Now while I know that half of this is a shameless plug for your comic (XP), the other issue is you're a damn good artist, the Aerith picture is my favorite. o_o <p>

Kate is correct. And I have trouble getting aggitated at a shameless plug that's this frikkin' good... <p>

Things you learn from working at Burger King-

- "Bum Rush" refers to when the bar next door closes.
- A raw egg will explode if microwaved.
- The local Police Department considers 'Dire need of a Chocolate Shake' an emergency situation.
- Yes, the grease in the frier is hot.
- Always believe a manager when they tell you the grease is hot.
- Do not use your hand to see if the grease in the frier is hot.
- Do not curse in front of customers.</p>

The difference between me and the others is that they are ignoring the shameless plug part. I will not.

I like shameless plugs!

And I like good artwork! Horray!

This is quite possibly the coolest shameless plug ever. But it's still a shameless plug. The badassness of the artwork aside, there is still the matter of our no advertising policy. You know, the one in big red letters in the rules section that nobody that isn't already aware of it ever pays attention to.

Or does that not apply in reguards to something that the communnity is actually interested in, like badass manga-style artwork, and manga-style comicry?

Did I mention that the artwork was badass? I did? Okay, good. 'Cause it is. Badass, I mean. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image</div></p>Edited by: [url=http://pub30.ezboard.com/brpgww60462.showUserPublicProfile?gid=brainwalker>BrainWalker</A]&nbsp; Image at: 1/7/04 5:00 pm

This person is not trying to get us to join anything, give anything other than criticsim.

Thus it's not really a plug. Just a free showcase.

I thoroughly accept that interpretation. Gasp, posted twice?! Please, stick around, and post stuff in this Fanart section. Because your stuff is neat, and we could use some advice and critiques from folks as skilled as you seem to be. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. Thank you guys for once again proving that the advertising rule should be changed.

"Please, if you're not an established member of RPGWW, don't post here."

>.> Honestly, we don't need to harp on everybody who dares post in a forum that isn't the new posters forum as their first post. Christ. And that's -me- saying this, folks. We can honestly stop flaming the newbies off the board for not following an obscure unwritten set of protocol we've developed over the last year. Because I happen to remember when I came here, we didn't even have newbies. We were actually against the usage of the word 'newbie' at all.

How, pray tell, does a forum which started as just a subset of a bigger forum get that cocky and elitist anyway?

So, whenever you guys get a grip on reality, do tell. Do tell.

... this is a nice time to point out that you're complaining about things that NO ONE HAS SAID IN THIS THREAD. Perhaps you'd like to say something useful, now?

Dunno. Pure skill? Natural talent, maybe? >:P

In any case, do us all a favor and read the posts in the thread in which you reply. The main problem is that this person has come here with a rather blatant set of advertising for their site. The art is nice, though... and since s/he isn't selling anything (Or trying to build his OUTWARRIORS FROM SPACE army), I don't think anyone's really found a problem with this. >.> Except you.

Now, are there any OTHER things you want to say that WON'T make you look stupid? I'm waiting to hear them. <p>

How about some things that will make Shaun look stupid? Jooie was sarcastically suggesting that the rule be changed TO "If you're not an established member of RPGWW, don't post here," in light of recent behaviors.

I wasn't really intending to put anyone off either, I was just trying to gauge the opinion of the communnity. Whatever you have to say about this, you can't deny that it's sole (or at least, largest) intent was to get more traffic for his site. The only real differences between this topic and the sorts of topics that led to the creation of the big red rule are that 1) The stuff being "advertised" is fairly awesome and 2) The person doing the advertising doesn't seem to be a retarded monkey. Well, that and it's not in either the spam or the seroius forum.

I think we can all agree that a best-case scenario would be for keyeske to stick around, learn grammer, and feel the love.

Or something like that. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image</div></p>

It's worth noting that this thread's tone is far more positive towards this person than negative, among other things. It'd be nice to know how I missed a point that couldn't be made in the current context. >.> <p>

Drive-by ads that are annoying in content and nature are uncool.

But who's going to complain about drive-by art?

And if the artist sticks around, all the better. o_o <p>

Because I just may. Don't tempt me.

P.S. The missed point was that "you cannot post here unless you are an established member" was meant as a change to "you cannot advertise here unless you are an established member". Hence, Banjooie knew about the original policy, and was joking that it needed to be stricter.

As far as the advertising thing goes, who cares? Is the ten seconds it takes to realise that there's no content to a particular post really so important that you have to type up an angry reply? I'm not talking about this thread, mind, but others.

Anyway. The art itself is quite good. Very detailed, clearly k-whatever has some skill at drawing. I'm not an artist or a critic, so I'm not going to go into stuff like perspective, and proportions, and anatomy and stuff. Suffice it to say that it looks pretty, and that's probably the intent.

But...

This is typical, run of the mill, anime style. Triangular chins, big eyes, tiny-assed nose, it's all there. That or concept art from Generic Squaresoft RPG #X (where X is an unknown, and not the number 10). And the faces, aside from some minor details, all look pretty much identical. It's been done a million times before, and will be done a million times again.

As for the comic....ugh. The <s>dialogue</s> monologue is horribly scripted, and the guy seems to have the intellectual capability of wet pasta. I mean come on. Freak electrical storm in his computer monitor, gets sucked into some wierd world that he has no prior knowledge of, and his first thoughts are "Hey, that thing's cute. I should make it my pet." Also, it's Go-fucking-Gaia. Did any of you actually click on his links, and look at what was going on? Go-Gaia, the RP board with such great ideas as "spam as much as you possibly can to get money."

Yes, I did click on a few of those comic page links, and yes, the plot does suck and the dialogue is uninspired, but at least the art is cool.

I'm going through the gallery on his webpage, currently. Good stuff, that.

I think the high quality art more than makes up for the lack of plot.

But only for a while. You'll note that the most popular web comics aren't the best drawn ones, but those with good drawings and either a strong plotline or good jokes.

I look at that comic and all I really see is art. It's not really a comic so much as 16 pages of connected drawings.

And EKD? That was possibly the most twisting anyone has ever done to something I have said. There is no direct comparison. You're suggesting that the plot is all the content of a comic? No comic can survive without good artwork. I'd say artwork is about 2/3rds of the reason I buy comics.

I've come to the conclusion that nobody here has any conception of exaggeration.

Also, many comics survive without decent art, or plots that run beyond a handful of strips. Calvin and Hobbes, the Far Side, and Dilbert, to name a few. Being interesting and funny is like 90% of making a good comic.
