Comic/Art Jam?

PostPosted: Wed May 12, 2004 10:08 am

Cho and myself have been knocking the idea around about this a little bit earlier.

Who would be interested in a comic/art jam?

Comic jam:
Course some of you know about this. One person makes a comic, and someone after it adds to the story. Completely on the fly so there is no thinking about what happens ahead of time. What happens, happens.

Art Jam:
One large artistic collage.
Someone draws a picture then you pass it off to another person which in turn draws something on it and passes it on to someone else.
If this one were to happen it would be on Oekaki. But I'm a little iffy on that one since re-touch tends to bork people over.

Anywho, who's willing to give one of these a go?
All I ask for is it to be DRAWN. No sprites at all.
Art quality doesn't matter as long as you have fun doing it.

I'll start off either Jam if you're wondering.

Edit:
If/when this thing starts. What should the theme be?

Scott will once he has finished his work and/or lost the desire to feed my entrails to a swamp of hungry croc's cause the work is driving him insane with unable-to-do'ness. BLAH.

But!

Awsome idea! Again! The person who thought up this idea for a jam should be given lots of money and all the hot chicks!

Image

Well for the art Jam each big block (as in each canvis used) should have its own theme. Now I suppose we could say this before hand or let the person who starts off the art Jam decide.

So, for instance:

Art jam could be:

Bad ass guys.
RPGWW peeps.
Favorite Game characters.
Zelda badguys.

And so on. For the first one we do? To get started a nice easy Chibi Advantar saying hello might be cool to open up with from all the artists involved.

For the comic jam?

Well I had that idea of a Zelda/Adventures of Link one earlier *shrugs* Or it could just be as east to say RPGWW. Good thing about anything none RPGWW is the desire to throw in 50 characters all at once - plus no one will have to feel let out, or that other people are getting all the glory.

Other surgestions welcome!

Image

I mentioned this to you earlier. I agree for going to a non-RPGWW Comic jam.
Seeing as whoever does it tends to shove a character of thiers into it one way or another. (think back to the sprite comic jam you had going a while back)
I'm All up for the Zelda one, yo. :O

Art Jam:
Yeah, Mention of the theme beforehand would be a must.

All in all this'll be a great thing for the RPGWW community to do.

Damn... Can any one read what I'm saying? I used to get a few grammer mistakes but.. aye aye aye.

Even though it might be obvious I'll try to say that sentance again, though DM got the gist of it anyway, I want to proove to myself I can still type.

Well I had that idea of a Zelda/Adventures of Link one earlier *shrugs* Or it could just be as easy to do an RPGWW one however the good thing about not doing an RPGWW jam is there would be no desire to throw in 50 characters all at once. Plus no one will have to feel let out, or that other people are getting all the glory.

Damn I hope I haven't been writing that bad in my reports as well. Best check them over again O_@;;

Image

I'd be quite interested, though for art jam, I'm surprised that neither catgirls nor the Wild West have come up as themes. XP

You confuse Cho with Brainwalker and or Glu_Glu. Xp
Catgirls anyway.

More then likely the art jam theme will be of an Anime or a Game since the majority of the members here are mostly into the two.

Both sound quite nifty, although since my access to scanners will be going away for quite some time starting next week, I doubt I could participate in a Comic Jam. Oekaki Art Jam I could do.

You could draw on MSpaint/Phototshop/oekaki for a Comic Jam submssion.
No one said it had to be scanned.
I just don't want sprites used is all.

So far it's:
Lex
Dia
FD
Lys
Cho
Lorr
And ofcourse myself that have expressed interest in this idea. Think we're going to need more. But with this many we can atleast do an Art Jam.

MEdium of prefrence?
Draw, Photoshop, or Oekaki?
Again, I warn that retouch doesn't always work well.

Themes?
Eh..
My suggestions: Badguys, Final Fantasy 4, or Fantasy creatures.

If we can smack up a theme by Sunday, I can maybe draw something by Tuesday, scan it, and get it here. If not, I can do either Paint or Oekaki (I knew there was a reason I signed up for that...)

Either way, I like the Theme of Bad Guys (presumable from well known RPGs?) I'm not too good at fantasy creatures, nor am I terribly familiar with FF4, although I can mess with the franchise in general pretty well. Maybe just FF themed drawings? Finally, I would also like to propose the theme of Chibi Rock Star Avatars. Because I feel like suggesting something rediculous.

I could probably do some, but don't count on anything actually being posted. My perfectionism holds me back.

Bad guy theme sounds good, but I'll try to adapt to whatever is chosen.

I'm all up for Fantasy creatures as a theme, or something involving chibi avatars. As for the medium, anything works, really, for me.

I'll likely assign turns for each person to get their respective parts done. When the time comes i'll make a list of who gets to go first and assign a time limit for this stuff.

As for the Themes. Well, we COULD do Final Fantasy in a whole, but I like the idea of keeping it to each respective series. I.E: FF4: Rydia, Cecil, Edge, and ect. FF7: Cloud, Tifa, Aeris, and ect.
Or keep it to a specific class/theme. Like I suggested before. Bad guys, Black mages, or whatever.

Since we had more suggestions, I'm all up for fantasy creatures, chibi avatars, or bad guys. :P

Choose a perfered theme, people.
We can't start one of these unless we can narrow what we want down.

so far its down to Chibis, Fantasy creatures, and some Final Fantasy game.

I'm looking into it but there seems to be something called a "whiteBoard" which is like an Okeaki board except it allows multiply users at any one time, and for them to chat as well as draw. Might be the kind of thing we're looking for.

Image

If i recall its sort of like an alternative telling of it. >_>

Also, Cho: Edit: Whiteboards? I think you're talking about paintchat. I don't think people would want to sit and watch me draw for 3+ hours on one drawing nor to mention many fuckups. >_>;;

I'd suggest against it, really... PaintChat's, while more stable than for example OekakiBBS, are capable of doing baaad, baaad things to your pictures. Layers can disappear if there's a fuck-up, etc...

Ok, it's kind of hard to know what you mean..
Paintchat doesn't give you layers.
Oekaki BBS, yes, does tend to fuxxor and lose your layers. But it's the only options we have right now. Most of us don't have scanners, paintshop pro or even photoshop to work on this. :P
MS paint would just be horrble >_>;

I'll most likely be Oekaki.
Oekaki BBS since some people can't use Paint BBS. :D;;

I'll use both, I can do it. It all sounds fine.

Also, it doesn't have to be FF7. It could be a mix of every FF game ever, or we could make our own FF13!!
