Mostly, I'm just curious. Have any of you even heard of National Novel Writers Month?

It's this group of insane people who get together every November, and they try to write 50,000 words of a story in a single month. And I'm gonna join them this year, and I'll probably succeed in 50K this time.

Anyone else here [Think I'm crazy/Intend to join me/Would rather eat a weta]?

I've heard of it, and it's not so much a 'group' as it is a collective challenge to urge people to finally get around to writing. I dunno if I am up to it, because I am lazy; but good luck :(

I have every intent of trying this year, but chances are that I'll end up deciding that it's too hard almost immediately after trying. We'll see! <p>

I'm considering it but I still debate whether it's as good a use of my time as actually getting around to one writing project I have in mind already (CC fanfic of sorts), my forum RPs at ADV, and the distant possibility of actually doing something with Jeremy and Alice's plotlines as I've been intending for the past four years. <p>

Well, y'know me. I think I'll try to write an exquisitely crafted story on a girl's childhood romance blossoming into a mature relationship. It will contain many aspects of the American Dream and be a subtle critique on modern culture.

EDIT: Also, I have written 847 words! TAKE THAT!

You realize you have to write 1666 and 2/3 words a day to make the 50,000 deadline, right? :{ <p>

Yup, but I started late last night and got sleepy.

Writing 1666 words a day isn't really all that hard, provided you don't care at all about quality. I'm out of proofreading practice, so I have to do it the old-fashioned way instead of policing everything in my head.

What is 1666 words? Can't be more than five pages, single-spaced. <p>[---------------------------]

500 words is about one page, single-spaced, size 12 Times New Roman with default margins. <p>-------------------------

*Shrug* If I had motivation, a garuntee that the few hours a day I'd spend writing would pay off in some fashion, an idea for a story, and I didn't care at all about the quality of what I would produce, then sure! <p>[---------------------------]

I beat Nanowrimo this year too!! My novel was titled "Cantaloupes & Genocide." 50104 words last Saturday.

Now I have TWO novels finished. Still working on getting the other one sent out first, though.

Nanowrimo is fun. Provided that you're a sick, sick masochist and have no social life. It's a way to force yourself to get that idea you've always been playing around with in your head out on paper. (Or in binary, at least.) After all, revising is a lot easier to go back and do when compared to constructing an entire story.
