Will allowed his club to drop to the ground.

"I was only ten when Father came to take Serie away." He said bitterly. "I remember it well, I was playing with her in the Guild. She wasn't even walking yet." He said. "Father just walked in, picked her up and walked away. He told me that she had to go, in order to be safe."

Wills fists clenched.

"Soon after that, I began my own training as a cleric, and found out that Miri had ben murdered. I suspected Vash, and now I know I was right. He had hated her, for reasons I would rather not say."

Will picked up his club and turned his back to them. His shoulders sank.

"If. . .if I knew where father was. . ." He said stiffly. "Maybe we could find out more.

As Will spoke Serie slept on, her face beaded with sweat. Her breathing was shallow and labored. On her wrist, the place where Deathins nails had dug into her skin, three large red swollen gashes.

Will turned and stared at Serie, his face filled with concern.

"Gods," he said slowly. "What is wrong with her?" He asked running to Sourne. "Is she sick?"

These scratches" he pointed at the bloody points. "Need to be healed now, or Daethe will have found a new host. Fortunately, you just said you were a preist. She needs more than my limited abilites." Sorune held her out for Will to heal.
"Heal her with all you can. Give as much goodness into the wound as possible. She is your sister. I am merely a friend."

~Am I a friend of Serie's father? Can these memories still be trapped in this stupid moon? But, he might help me to remember...my name. The one thing I need to know who I truly am. And I shall need to meet with her Father to find it. But first,~ Grandpa Moon grabbed the small satellite, and used the edge of his axe to pick out a tiny grain, which he swallowed.
~No, wrong memory. But...wife? I have a wife who is younger than I am?~ He chiseled out another grain, and popped it into his mouth.
~Yes, there we go. Her father is a member of a council of high mages, and they are located thirteen miles north-northeast of here, about one mile underground. But I have a wife?~ Grandpa Moon struggled with inner conflict. Should he help them get to the council, or search for his wife?

will took Serie and laid her down on the grass. She gasped for air and groaned in pain. Will put his hand on her head, and the other on the markings.

"Death, the touch be gone." HE said closing his eyes. "Free from Pain, angels sing your mercy. Save the innocent. . .set free the spirit, and trap the evil."

Will felt his powers growing but something was wrong. He felt as if something were pushing him way. He held firm, his eyes narrowed and full of strain.

"CONTAIN!" Will screamed. "Remove all that should not be!" Serie was surrounded by a soft glow, but it disappeared quickly. Will fell forward.

"I. . .healed some. . .but its not all gone." He said weekly. "I. . am to week to . . .do anything." He said.

Serie rolled over and let out a sigh. She appeared to be sleeping normally, and without Pain. Will lifted her up.

"I don't know how long it will last." He said. "I got rid of Deathins influence, but there is something else wrong." He said.

"What?" Sher' Khan said wordily.

"I don't know." Will said. "I never had to do anything like this. I think it may be some kind of poison. I can keep her alive, but without the right antidote, she won't last long."

He said sadly.

"Shes fighting it though." Will said. "But I think that the what ever you two went through while we were fighting weekend her to much. We need help." He looked at Moon.

"We must find a temple. I may be able to find help there. She'll be fine as long as we keep her still, and as long as I keep healing her."

Will felt strained, and knew that he himself had been weekend. But he did not care, it had taken him to long to find Serie, and he wasn't about to lose her now.

(Hi blood and Dragon. I wanted to let you know that I will be out of town tomorow and won't be back late my time. If you need to please feel free to take control of Will, and Serie. That is part of the reason I wrote the way I did. See ya later.)

"No William. She wouldn't survive the trip. I'll have to...infuse her with some of my strentgh." Sorune sighed, and laid his hands on Serie's head. He suddenly noticed the angel was gone, when she could have been of help.
~Or maybe fate wanted to test me, to see if I can do nothing but follow it, or if I can break free of it and take others with me.~ He began muttering syllables, much too quickly and otherworldly for any of them to know, and seemed to coalasce in the air. When Sher tried to listen and look, he felt like his brain was going to explode, yet couldn't look away. The whole thing took what seemed like hours, but was actually minutes. Then the coalasced words surrounded Serie, and dissapeared. "It's done. She will live. But my energy will weaken inside of her. She will still need a preist. But she will never be the same, nevertheless. Having a piece of decay and destruction inside you, even for a short time, tends to warp a mind slightly. I wish" Sorune stopped for a second. "I wish that she hadn't come." Sorune sat down for a second. "I'm alright, I just need to rest a bit. Wouldn't you, after giving up a piece of yourself?"

Shaking his head confusedly, Herzad looked at Serie, then Sourne. "Ye need ta get to a temple. Both o' ye. Soon as ye can stand, we're goin', an' no complainin'!" The gruff dwarf kept his eyes open for any further trouble as Sourne rested, periodically glancing over to check on Serie.

What in the blazes is goin' on here? This don't make any durned sense... still... I'm not fer lettin' those ones off on their own. They're still needin' me help.

(Wow I got back early so I can post. Great posts guys. Oh the first part of this post is inside of Serie's mind. She won't wake up till after the temple thing but allot of things are going on in her head.)

Serie felt odd. She was walking in her dream field again. It was both horrible and beautiful. Half of the flowers seemed to be alive while the others dead. Everything was strange to her. The moon was a half moon. Something that hardly ever happened in her dreams. She felt very tired, and sick. And for a while she couldn't move.

Then she Saw Will, and then Sourne. Sourne had done something, something very powerful. Serie felt as if he had weakend himself. She sat down in the field.

"I wonder what is going on." She said. She heard laughter, a familure laughter. The laughter of Deathin. Serie jumped up and stared as a shadow appeared behind her. Then she saw Vash.

"Dream. . .dream." The chanted. Serie took off running. Something inside of her told her to run. That if she didn't something would happen. Something horrible.

All around her, darkness and light was fighting.

"HELP!" She called out. Then she stopped to see a woman dancing under the light of the moon. She held out her hands to Serie and smiled. Serie walked to her.

"Who are you?" She asked. The woman looked slightly hurt but knelt down and hugged Serie close. Serie felt safer there, even though she could hear Deathin and Vash. Their chanting was starting to fade some. But it was still there..

Will walked over to Sourne and then looked at Herzad. "I know of a temple close to hear. Maybe. . " Will said picking up Series crystal he handed it to Herzad. "We may be able to get her there by night fall. Its this way." He looked at Sher Khan and then to Sourne.

"Can you tell him what I say?"

Sourne nodded.

"I need you to run ached Sher Khan." Will said. "Your the fastest of us all. Head north from hear, you'll come across a small stream. Follow it and you will reach there. We will follow. There should be a woman there. Her name is Illia. She might be afraid of you, but if you show her Serie she will take care of her until I get there. She is the only one there."

Will looked at Sourne.

"One we get there," he said. "I can heal her. The place is abandoned except for Illa." Will carefully tied Serie to Shers back. Sher Khan took off running. Will watched on, hoping that they had time.

Sher' Raced as quickly as he could to the temple, vaguely aware that Serie was mumbling something even his keen ears couldn't pick up. Something about them laughing, and being driven away. However, he still couldn't hear all of it, and didn't want to risk slowing down for her either.
***
Sorune suddenly looked a bit older, as if he just aged a year.
"I'll be fine, just let me rest a minute. I sorely need it, as does William. And Herzad, I wish to ask your forgiveness. I thought to leave you out of this by not allowing you to follow me, but instead, everyone came. You, however, probably had the most trouble following me, even with Sher'Khan's help. I believe you went in the wrong direction, did you not? I may have imposed a worse risk upon you than I would have if I'd simply allowed you to come."

Sher Khans feet beat down upon the ground, as he chace along the stream. Leaping over downed branches. Serie was starting to move on his back.

"No. . ." she moaned. "Don't let her get me. . .please."

Sher felt his feet fly faster. . .what ever William had done was going away.

Will sat down next to Sourne and looked at him.

"Theres a secret at the temple. .I can not utter it hear. But it is something that will heal us. . .and make our powers come back much faster." William whispered. "But I can not utter it hear. As soon as you can walk, we will go."

Will sat down and looked at Moon.

"I must apologize." He said. "I should have told you what I knew before. But. . when I realized you did not remember . .I could no longer hold a grudge against you." Will took out a small flask and took a long drink. He handed it to Herzard who looked at it funny.

"Just some wine." He said. "A small bit to make things feel a little better."

"I need to write this down." Grandpa Moon pulled a small notebook, very fine quality, with several gems and precious metals around the edges, out of his pocket, along with a small feather. "This is one of the few things I have. This Book never runs out of pages, and this quill never runs out of ink. I have been trying to piece my life together ever since I lost my memory. When I eat a bit of that" He jabbed at the moon. "I gain a small memory, but only for about three minutes." While he talked he wrote ferociously, his hand hard to follow. "And I've gotten much better penmanship. But I understand your apologies, and they are not needed. But I give my thanks, and will remember you if possible. But, you need not say what the secret of the temple is."
~I already know~
"I understand why you wish to keep it out of prying ears. But we should make haste all the same. Sorune, can you walk yet?"
"Yes...a little. Just don't go too quickly."

Sher Khan stopped dead in his tracks. The Temple, it just appeared, or so it seemed. It was so covered in vines and small plants that it seemed to blend in with the forest. He roared loudly.

A few minuets went by, then the door opened and a woman stepped out, she wore a long light blue robe with a hood that covered her face so much that only her eyes could bee seen.

Her eyes were kind, but a little scared.

Sher turned to show her Serie. The woman ran over to Serie and untied her. With out a word she entered the Temple. Sher followed her to a small room where there were a few beds. She laid Serie on the bed and put her hand on her forehand.

"The child is on fire." She said and looked at Sher. "You seem more than what you are." She said and walked out of the room. She soon returned with a cloth and put it on Series head.

"If only there was a priest." The woman said. "All were killed over a year ago. Your masters?" She asked Sher. "Are they coming?"

Masters? Sher thought. He decided to ignore the comment and nodded.

Series eyes tightened and she groaned again.

"No. .don't let her. . .don't let her hurt me."

In Serie's mind she was still with the woman. The woman was holding on to her. A soft glow surrounding them. But someone else was there. Pulling at Serie, trying to get her away. Serie clung on to the woman and fought as something dark started to surround her.

"Will. . " Serie said as Illia wiped the sweat from her brow. She stared at Serie, and for a moment her eyes narrowed.

"William?" She said allowed. "No. . .it must be someone else. He wouldn't dare come back hear."

The aftermath

Postby Dragon Sage007 » Fri Aug 23, 2002 12:54 am

Sher'Khan grabbed her robes in his mouth.
~Serie is going to live if I have to die to make sure of it. And if she can help Serie live, she's going to help. But how can I tell her what is going on? Charades? Better than nothing~
Sher released when he was certain he had her attention. He put up one claw.
"Huh? What are you doing?" Sher held up the claw more forcefully, then gave an overdramatic act of dieing. "First word? Dead? Death?" Sher nodded. He held up another claw, then took a swipe at a fly. "Hunted, killed, attempted to kill, battled" Sher nodded, pointed a claw at Serie. "Death tried to kill this little girl?" Sher nodded. "Oh my..."

"No wait," Illia said. "YOur telling me a name?" She thought for a moment. Her eyes grew large and scared. She picked up Serie and ran from the room and down the corridor. She placed her on a small alter surrounded by water.

"Death, in a name could only mean the goddess of death." Illia said shortly. "When your master comes he will know where I am. Go and rest."

She began to chant a prayer, the water around Serie glowed softly. Illia knelt down and went on praying.

Illia remained in the room with Serie, Sher would watch on till the others arrived.

After simply nodding to Sourne's apology, Herzad told him, "Ye did what ye thought was right, an' ah'm fine. Jes tell us next time." Herzad stalked the perimeter of the resting place, staying on alert, and more than a little antsy to follow Sher' Khan and Serie. Too, he felt a little let down by Sourne.

He couldn't a let me hit jes one? I wanted a fight, durn it!

However, his capricious mind soon turned to other things, mostly involving blacksmithing, mining, and of course, fighting.

Ah've gotta be crazy ta be doin' this stuff... An' ah've still gotta get me money from Sourne... but that can wait 'till he's on 'is feet.

(in Series mind once again)

Serie was holding tight to the hands of the woman. The woman was remarkably strong but what ever was after Serie was strong to. SO much so that it had her by the feet and was pulling at her.

It was like a tug of war between the woman and the dark force that was hunting her.

Serie closed her eyes and was close to tears, so afraid, she couldn't help doubting herself. She only wanted to go home, to go home with her father, with her friends.

"Do not doubt dearest," the woman said. Her voice was so soft, and reminded Serie of some unknown song, something she knew she forgot. The woman stood, still holding on to Serie's hands. Suddenly two large bright wings spread from behind her back and fell over Serie.

There was a loud scream as Serie felt her feet being released. What ever this woman was she was holding off the forces. But Serie could tell that the woman was weakening.

The woman hugged Serie to her.

"Sourne, Will, Herzard, Sher Khan, Grand Pa!" Serie said with some tears in her eyes. "Help, please don't them hurt me anymore!"

Then a great cry filled the air, as if a thousand voices were speaking to Serie, each trying to be the one to talk to her. Serie closed her hands over her ears, her mind felt as if it were going to exploded with pain.

(Wills Part)

Will felt a chill shoot threw him, as if someone were calling out to him. He stood and looked around, not sure if he was merely tired, or crazy.

"We must make haste. Serie still has need of us. Sorune, do you feel up to running, or will you catch up?" Grandpa Moon turned to the pale druid.
"N-no. I'll hurry, it won't be the death of me. I'll follow, and if I do fall behind, then I'll catch up eventually, you all can leave a rather obvious trail when running." Still, he looked very pale and was breathing heavily. "Just get to Serie as soon as possible. I'll be there, with you or behind you." Grandpa Moon nodded.
"Herzad, you may get some fighting yet. I have a feeling I know what's going on in Serie's mind, and you may be the only one of us that can stop it. her mind is still being attacked, and I believe that out of all of us, you have the strongest self-image. That is what counts in the battles of the mind." Grandpa Moon told him this while pumping his legs furiously to keep up. "But you must be wary, for the mind does not work the same as the physical world. You must keep vigilant, and remember to not harm anything that may be Serie's mind, for you would be killing a part of her. Understand?"

Illia suddenly gasped as her face became strained. Sher Khan stared forward suddenly afraid, his instincts were flaring. Something evil was going on.

"Shes. . .getting weaker." Illia said. "Don't worry," Illia said leaning over Serie. "You will be ok. Just be strong little one."

Illia reached into the water and wiped it over Series face, it seemed to calm Serie's breathing and Illia looked slightly relived. She turned to Sher Khan and frowned.

"This doesn't make any since." She said sternly. "This child has been put under a horrible curse, but she is fighting it as if she were. . ." Illia shook her head. "This is crazy, she can't be a mage. Shes way to young." Illia covered her eyes the. "Don't worry this place is holy." She said. "It will prolong what is coming, until whoever your with comes."

"But how. . could this child survive anything like this. By all rights she should be dead already." Illia said. "Strong magic is working inside her." Illia said wiping the sweat from Series brow. "If only we had a priest, and there isn't much of a chance that one is on the way."

~This all started with that stupid Mage. If he hadn't! The book! I still have it! I hope he wasn't lying, now when it counts most!~
"Herzad! Moon! Hold on!" Sorune cried out suddenly. "I..still...have...the..book. I'll teleport us there." Sorune quickly took the book from his pocket and undid the clasp.
~I certainly hope it isn't cursed.~
"To the farthest waters, to the farthest moons. Take us to our destination, take us there now. Take us beyond our dreams and hopes, and beyond the realm mortal men fear to travel. I call upon the power of teleportation, and send us to the temple by the river, with our friend Serie!" Suddenly, the forest around them seemed to spin around. The ground turned to sky, and the sky to mud. however, before anyone could even blink, they were there, and nearly on top of a preistess with a covered face.
~It worked. I'm glad, but this is not a powerful teleport spell. It would probably send me a hundred miles in the sky, just to have me plummet. That was the curse, that of foolishness.~
"It worked. The spell is gone now." Sorune shook some ashes from the book where the pages were. "And m'lady, I did not mean to startle you. Where is Serie? I must know."
"Oh, so you are the caretaker of the girl? Thank goodness. She's right back here." she motioned to a bed behind her. "She has a high fever, and is under some sort of curse. Are any among you preists? They alone can help her." She looked worried, even behind the mask.
"Lady, even a preist cannot do some things. Sorune, Herzad." Sher'khan growled warningly. "And Sher"khan. I am going to send each of you into her mind. I need you to focus on one thought, or else you may be scattered throughout her mind, and of little help. Each of you need to focus on saving Serie." The old man made a few peculiar motions with his arm, then caught the moon around his head, and threw it directly at Serie. It stopped above her eyes, and seemed to beckon to the three. "Concentrate." the old man seemed to be thinking about having his skull crack open, but looked to be in no pain. "NOW!" Suddenly, the three stood stock still. "My lady, they are in her mind. It is completely up to them, and if Will gets back, it would help."

"How dare you. . ." she said harshly. "So this is The Will you meant?" She said looking at Moon. Moon nodded, but was more focused on Serie.

"Illia. . " Will said slowly, and slightly hurt. "Its a long explanation I don't have time now. I need you to open the door. For Serie."

Illia stared at Will asif he were insane.

"Never," she said backing away. "I can't let you in. . .not after what you did." She said.

"Please if you don't the Sorceress will be lost." Illia spun around and stared at Serie, her eyes seem to shrink in fear and confused. With out a word she walked off. Will gently picked up Serie and followed.

"Time for me save you." Will said looking down at Serie. "And for once I promise not to fail you."

A whirling cacophony of thoughts assailed Herzad as his mind was suddenly and unexpectedly thrust into some sort of twisting void. He remembered the words of the strange old man, and with every ounce of his willpower, slowly bent his mind to helping Serie. A beacon of light shone in the distance of the mental plane, and Herzad felt his astral body drifting towards what he knew would be Serie's mind.

Maybe ah can't smash things with my hammer like this, but ah can still rip 'em apart... Ah think. What in blazes am ah gonna be doin' anyhow? Durn it all!

Herzad vaguely sensed the presence of Sourne and Sher' Khan in this strange world of the mind, but had no chance to concentrate on them as he stubbornly forced his way into Serie's mind to do... well, hopefully Sourne would know what to do, because Herzad, like usual, didn't have a clue.

Inside the mind

Postby Dragon Sage007 » Sat Aug 24, 2002 10:06 am

Sorune too was bewildered. But he took a look around him at this mind, and saw something other than what he expected. A field of flowers, half of them vibrant and alive, and the other half dead and bleak as night. Then he took a look at his companions. Sher'Khan looked confused, but determined. Herzad looked different somehow, but also confused.
~Battles are fought with willpower, not strength. Very well, I think I know what I need to do. And not even Daethe can stop me, not here, not now. Serie deserves her life, and she has worked hard for it as well.~
"Follow me." Sorune said wordlessly. "I think I know what to do."
~I hope I know what to do. But I shall not call upon the gods to help me. Not yet, and certainly not here.~
He shot ahead of his companions, looking over the field of half-dead flowers. He hoped to find Serie, or even a thought, but it was empty.
~No, I will find her. I will help her. And I certainly will not give up. No matter if it is the death of me, I will help. It shall not end this way.~
He looked around even more, for even the slightest difference. Not even a flower with different colored petals escaped his gaze.
"Look for something out of place. It will lead us to Serie." Suddenly, he heard a scream and saw a ourple light. "There!" Sorune cried out, pointing. "Serie must be fighting the curse. We must hurry."

Serie opened her eyes and looked around. The purpel light was surounding her. A large fild was spread out infront of her. And dark figures were starting to rise from teh tall grasses. Series eyes glazed over. Sudenly the figures were standing all around her.

"Surender. . ." dark voices said. Serie fell to her knees and put her hands over her ears. She looked up and gasped when she saw one of them standing right infront of her.

It reached out and put its hand on her head. Series eyes glazed over as it spoke to her.

"You . .are useless to them. They think that. Sourne doesn't care about you, nor does will. Your own brother, he forsaked you."

Serie shook her head slowly.

"Yes, and it is because of you that they all died. Look." The figure forced her to turn her head. Seire saw the bodies of her frinds laying on the ground.

THe figures laughed as Serie fell to her knees and cried. "If you hadn't fought us. . .theyd be alive. NOw there is no one for you. No one. You are alone."

"Alone," the voices chanted. THe senery melted away and Serie found herslef in a small room, a very famiure room.

"No. . ." she said gasping. The room had no windows, and one door. And standing in the door, was Vash. Serie found herself falling into a dark forgoten memory, and as she did the world in her mind shifted and changed to suit the new memory.

Chasing after Sourne in the strange field of flowers, Herzad didn't know what he would find at the purple light. All he knew was that something was hurting Serie, and he was going to stop it... for good.

"What are we s'posed do when we get there," he asked Sourne, "And how do we fix... this?" He motioned to the field of dead flowers, as he kept moving closer and closer to the odd purple light.

"I...don't know. I can't help them right now. But we must try to help somehow, whether it be the flowers or Serie. I just hope we're not too late." Suddenly, the ground around Sorune's feet shifted, and then the entire field. Nothing was the same as it was a second ago, and nothing was the same.
"No. I will not give up." Sorune murmured quietly. "Not now, when Serie needs all of us most."

Serie slunk back against the wall, this couldn't be. She was reliving that horrible day.

"Your to trusting." Vash said venomously. "Father was careless to allow you out of the garden." He towered over her and raised a hand. A small ball of fire formed. He threw it at Serie striking her leg. Serie fell to the ground holding her leg.

"Leave me alone, why'd you lie!" She said.

"To get you," he said. "We have plans for you, well someone does. My plans are to kill you. . .but since I can't do that I'll settle with torture."

Serie covered her head as four more entered the room. One was dressed like a jester, his eyes red and burning with hate. One was dressed in black, and had a eye patch over one eye. One was dressed similar to Vash, and the last. . .the last was Will.

"Finally," The jester said walking towards Serie. He laughed and stood on one leg.

Will stepped forward, his eyes oddly could and full of blank hatred.
"Deathin speaks," he said. "She must remain alive. . .but she says that you do as you wish."

___________

____________

Will stood infront of a large door. The door to the place he had long since seen. He closed his eyes and prayed, slowly the doors opened. Illia came up behind him holding Serie.

Serie was no longer in her robes, she wore a small white sleaveless gown, on her arms were red symbols that Illa had drawn.

"Shes read." Illa said. Will looked at Moon.

"I need you to be ready," Will said and steped into the door.
There laying infront of a large shimmering lake, was a large blue dragon. Its head lifted and turned to them, its eyes opened and stared down at them.

The dragon stared down at Serie and then at WIll, he lifted his tale and nodded at them to pass.

Will stepped into the water and began to chant.

"Cast away all poisons," the red marks on Serie's arms began to glow as the water began to swell around them."Purg!" Will shouted. He laid Serie into the water and watched as she slowly drifted down into the water.

The dragon moved into the water and stared down.

Sorune just ran ahead, certain he would find Serie where the light came from. He didn't expect what he saw.
"This is a time from when she was tortured, isn't it. No, Serie needs us doubly now, and I shall not give up. I shall press on. There will be nothing to stop me, save Serie herself. This shall not be how she dies, and I will not be around to see her die. She shall see her father again before she dies, I give my word." Sorune mumbled this so quietly noone but he heard it. He entered the small building he saw ahead of him, not even caring if it was dangerous or not. He was going to save Serie, no matter what.

The dark mage laughed and walked towards her. He looked up and his eyes narrowed.

"I was wondering when you were going to interferer."

Serie turned and and nearly fainted. There standing behind her was her father.

He was as she remembered him. He was a very old man, but in his eyes shone with kindness. Serie stood up and started towards him only to be grabbed by the Mage.

"Serie," Cross Starlight said standing tall. "Let her be." Cross said slowly.

"PAPA!" Serie said crying.

The mage laughed and hurled a large fireball at Cross. Serie watched in horror as her father fell to the ground dead.

Serie screamed and fell to the ground.

"No, papa. ..this didn't happen. ..not like this. Papa," she sobbed. The mage laughed, and Vash stepped from behind him.

"You killed father." He said smiling. "It was your fault."

Chanting rose around Serie as she cried and huged her knees. The purpel light flashed again as the flowers in the fild grew dark.

Will chanted on, and watched as Serie floated in the water. The dragon watched intensly, prehaps it was Serie's inosence that was saving Will. And Will knew that once the ritual was over, the Dragon would despence its justice on him.

When Sorune spoke, it was with the cold tone of determination.
"Serie, you are still within your mind. These are mere memories. They are only as real as you allow them to be. Herzad, this wizard tormented Serie and her family for who knows how long. But Serie must overcome them. And we must help." Sorune suddenly punched Vash. Hard enough to send him flying into the wall, leaving a small crack where his head hit. "But we cannot destroy them completely. They are part of her. Serie must overcome them. We need to go for the outside influence. She has chosen a form that would stay well hidden, but not well enough." Sorune stepped over to William, and ripped his face off as though it were rubber. "Is that not right, Daethe? We have a score to settle. You will leave Serie alone, and accept the banishment that befits you. No, it is still too good for you. But it is right. You shall not be free until you deserve it. And with luck, that shall not be for several eons. No, you and I shall fight alone. Sher'Khan and Herzad can help Serie. I shall either win, or die trying to help Serie." He started to drag Daethe out of the room, as though she were a rag doll.

Serie looked up to see Sourne fighting with Deathin. She watched as Hezard fought with Vash. She stood and stared at Sher Khan who was standing infront of her.

"I . .its not real?" She asked threw sobs. Sher kahn nodded. Series eyes narrowed and a rage filled her eyes as she glared at Vash.

"I hate him!" Serie said angrily. "I HATE YOU!" Serie screamed. The image of Vash shattered. Series eyes seemed to be glowing red as she turned to Deathin.

"YOur gone!" She shouted. "And you can't make me do anything!" As she said this the image of Deathin shattered and the field of dead flowers went from dead to alive.

Serie stood looking down at her feet. Tears flowed down her face as the wold around her once again shifted.

Series eyes snapped open and she sat up quickly and stared up at a large blue dragon. It moved towards her and slowly lowered its head.

*Do you feel well child?"* It asked. Serie nodded as the Dragon picked her up and set her on the shore. Will stepped out of the water.

"Your ok." He said.

Serie burst into noisy tears and hugged will around his waist. She cried until she passed out from exhaustion.

Will picked her up and walked out of the cave. He went into a small room where there were some beds. He laid her on one and then fainted.

"You have served her well." Sorune whispered as he saw William collapse on the bed. "And shall continue to do so." Sorune turned around to face the Old Man.
"I know what you are planning. You of all people should know better." He said.
"It's for the better. She has had nothing but trouble since she met me. it was because of me that Daethe found her." Sorune felt a twinge of guilt at each mention of trouble he caused.
"Yes, but you helped her find her brother. And you got her out of all the trouble you supposedly caused."
"And then got her into more. No, I shall leave her be, and hope for the better." But even as Sorune tried to walk away, Grandpa Moon blocked him. "Let me pass."
"No. You shall wait until she awakens at least, and then you shall give her a proper goodbye if you are to leave her. Now, I have to go to Herzad about some tips on fighting. Hopefully he won't beat an old man *too* badly." He chuckled.
~Serie, I won't let you down.~ Sorune thought glumly. ~But misfortune seems to follow me now. I can't allow you to come to harm, even if I can protect against it, it could still get to you.~ Sorune pulled a chair to in front of the small room, and waited.

A deep roar came from the depths of the underground lake. The dragon stirred, its roar growing louder. Its large tale banged against the wall. Illia backed up slowly as it stared at her.

"What do you want great one?" She asked. The dragon frowned, it had been so long since he had used common speak and it was becoming difficult to find the right word.

"E. ..lf . .. br. . ing." He said. Illia had to think for a moment. She nodded and went to find SOurne.

She found him siting outside of the room where Serie slept.

"You must come with me. Only you." She said. "And you must vow not to tell what you are about to see." She looked past Sourne to Will, who was still asleep. "And if I were you I would be careful. Your traveling with one who is cruel." She turned and walked off.

Herzad, pacing back and forth through the building, muddled over the events of the recent past in his mind as he waited for something to do.

First the wizard, then them four, an' then ah'm chasin' down stuff inside a lass' mind! This is jes gettin' stranger an' stranger...

The clomping of Herzad's boots echoed slightly through the area and he strode back and forth, until he noticed the strange old man with the moon approaching as if to talk with him.

"Yeah? What do ye need?" He asked, stopping to turn and face him.

Loose ends tied.

Postby Dragon Sage007 » Mon Aug 26, 2002 7:17 pm

Sorune followed the preistess down the hall, and stopped when he saw the pool of water. When he reached it, he gasped, for he knew what was down there.
"A dragon? I've only seen one, when I was a small child. Pinnacles of justice." Sorune then remained speechless as the mighty lizard raised itself from the pool. It was several feet larger than Sorune, but that did not take away from it's majesty. It's blue-green scales glistened even in the slight light of the passage. It's eyes burned with a flame more vibrant than life itself, it seemed. And the face of it looked in ever concentration, yet in none at all at the same time.
"What do you wish of me, great dragon?" Sorune asked, amazed.
***
"Herzad, I would like to ask a favor. From what little fighting I've seen you perform in, your technique seems unpolished, but at the same time like you've put great effort into the unpolishedness. Now, I'm a blind old man, but I've certainly seen a fight or two in my old age, and would like to keep in practice. So, if you would behoove me the honor of a practice session? Axe against hammer?" As he said this, he stared right past Herzad at a well-placed Bonsai tree, as though he were talking to it.

At this, Herzad looked a little suprised. "Aye, ah've learned all sorts a' tricks to fightin', an' I can show ye a few o' them." Herzad eyed the old man with uncertainty. "But... er... yer talkin' to a tree. An' I know ye can see, sorta - but yer blind! Ah'm not fer turnin' ye down if ye want to have a bit o' practice, but are ye sure?"

Ah don't wanna smash the poor old human! I hope he knows what he's doin'!

"Don't worry about me lad. Just didn't hear you very clearly. I'm not so brittle as I look, or else I wouldn't even ask. But come. Let's go outside so we don't damage any lovely furnishings, scarce as they are." Grandpa Moon smiled so widely, Herzad was afraid his face would crack. "And I'll make sure to put the protector on the axe. I might slip up, being blind, and accidently tear off your arm." he started fastening a blunt edge on top of the razor sharp one while following Herzad out.

The Dragon lowered his head and stared at Sourne.

*I hope that you are able to understand my words kind traveler from another world* The dragon said slowly. Sourne nodded and the Dragon stepped from the large pool of water and settled himself down. He looked at Illia who stood looking concerned and stern. The dragon nodded to her and she left.

*I have questions.* The dragon said. *But first, dive into the waters. Allow them to restore you, for you are tired, and your power seems to be weaker than when you first arrived."

THe dragon stepped to the side, his long tale moving out of Sourns way. As he steped into the water, it glowed softly.

*Go ahead.* The dragon said. *It holds great healing powers. It is the waters of the gods. The goddess of healing sent it hear for those who are weary from magic to use. I shall wait till you are done to ask you my questions, and to tell you the answers to yours.*

The dragons eyes smiled.

*Yes elf I know your world. For I have seen it in the goddess lake. And there are many things that you must know.* The dragons laid down and smiled. *And I know you wish to leave. I can see it in your heart. And I know you think it for the best. . .* The dragon looked towards the pond. "But we will talk after you are refreshed."

"no, dragon, tell me now while I still have the heart to hear them. What, exactly, do you know of my wish to leave? You think I want to because it's my duty? Because my family is there? Because I want my old strentgh back? No, the answer is...it's home. It's home more than this near desolate piece of rock is, or ever will be. No, I wish for home, but can never find it. But tell me what the answers to my questions are, and hopefully I can answer yours." Sorune stood there, waiting for an answer.

The dragons eyes smiled at Sourne and he lowered his head.

*Tell me elf? Do you think me blind? DO you think that a wise dragon such as myself would be so blind to the heart that beats within your chest? I sense your pain, the desire for your home. THe longing for Y'tuins genteel land.* The dragon said kindly. He moved to the side and smiled.

*Your heart aches for the arms of your true love, and to see the son that you both share.* The dragon smiled. *Do not give up hope elf. For fate and water flow as one. Changing as the day passes into the night. That is what I know of your desire.*

The dragon looked down at Sourne.

*Your world will awaken to you, soon. For I see it in your eyes. Your desire is your way, and for your bravery I was permitted by the goddess of healing to show to you the fate of one your beloved.* The dragon dipped his tale into the water and closed his eyes. *Elf go and look, I shall not see. It is your heart that needs peace. And it is yours alone to see. But know this. The water shows the present, and looking within it
is of your own choice.*

will looked up and smiled as he saw Serie sleeping peacefully. Her hair was wet and clung to her face. He stood up, his head and body aching.

"When are you leaving?" Demanded a soft voice. Will turned to see Illia glaring at him. "And what kind of sick plot do you have for this poor girl?"

Will stared into Illia's eyes.

"I can explain," he said. Illia crossed her arms and looked at Serie.

"So is she your child?"

Will turned red.

"NO!" He shouted. Illia quickly put her hand over his mouth.

"Shut up. You'll wake her!" Illia hissed.

"Seirie is my sister." Will whispered. "Lets go someplace to talk. There is a lot to tell you. And a lot to apologize for."

The two of them left, allowing Serie to sleep peacefully.

"I see my wife...with another man. But he's not a kind person. He...he's hitting her. I see a bit more clearly now. She has several bruises on her cheek, and more on her forehead. My son is trying to comfort her, but all he's doing is making the man angrier. He...he wants my son dead. That will not be his fate if I can help it. Thank you, dragon, for your help. I fear I've been under a bit too much stress lately, and kind of snapped under the pressure." Sorune then allowed the waters to work their magic of healing, letting them fill his every wound, mental and physical, and just calming down.

Illia sighed.
"Yes, he did." Illia said looking concerned. "Your sister. ."

"Serie . ." Will said interrupting her.

"Serie, she fought the cruse as if she. . .as if she were a mage. But that can't be true. She is far to young, it takes years and years of learning to be abel to fight such a curse."

"Why do you always ask questions that take so much time to answer."

Illa glared at him.

"Shut up and tell me!"

"Serie is not a mage, she is," will said slowly, not sure if he wanted to tell her. "She is a Sorcerous."

Illia shook her head in disbelief.
