The Incomplete Hunter (Ash's third stab at Gaeran fics)

Unread postby Ash Fanrico » Mon Oct 06, 2003 10:06 pm

(This is obviously meant to provide some background information for my "Dark Stranger" character, give some hints to who he really is, and stuff. This is right after his brief appearance in the aftermath of the war at Hyral Castle)

Leaving the now bloodied fields where an almost epic battle had taken place, there walked the Dark Stranger. He cared not for the petty concerns of a few rebel factions, and those they fight against.

This conflict did not concern him, so he had taken no part in it. He cared not for the humans, trolls, dwarves, and other such persons who were fighting to reclaim their home. He equally cared not for the demons they fought as well, they were fools in his eyes.

No, what concerned him the most, was the chance to be whole again. That thought was number one in his mind, as he exited the area surrounding Hyral Castle. The blades of grassing folding over, and darkening around his feet, as if on fire. Yes, it would seem, his rampant, uncontrollable energies were becoming less and less difficult to maintain.

But this being wouldn't even play with the notion that he would soon possess enough will, or control, over his energies, until he was fully complete. His rogue piece must be found, for him to be at full power.

Thoughts surged through his mind as he remembered that moment in his life, where he first tasted true defeat. It was at the hands of a motley group of warriors, wizards, and other such "heroic" types. A group that seemed so mismatched, it was of great surprise that they didn't fail in the end. His eyes narrowed, as he remembered their faces. Some were more dominant in his mind than others. Mainly those he had the most combat with.

But what this stalking creature remembered the most about, was the hellfires engulfing him at the conclusion of it all. He remembered the pain, indescribeable in it's magnitude, as the unfortunate loser remembered seeing entire pieces of flesh seered off his body. Yes, he was still alive throughout most of his painful demise. Still alive to see skin and tissue almost disappear right before his eyes. Still alive to feel the bitter end of his endeavors. Until he mercifully went into the darkness.

All that this creature remembers next was clawing his way out of the extinguished pit opening, that many people now recognize as the "Hellmouth". Then the pain came back, not the pain that was previously felt during his descent back into the fires of Hell, but the pain of uncontrollable energies, like a burning fire within himself. Like all your insides were being cooked in an oven pot. Thankfully, to him, the pain momentarily subsided, and he was allowed to evaluate his situation.

Which has led him to this point. He now wanders through this changed world that he once exsisted in. A world he at one point wanted to conquer himself. Course, as if the threads of time and fate were taunting him, was the obvious goal of a new would-be conqueror.

By now, the Stranger was well within the boundaries of Doma Castle. He could sense his rogue part's presence in that general direction. A pondering thought as to why his "vessel" would be there, confused him. But it mattered not, as he continued on his journey, his hunt.

He would find the one that was given his name, and his legacy. His lost piece cannot hide forever, and soon, he will find him...

The one called Rico.

It shall be noted that whomever Rated this clearly didn't read it at all.

The quality of writing is rather good, I think. A nice narrative. I'd like to get a bit more into the hunter's thoughts on his own situation, myself. <p>------------------
Greetings, large black person. Let us not forget to form a team up together and go into the country to inflict the pain of our karate feets on some ass of the giant lizard person.
