About a week ago an old roommate of mine told me that a number of people downloaded-(WinMX)-the trick shot sprite comic I made and really liked it. He had all of my old files because he let me put them there when I formatted my harddrive at the time. Now here's the thing, one particular person requested that I make more for his pay site.

I thought, "Whoa hold on a minute! Getting paid to make more of those?!".

I haven't decided what to do yet and thought I could ask some of you for your opinions. Because if I did agree there would have to be alterations of course since only one of the characters was mine, in the event that anyone got upset or anything I mean.

But anyway I still would like to here anybody else's feedback while I'm decideing

So basically you're asking permission to use our sprites?

Those comics are so old, I don't even remember who was in them. <p>

So basically you're asking us if ou can make money off material copyrighted by Sqaure and whoever else? <p></p>

I do remember my IRL spriter friend rambling something about 20% changes to a sprite making it copyright friendly or something. ...

But if you're changing it enough so that it's obviously not even our characters...um...why are you even asking us?

Also, keep in mind: He said it was for a pay site. Not that you'd get paid.

Banjooie brings up a good point here, because from what I heard it would belong to some kind of club site I think and would produce something like less than half a cent for every view it got. So unless everyone in the whole world looked at them there would be no substantial profit of any kind. I was just thinking that it might be fun to make them for some people that wanted and enjoyed them. I wasn't neccessarily asking permission, but what your thoughts of it was.

Personally, I think it's perfectly fine. The sprites aren't mine of course, but it's just grabbing an already made template and using it to your own ends. I assume you won't be copying all details over, so snagging the image and using that's hardly anything to worry about.
