recent mod updates:<ul>-=- Crono_Catfish: removed for massive MIA
-=- Uncle Pervy: removed due to having left the forum (he is aware of this)
-=- White Knight Delta/Koss: removed from Discussion forum at request; uninterest in maintaining necessary levels of activity
-=- Jak Snide: removed from RP subfora after IM discussion; uninterest, inactivity
-=- LadydragonclawsEDW: removed from RP subfora, remains Discussion Forum mod

-=- Idran, Lex, BW, and Shini are still interested in their respective subfora
-=- I have not spoken with Kai, Priam, FD, and Banj about their interests, activity, and etc. I imagine, at the least, Kai and Priam are.</ul>These changes came about after a series of IMs with our current mods--those I could get ahold of, at any rate. Before we go about putting new mods and new admins all over the place, I imagine it would be a good idea to figure out which of our current mods and admins are: (1) interested in admodship, (2) willing to admoderate, (3) able to admoderate. See where we need new admins and mods. I also figure it's as well to go straight to the admins and mods themselves to ask them what their thoughts are than to speculate about it without involving them, only to surprise them later.

I have not yet spoken to any of our admins, and to be honest, I'm not entirely comfortable with the task. Given Gus and DM's active interest and participation in this, and involvement as admins, I imagine they are still interested in their duties. As mentioned, I would prefer to be a moderator of the Newcomer forum. This would be a good time for current admins to speak up on their intents and desires in the matter. <p>

I, for one, am glad that Gus is actually around in some sense or another. I must admit that I hadn't seen him in any sense for quite some time, but I suppose that is largely my fault for not looking in the right places (read: AIM).

If Dia wishes to step down, then I say we should probably have one more admin. Three is a particularly good number for this, it seems, but I can't quite place my finger on why precisely. Of course, more (as we had--what, five? Six?--until recently) appears to not be bad.

For the record, I am still interested in Spam modship, and would feel comfortable being an Unspoken mod as well. The only other subforum that I reliably participate in is the Discussion forum, and I don't think I would be quite as good a mod for that sort of environment if directed there specifically. Ironically, I think I could do the admin thing, though. So that's my status. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. As for my position, nothing can be done. Can't deadmin me, can't make me a mod, can't ban me. I had no idea that ezboard did this when I created the board, but I don't see a major problem. I stay away from all the delicate parts of the board (read: the colour schemes) and appear now and then to mass edit post ranks (has Jak noticed his yet?) and flip away.

You all have my word that I will never abuse my power of adminship, nor will I leave the board with no means to contact me.

In case AIM kills me even further (it currently refuses to open IM windows sometimes and never lets me send or get files) I will be giving my email address to some members, and Jak has my phone number.

You can, actually, transfer ezOpship to another. I don't recall the exact process, but it exists. I was reading the various ezComplaints subfora when I learned of the existence of the ezOp status through an explanation of such a process.

At any rate, I'd feel most comfortable if you keep the number of people in the know about your password as low as possible, and made sure that your accounts were secure.

Talked to Kai, and she's also still interested in her modship, as expected. Brian IMed me to let me know he's still interested in his adminship. <p>

Nobody knows my password.

Well, my girlfriend sorta knows it, but she doesn't even know about this forum (I use the password for a joint forum account elsewhere) so who cares? <p>

See, that's what I was referring to. A unique password, and preferably something that is neither easy to guess, nor easy to crack with one of the various programs designed for the purpose. <p>

As long as it's at least 6 characters long, and contains at least one each of lowercase, uppercase, numbers, and symbols, that should be secure enough for such purposes. <p>

Well?

Someone should ask Banj and FD about moddings. Admins should speak up or someone can ask them if they're still interested in the positions.

After that, we can subtract as necessary, see where we're lacking. Then add in new mods and admins. For great justice. <p>

FD, Banj, the modding on both forums is mostly to prevent obnoxious levels of spam (for example: advertising, single word multiple posts) and board-breaking code.

Yeah, but when was the last time someone even busted the forum like that, though? Not saying it couldn't happen ever, mind.

My thoughts exactly, we just need someone to be there "just in case". All modding of these forums requires is a quick check of each post. <p>

I just saw this thread a few moments ago. Talk about falling out of pace with things while I was gone.

Now that I'm aware of totally obvious things that concern me, thanks, Dia. <p>-------------------------
