HOSHIT IKE!

Unread postby Kai » Sun Sep 14, 2008 7:05 pm

I have a report from Oniichan (from another friend of his along the RP grapevine) that despite Houston getting totally pounded in the ass by Ike, Shaun is okay. No power or water, but okay.

Them's the news! Hopefully they'll get things back together down there soon. =/

Yeah, he was telling me Friday night before Ike knocked out his power that he wasn't too worried about anything beyond flooding happening, but it was still frightening to know it was hitting him. I'm glad he came out okay, and I hope things get resettled for him and his family soon.

My Mom and brother are without power (Dad's in Florida for work or pleasure, I forget). Apparently they won't get their power back for a fucking week. A huge area of Kentuckianaho got its power knocked out, I hear, so I guess that's a lot of hospitals & such that need their power to get hooked up first.

So, from Louisville to Cincinnati to Dayton--that's a hella long stretch of highway.

Ike didn't want to go without a fight. He was all Fuck you guys, I'm going to Canada.
Almost there, Ike. Almost.

Thanks for the update, Kai. I thought it was just their internet that was down, I had no idea their power was still out. Hope it gets fixed soon. =[

It actually made it. It hit Southern Ontario too, though not nearly as hard.

I dunno about Dia's part of the state, but all Ike did to where I am in Maryland was drop a little rain on us for half an evening. My heart goes out to everyone who got hit harder than that.

Oh, Mike and I are fine. Our extended family doesn't live in-state, though.

Yeah, I know that, just comparing notes.

I haven't heard anything new about things in Ohio (although Neb told me that from what she hears power should hopefully be back for them by this weekend), but there's some news I imagine will be annoying for Shaun. CenterPoint Energy in Texas released a power restoration schedule by zip code here, and though I won't post his in public here, Shaun's is in the third category that won't be repaired until after Monday.

BB, any chance you can get this info to Shaun if he doesn't have it already?

We *just now* got power back, like, ten minutes ago. I have never been so happy to hit a switch. Warm showers! Laundry! Food storage! Life is good.

"Anything that might be of interest to Slitscan. Which is to say, anything that might be of interest to Slitscan's audience. Which is best visualized as a vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organism craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed. Personally I like to imagine something the size of a baby hippo, the color of a week-old boiled potato, that lives by itself, in the dark, in a double-wide on the outskirts of Topeka. It's covered with eyes and it sweats constantly. The sweat runs into those eyes and makes them sting. It has no mouth, Laney, no genitals, and can only express its mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire by changing the channels on a universal remote. Or by voting in presidential elections."

:zoidberg: does not approve of Ike, not at all.

As for myself? The only damage to my place was a tree falling on our back fence, nothing more.

Granted, It'd be nice to have the power back about now.... e.e
