there was a long pier with a wooden gateway, and plasted across the gateway was a gaudy, multicolored sign which read "Ferry to Veran."

Walking through, the three of them came to the ticket booth, and were greeted by a rather large sailor with a few missing teeth. He grinned at Mahou, displaying a couple of gaps in his mouth, and nodded at the three.

"Tickets are 15 GP each. You guys can afford that, right?"

Darin nodded, paying for the three of them, and they proceeded to board the ferry. It would most likely be a fairly short trip...
