Pyrrha request

Unread postby WhiteWerefox » Mon Mar 15, 2004 4:22 pm

Something I drew as a result of a posted request. Voila!

personal.nbnet.nb.ca/dunc.../pyrra.jpg

The shading came out quite nicely, but the inking is a little rough. This is compounded by the JPEG compression, but that's life. Before I knew what color the hair was, I made it red and put some textural shading on it that looked really awesome. But with the black hair it doesn't show up too well, and again I am screwed over by JPEG compression.Still, I'm glad I finally found a way to illustrate hair nicely and will probably be doing it more in future graphics.

I like how the expression and pose came out, like she's just comitted herself to doing some dammage. My only problem with the proportions is that the lower torso/waist.

I wanted to put some bubble coming out of the mouth, or the gills, but I couldn't find a nice looking way to do so.

I am quite pleased with the hands, which I fussed over a lot.

Anyway... COMMENT! I COMPEL THEE!

I am compelled

(You asked for comments and not critque so I'll save you from the Iron Glasses Of Doom)

It's a very intresting long face you've given her. I think the hair almost looks placed on her head, so to speak, and the colouring outside the lines almost makes the hair curly by all the loose ends it has.

Shading on the body is nice and sharp, though the two not quite as dark grey bits on the legs (just below her hips) don't look "right". It does show the body shape well.

I'm afraid her left leg (the one closest to the viewer) is a little short, and her hips are maybe not out wide enough (though she's a fish girl, they don't have to follow human hips - generally I've been taught they're either just under sholder width or the same).

The pose is very good. I like it, and the expression fits with it perfectly.

For bubbles, what I tend to do is: - place a circle with your imagination, then do the brightest outline part of it in white, and the darkest outline park in dark blue. In the middle find shades of blue that fit what's behind the bubbles view and distort a little whats in there .. or just delete any black lines.

Kinda like this...

I have not perfected it though so only try it out and give it a shot, you will probably find ya own better way.

Also: Wouldn't the bubbles come out of her gills?

It's Nice Stuff though! And the hands came out pretty damned nice. I be pleased with myself if I drew em. *thumbs up* <p><div style="text-align:center">Image </div>

Ooh. Pyrrha looks masculine in a fashion I never thought of her, but shizzy. Once I stop nitpicking over how she's a bit different than I imagined, shizzy. =D I love the coloring on her and the pose has a nice fluidity to it, though I believe the proportions on the arms are off because they're a bit short. Still, I is happy. =D

Whoop. Sorry if I screwed up her muscle build, I was thinking "Shark. Mean shark" at the time. Plus, I have trouble controling muscle mass on most of my drawings. I'm glad you like it though.

The left leg (her left) was supposed to be facing towards the viewer, but I couldn't get the foot to look good at that angle. It illustrates the flipper aspect of the foot too.

Nice bubbles. <p>Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?</p>

Still looks kick ass!Image

Like how her appearance is, seemingly in the water, watching something in the distance, (Could it be Remarte', the demon she met in her debut RP, or an injured dolphin? The Mind Boggles!!! :P)

Thanks for doing the character art request I asked for. Lotsa infrequently used characters need to have some time in the spotlight.

Another thing... why do I have the sudden urge to listen the JAWS theme? <p>"I try to entertain you, the best I can. I wish I'd started walking before I ran." --Ozzy "Gets Me Through"</p>
