Monsters, manimals and not nice guys

Alright, here we go, again.

No, I'm not back on the net yet and it seems like it may take even longer, like, February, due to my area in Liverpool doesn't seem to be able to have it yet. Sigh. For those who had suddenly wanted to see some art by me or had thought there was some here, sorry, a no go. I might be able to get some dial up action at some point though. However that isn't what this is about.

I want you! Yes You! To do something for me!

I am currently making, in my spare time, an RPG in RPG Maker XP. It is based loosely on the peeps here, at RPGWorldWorld. Anyone who actually reads that thing called my LiveJournal may know what kinda plot to expect. Its based in the Here and Now. A none ancient evil has suddenly arisen (so its a new evil, meaning its trying extra hard to be grim and nasty) and objects, people and animals are turning evil. Due to a sudden jolt of 'power' through the internet, RPGWWers are zapped while on the PC and given Special Powers. From here the plot line doesn't get any better.

So what I want you guys to do is simple. Design a monster. Any monster you like, the sillier or bizarre the better. And doesn't have to be classic fantasy or Sci-Fi, so it could be a Monster Toaster, because, as I said, its based on Earth, here and now. You don't have to draw, as I know not everyone's blessed with killer art skills, so a description is cool.

I can check this every weekday so I'll constantly be looking. You can enter as many times as you like. Winning basically means the monster appears in the game. Simple prize for a simple challenge.

For extra help I'll give you the status effects I'm putting in the game incase it gives you any idea's.

Status effects!

Drunk: Character randomly attack a random person in the battle and are more likely to miss. (like confused)

Hungover: Character attack power is weakened and character may be sick instead of attacking. (like eh... weaken?)

ROTFL: Character is rolling on the floor laughing and can not attack. (Like Knockback)

Headache: Character is unable to use special powers. (like silence)

Killer Flu: Character loses HP each turn (like poison!)

Traumatised: Character is in a bad mental state and does not move or attack. (like Paralysed) An example battle of this is:

Omar thinks Scott's mouth looks pretty.
Omar uses ~$£@$ attack on Scott's mouth.
Scott is Traumatised by this experience.
Or
Omar drops soap.
Dave picks up the soup before thinking.
Omar attacks Dave's rear end.
Dave is Traumatised by this experience.
Or
Omar drops his towel.
Scott is Traumatised by this experience.
Dave is Traumatised by this experience.
Lex is Traumatised by this experience.
BW is too manly to be Traumatised by this experience.

Oh yeah, I'd like Omar to be in this =D so as an extra competition Draw Omar!

Oh! And the game is going to look tacky. Really tacky. I'm kinda aiming for that kinda vibe, so don't pull something trying to do the Best Thing Ever. If you do make the Best Thing Ever I will use it though. Oh yes, entering this competition means you don't actually mind me using ya monster design in my game, so eh, yeah, had to say that. *nods*

Duct snake
This snake is 2 inches thick, but 30 feet long. Don't ask how it keeps from snapping in half, it's magic. It crawls through small spaces (such as pipes) to attack, and in battle, wraps around the nearest foe. This makes attacking problematic, as it is difficult to attack without hurting the character it's wrapped around. <p>-----
Do not taunt Happy Fun Zemyla.

Dammit, Dan, I'm not dating a damn NPC! - OOC Will (Will Baseton)
Of course! Anything worth doing is worth doing completely wrong! - Travis English
Ultimately, wizards and clerics don't say, "Gee, I want to become a lich because weapons hurt less and I don't have to worry about being backstabbed; that whole 'eternal life' thing is just a fringe benefit."-Darklion
But this one time I killed a walrus with my bare hands, and I suddenly understood spherical coordinates. - KnightsofSquare
Also, when you've worked a 36-hour shift as an intern you too just might pour yourself a catful of coffee and sit down to cuddle with your travel mug. -eirehound

Inane Reference:

There are actually numerous inane references. 4Chan's Super Waha girl, No u, Penix, Pantsless and free, FNWC, Huggle the Ooze, Sexy Tuberculosis, and so on. Their sizes and shapes vary, but they fairly universally tend to cause the status effects "Traumatised", "Headache", "ROTFL", and occasionally "Drunk".
Inane References have relatively low HP and MP, but like to band together in large groups, making them a dangerous foe.

The Fourth Wall:

The Fourth Wall is not there. But it is! The characters and players cannot see it, but it prevents them from interacting with anything behind it. The Fourth Wall cannot attack, but has a substantial amount of HP and tends to cause condition "Headache" to all around it when it is attacked.

That's all I got for now. More later maybe. :o <p>

>=D
To be evil and to make my job eaiser if ya want to enter this, which is a pretty good idea *nod nod* you should describe each Inane Reference monster and what each one does.

>_> May I request the position of 'wandering merchant/escape artist?'

(i.e. Appears in weird places in the middle of dungeons selling Yalogank-ripped weird items and offering to warp the party back to the beginning of said dungeon)

Also, I reccomend a miniboss based on sw33tgurl!

I leave it up to you to get her input on how to go about it though :{

However due to being in a funk and too afraid to share anything I have no immediate suggestions. <p>

Magitoaster.
A perfectly ordinary-looking toaster...except that it's floating in mid-air. And it's completely disconnected from any sort of electrical power. It's attacks include electrical shocks, techno-magic abilities, and causing the Toast status effect. This status effect reduces a person into a piece of toast, completely unable to move or defend theirselves. Fortunately, if they are eaten, they will cause the Thirsty status effect on the eater. This will reduce their HP until someone gives them water, or casts water on that person. As an additional effect, if revived after being eaten, they will revert to full human form afterwards and burst out of the chest of the victim, if victim is small enough.

...Yeah, I have way too much time on my hands for a random ADV! joke. <p>

Angsty Emo Kid: An scrawny, pale kid wearing all black and with a petulant expression. Its attacks consist of Immense Whine, Wangst up the Wazoo, and Bad Poetry.

It causes the status effect Headache, ROTFL (for crueller characters who are amused), or Drunk (for those who feel motivated to drink at this sight).

Frat zombie:

The animated corpses of fraternity members that perished while doing incredibly stupid things while drunk, these monsters can be found patrolling college campuses. They are a symbol of the death of college social life, their monsterous forms spurring college administrators to remember what extremely drunk guys in large groups are capable of, resulting in additional policies that force parties and fraternities further away from college campuses to drive off the creatures (and avoid getting associated with them). The main attacks of the frat zombie include projectile vomit, which is capable of inducing the "drunk" status effect, and shoving people out of windows.

When combined with an overstuffed, pimped-out car, the frat zombie becomes an unstoppable force capable of immense destruction and stupidity. <p>--------------------

ZUBAAAAN!:

Originally, this was not a physical entity at all- it was a Japanese onomatopoeia. However, with enough abuse, it became a wreched being that insists on punching, kicking, smacking, thwhacking, and combo-thwacking you in addition to repeatedly trying to run you over with a bicycle.

Forum Troll:

This troll browses and makes "witty" comments at anyone who passes by. Beware! Their flaming attacks can be quite vicious, though Forum Trolls are frequently plagued by laziness and faulty logic. Usually travel in extremely disgruntled packs that enjoy arguing.

"The Great" (?) Nevareh

Periodically mistaken for either a Forum Troll or a girl, this creature exists in an altered version of space/time that crosses over into this dimension by way of some kind of really wierd explanation that no one can follow. Combining several of the more reprehensible traits that can be found in a monster, this creature has a high defense that is very hard to puncture due to general stubborness, loves to throw around status ailments (once again not really making much sense when doing so. How does an ice spell make you drunk?), is hard to get away from, has a ton of hit points, and almost always runs away once it's weak enough. It features some staple boss attacks such as "Typing Critique" as well as some unique abilities such as "Ceaseless and Pointless Argument," which can cause any number of status ailments to a single party member(all at once- think the Malboro's "Bad Breath" attack from FFIV), and "Logical Disjunction," which does good damage to the whole party and randomly causes status ailments. Another painful ability of "The Great"(?) Nevareh is the "Talk About Gay Sex" attack, which will traumatise any male character who is the target; even the gay ones, for "The Great"(?) Nevareh is pretty graphic. Female characters might be healed or unaffected by "Talk About Gay Sex."

"The Great"(?) Nevareh is immune to Logic-elemental and Anime-elemental attacks but is weak to Angst and Doug Winger.

Status Ailment: Confuzzled
Character refuses to follow orders, completely drawn in or fascinated by something that really doesn't make any sense. A Confuzzled character will not act until something happens to snap them out of their reverie, usually in the form of a good smack on the head.

Status Ailment: Flamed!
Character refuses to follow orders and rather does nothing but attack for higher damage than normal. <p>[---------------------------]

The Slurpee Manticore.

This creature is like most other manticores, except it has the head of a polar bear, and a purple/blue/raspberry-red body. All attacks from this creature deal Ice-element damage and cause "Headache" status. (See also: BRAIN FREEZE.) If Xaq is attacked by this creature, it instantly kills him for no explicable reasAAAAAAAAAUGH!!! *GAME OVER Play again?* <p>--

Evil Glass

This is a glass. A drinking glass. And it's got eyes. Evil eyes. ... glass eyes, I guess. It wants to drink you into oblivious oblivion. So you don't KNOW you're destroyed. Fills itself with Captain Crunchie's Children's Rum to make you drunk, then hungover. Fills itself with hot water to hurt you. Fills itself with Frozen Hell Extra Cold Fruit Smoothie to give you an ice cream headache.

Or something, I dunno... <p>

Yay!!

I'm loving quite a few of these suggestions. As a note my mate Carl gave a suggestion of a monster curb that trips up the part as an attack. (Believe me this happens an awful lot, espically in Liverpool with there damn poor path quality!) So thats in!

Keep up the awsome awsomeness!

Awesome Awesomeness

An incarnation of redundancy and totally fucking spiffy stuff, Awesome Awesomeness is a force to be reckoned with. Easily amused opponents may find themselves helplessly ROTFL at its simple humor, and even the more patient of challengers may have difficulty after getting a headache from the sheer repetativeness. However, even the most awesome has its weakness: Do something totally radically awesome and it can be more easily subdued, seeing that it's no longer really the most awesome of awesomeness.

TO THE AWESOME!!! <p>

Shadow Council: This is, as you could imagine, a very shadowy council. In fact, so shadowy, you can only make out the image of only one of the members of the council--the others are far too wrapped in shadow to be able to be seen. Nonetheless, they are a formidable enemy with their mysterious control over reality, and have abilities such as:

"DOES NOT EXIST": Self-affecting spell. Makes the user immune to everything for the round, by "acknowledging" that the incoming attacks do not exist.

"MANY PEOPLE": the Shadow Council likes to use "MANY PEOPLE" as a bluff. A rather annoying one. So annoying that it can cause the Headache status, in addition to damage, to the party.

and

"Self-Justification": an attack that comes in two forms--multitarget damage, and single-target instant KO. They use themselves to justify their inexplicable power.

The Shadow Council, despite powerful abilities, are rather weak offensively. However, they have high defense, HP, and dodge rate, being overall shady and otherwise very hard to get rid of in the long run. <p>"DO YOU THINK YOU CAN DEFEAT US? OUR TREASURE MAY BE HEAVY, BUT WE ARE LIGHT AS WIND. ONLY MAGICS MAY HURT US, BUT ONLY WE KNOW WHICH ONES." --Omoikane, Digital Devil Saga 2</p>
