Wahoo! :{ I've really gotten into doing FFT sprites n_n

Tell me what you think of this latest one :D

It's really nice! ^_^ Though I can't do FFT sprites very well so I couldn't give yea a proper critique.

It's pretty rad, though the outlining of the top of the ear could be a little less dark, I think...the contrast is pretty stark. <p>

Eh, i can't really critque much since the sprite looks badly pixelated when you enlarged it. :/

But, yeah. the outlining of the ear stands out too much, try toning down the color as dia suggested. <p><div style="text-align:center">

Just stand really far away from your screen and they don't look so pixelated :D

Also the white of the eye is in proportion to the pupil, but seems freakishly large compared to the rest of the body. I know this is part of the sprite but it just seems a little too big to me.

The ear angle is slightly wonky: Understandable, given the perspective.

Your shading is okay, but it's a bit too stark in some places, and you need more highlights, especially in the hair.

Change the dark shade on the red coat: It looks like it turns green where the light doesn't hit.


Other than that it's good ^_^

Though I've edited that sprite according to suggestions, I'm too lazy to upload it, so I have a new one to put up instead ^^

You know, when they're all small like that, those are pretty darn good. It'd be fun to see them animated but thats a lot of hard work and stuff. Are they edits or did ya do it all by the dreaded hand?

I'm not sure it'll help any but I heard of a techique to do outlines so they look more natural. Apprently if you draw the outline, like say, that elf dudes ear, instead of just doing the line on colour, choose the darkest shade of skin and the darkest shade of your hair (unless they're the same then choose the next lightest colour). The make the outline go from on to the other...


What I mean is something like this...



So the outline of the ear doesn't standout quite as much



Admittidly this really doesn't change much here, but .. eheh, and I used this excuse last time I provided help... I ain't much of a spriter.

This place here provides some cool help an is a lot better then me. They don't really go through FFT type sprites but you can still use the techiques used.

Anwho after all that, I like it. A lot better then anything I can do at the moment to be sure and nicely done as well. Look forward to see what ya do next =D *ruffles hair* <p><div style="text-align:center"> </div>

Well glad that helped. I'm now going to try something else but I'm not sure how this will turn out. I love the Shan sprite, really well done, its just a shame the outline is so profound on that spear head is all.

So here's what I learned from somewhere I can't remember.

The outline can also follow the light source the sprite is under as well, that is, if the area is lighter then the rest, then the outline can be lighter then the outline in the darker section...

So .. like this... I think:



To help you how I thought of it I split it into sections (sorry its so big by the way but I wanted to make sure yo could see it)



Really simple of course but as you can see, it goes from lighter to darker as it moves from the left point of the spear to the end point.

So in the end it looks like this....

Of course if you prefure the outlined look then no problem though it sort of clashed with the rest of the sprite. Anywho, again its only for consideration...

(and before anyone asks I'm not going to make a habit out of this, I'm just in a doing mood is all)

Its been so long since Deeum had a sprite made :,(. As i told you in chat that the only things i see wrong with her is her chest jewl is supposed to be purple. and now that i can get a better look, her shoes are also black :O

I figured out what was wrong with the eyes on these sprites......the program is making them the next nearest color so they aren't transparent :P

Most of them are hand done, but various parts are from other FFT sprites.

For example, Aya's hero hair is.....>_> <_< *feels kinda silly saying this*

Well...Lets just say I got lazy and recolored a chocobo tail, flipped it upside-down, resized it a bit and tah dah, instant hair-do ^.^; <p><div style="text-align:center">

Description: Fair-skinned woman with long black hair, tied back in a long braid. She has green eyes, or may be wearing shades. Usually wears a large black trenchcoat and black pants, with a blue shirt underneath. She's human too, so no elfy ears. =D
