What fills YOUR sketchbook?

Unread postby SALSAlys » Mon Dec 15, 2003 9:23 pm

Somewhat a random question, I guess, but:

What fills YOUR sketchbook? =D

As in, I flip through the sketchbooks of some of my friends, and I see various things! One of my friends specializes in Pokemon who run around and beat the BLEEP out of eachother. All while looking cute and adorable. Who said Pokemon can't be interesting?

Another of my friends always draws pictures of his D&D characters, or illustrates events from campaigns.

One of the boys I know draws many sketchies of furries. (WAI!)

And another person I know tends to draw monsters, with all sorts of weird crazy fangs and shizzle going on.

And finally, another girl I know tends to draw many different outfits on figures, leaving the face and hairstyle pretty simple, even if she gets elaborate on the costuming.

Myself? It goes in phases, and my current phase is doing a lot of poses using stick figures and cylinders.

Thus, I ask...

What fills YOUR sketchbook? =D

Figure drawings from art class, because I haven't yet replaced it with a new sketchbook. Dragons. Whatever I feel like drawing at the moment. More dragons.

Well, to be very honest....

Half-done drawings of characters. Character drawings that I'd stopped with because I thought they looked horrid.

Either that or concepts for symbols, RPing world maps, and the like.

......if you want me to show some of those sketches, just give me the signal. The scanner awaits right next to me. Though the sketchbook is kinda sparse right now due to my lack of drawing recently..... which I need to remedy soon.

People, mainly. Characters I RP, random characters, the occasional sketch of a real person...

I try to draw my characters in different poses, too. Attack stances, dozing off while sitting under a tree, relaxed, beating the crap out of one another...

And, of course, the almost required pages of half done comic strips and potential ideas that are never carried out. o_o

The sky opens to us
They fly to the ray"

Ahh, the sketchbook, untouched in so long.

As soon as I open it, there's a nearly finished SSj Future Trunks, colored and all. After that is Perfect Cell, partially colored, not fully drawn, with a monkey tail (part of 'Dragon Ball W').

Next, several pages of crappy sketches, meandering texts, and StH fanboyism dating pre-1997.

A bad sketch of Yuji (FD) is in there.

Followed by a bad sketch of Rube teh pie thief.

Then a really bad Vegita head.

Then a few outlinings of 'Dragon Ball W'. Drawings I'm proudest of? Piccolo's head and Yamcha looking mad. Yeah.

Blank space.

SSj Gohan, young. Looking freaked. Actually scanned.

Vegita, with Majin Vegita and Saiya-jin saga Vegita next to him. Not finished.

A crappy Janemba sketch.

A few attempts at an Argovian Dragon. Keep trying..

Piccolo. Not done, but looks okay so far.

Yamcha. Scanned. With desert bandit hair. I like this one.

Son Goku sketch. He's sweating.

Then, Kylitos. With cocoa and rapier drawn. Sketched.

An outlining of Tenshinhan.

An early Astrynax sketch.

An early End sketch.

Mecha Sonic sketch.

Vegita being shot through the chest and dying, well, horribly. Not done.

An 'RPGWW Z' Cast shot, Creature era. Really really not done.

A fluffy dragon sketch.

A Glu sketch..

Another Argovian Dragon sketch. Looks a little better.

A shot of Vegita staring at Choark's hammer. Sketch.

I don't know what's on the next page.

A Freeza sketch on the next page. Not bad.

A near-done Astrynax.

Blank.

Piccolo with pie.

Rube in a pie. Not bad, but unfinished.

Yuji doing something with his fingers. Sketchy.

An apple.

A tree.

Sonic. I like this.

Something about 'Jeffco Brands' on the last page, along with an equation of some kind.

... crap, I need to start drawing again. >_>;

Wait, what is Yuji doing with his fingers?

It best not be dirty, young man. :(

ALSO:

My sketchbooks have a whole lot of stuff, and things. Mostly stuff that has nothing to do with RPGWW in any way.

Image

I don't know what the hell this thing is, but the chicks dig it.

- sketches for future video game ideas
- Characters, some just outta nowhere, others for specific ideas
- Various monsters, cause I like to draw them
- Various RPGWW handrawn comics that have been cast into the void of "Lazy-Ass Ash" realm
**Welcome to my NIGHTMARE**

random things...i just draw whatever the voices tell me to.
like original looking characters who wont go beyond that page, random creatures(monsters), a furry here and there, videogame characters(mostly luigi and mr. game & watch), fan characters for various games(especially Advance wars), more random unimportant characters and, if i feel inspired, some of my characters(the important ones, most of them not known by anybody).

LAMBO SWIMS LIKE A BRICK!!!

Well, lessee... Mostly human pictures (mainly female ones of those), a few Freestyle character sheets with doodle backstories, my characters, some assorted fanart that I never scan in, catgirls (Well, mainly my MAC charries, which happen to be a revamp of The Space Cats), assorted legs and arms...
Needless to say, don't be surprised to open a page of my sketchbook/notebook and find a couple hands, some disembodied legs, or maybe a foot or two. And don't let me get started on the doodles...

Oh yes, and I forgot to mention. I don't draw in a *sketchbook*. No, notebooks are more of my style. I think I'm up to 32 full ones of them now...

Mostly a bunch of blank pieces of paper, but there's also a few unfinished character sketches (unfinished 'cause I can't draw people for anything), and a bunch of random cartoony crap that either has nothing to do with anything, or has something to do with whatever video game I'm currently playing. Or Mario Brothers. Or Lemmings.

Image

I have'nt bought a notebook in years, however, in every 3-ring binder that I had, I would reserve the back of it for stuff that had nothing to do with school.

In these places, either notebooks or back sections of binders, that I would do whatever:

I have pages upon pages filled with passwords for old NES games.

Sometimes I even would draw some very bad stuff...

Mainly however, I would write. Poetry, sometimes following some loose rhyming scheme, sometimes stream of consciousness wierdness. Probably crappy as well but at least better than the drawings. I would use words to draw my images.

I should post more...
Kyle: *sips Cocoa*

Somehow, my sketchbooks are shrinking , as in page size. My first "sketchbook" was a jotter book, which i used for 6 years until my friend showed me what a sketchbook really was. Um ok. I got the a5 one for convinience. Then it shrunk to A6 this year... It's full of colored stuff(tore out the parts i didn't like when i felt like crap) like weird abstract tree-things, critters, talking fish...
During the jotterbook time, i started off with My little Pony, then anime-styled animals on two legs when cable TV came into my life, and waalah! The cat people evolved into "humans". But i seldom use my sketchbook for doodles, i use the cheapest 2 packs of 500-sheet copy paper within a year.
Have some crappy watery tea, eat mould cake and please exit at the right...off the cliff.
