Banner Selection Poll

All right, it's been one week since the post, and thus, here's the poll. Didn't think it fair to punish Bes for submitting more than one entry, so to keep him from competing with himself and possibly splitting the vote amongst his submissions, I've made the poll by poster rather than by banner; if Bes does win, he can choose which of the four he'd rather see submitted himself. This poll will run for 5 days, and whatever the results are at its end, that's what we'll use.

The submissions:

Why has noone replied to this thing?

I remain incredibly apathetic about the whole thing, but I suppose I find Dave's the most aesthetically appealing of the provided options, although logically it seems like it would make slightly more sense if the "world" on top were slightly to the left of the "world" on the bottom, rather than the other way around.

If I hadn't read that other thread, I wouldn't have known that Chuck's banner's subtext was not, in fact, "prime roleplay".

I am also not entirely certain that advertising yourself on the internet with a cute anime chick is the best way to attract the kind of people who aren't bunnygirle. No offense to DM's art or Bes's efforts.

Personally, I like the presentation of Dave's banner and the idea of a (very) brief tagline/description from Chuck's banner. I think a combination of legible text, and some sort of indication as to what the Hell RPGWW is, would probably be the best way to go. But of course, the size requirement is very limiting, and I'm way too lazy and apathetic to actually whip something up myself.

I maintain that this is because people are silly. The not posting thing, that is. Also: Voted for Dave, because voting for myself feels odd, and voting for Chuck feels like stabbing myself in the eye.

I voted for Bes. Trust me, I know mine sucks. I only made one cuz no one else would...

My vote went do Dave aswell. Voting for Bes' would make it seem like it was obligatory for me. :/ Plus Dave's matches the color scheme and, with what Brianfro said, it also lets people know that the two W's mean.

A few things:

1) While Brian does have a point about the two "World" lines being reversed in direction, I really couldn't find a way to do that without the bottom W blocking parts of the o and r in the top "World". If I had more room it might've been doable =/ This was the best I could do and still have it look nice.

2) I still feel like something's missing from mine, maybe some kind of simple border. Guess it's too late now heh.

3) I now feel horribly, horribly guilty. >_>; Cause I did vote for myself.

Nah, if you do end up winning this, I'm fine with you making a few small changes to things before I send it in, as long as the basic design's the same; wouldn't be fair if you changed things entirely, after all, but a few improvements wouldn't hurt anything. Zero suggested (and I told him to post it here >:) that a 1px black border around it might help the look of it some.

And on the note of the first thing, what about putting the top World in the foreground instead of the background? Then it'd only block part of the W, which wouldn't hurt things any I don't think.

Huh, I hadn't actually thought about that "blocking the o" thing. After messing around in Paint Shop with a few different orientations, I think Dave's original actually does make the most sense.

With some input from Bes, we both came up with a tweak of my original entry:

Circle part was put in by Bes, he also suggested using the forum's background texture.

Thoughts?

I can dig it.

That looks good to me. And Bes helping you out with that seems like a good solution to the tie situation too.

Know what might look nice on that? Borders, as Spaceman said, but possibly rounded. Other than that, it's a great design I can totally get behind.

tried to use less colors and lighten the 'orld' part a bit so it blends better.
Also put a light blue/green above the circle to help define it a bit better.

Above + Spleen's suggestion (I'm assuming?)

Looks great to me. This the one you want me to go with for the submission, Dave, the last one with the rounded corners?

I'd use the rounded off one anyways. Regardless if it gets chosen or not. S'real good.

All right, it's been submitted. We'll know if we're accepted in 3-5 days.

The only issue I can potentially see, is that none of the other affiliate banners on the site use a rounded border like that. If that's a problem I may have to just put normal borders
