I can Babelfish it--if someone has actually studied the language, your help would be appreciated.

I can only remember enough French to translate a few words of this, so I'm mostly useless in this endeavor.
But!
I'm pretty sure that Notre Tante means "Our Aunt".

Dang. My kingdom for my dad's old conversational French book...
... no wait! *has a book, no kingdom* Awww...
But yeah. Something about joy and something in our hearts like a rose, then jamais is never, and after that I'm lost. Hope that's the first piece of the puzzle.
--------------------

I do know that the golden part reads:
To our sister,
To our aunt.
It's to be added to the tombstoe of Granma. It was sent to us from her family in France; they all chipped in together to get it.

"Your joy and happiness of living remain in our hearts as a rose that never will fade, a star that we follow."
It looks very nice to me. I'm still iffy on some of the verbs, but it's probably a matter of Frenchisms I was never taught.
-------------------------

"Your joy and your vivaciousness stay in our hearts like a rose that never wilts, a star that follows us."
"A Notre Coeur" means "To our heart(s)," and "A Notre Tante" means "To our aunt."
Vivaciousness is a term of convenience- Technically "Bonheur de vivre" means "Joy in/of life" or "Goodness of life."
The last part is sort of an idiom- A star that follows us when we are lost would be a bit closer to English, but I'm not sure so I can't say with certainty.
"Resteront" is less of a "Remain" and more of a "Stay" or "Rest" in this place. French really needs to get around to expanding their vocabulary.
"Qui nous suit" is "That follows us,"- Suit is conjugated to the star (third person singular), not to the group (which would be first person plural). "That we follow" would be "Qui nous nous suivons." No that's not a typo, that extra Nous is supposed to be there.
[---------------------------]
"There is great disorder under Heaven, and the situation is excellent."

"I eat the talking bees because I am George Washington Christ"

*facepalm* You're right. That is how it's conjugated.
It's been a while. My translation was a little off. I tried, though! :)
-------------------------

[edit] Nev: That's "soeur," not "coeur." :[]

Yeah. I recorded some of the stuff in my livejournal, and posted a couple things in here.
Cancer, and quite possibly doctor incompetency, took her. It was unbelieveable, the effect it made on the community down in Louisville...people from her French club, more than half the employees from the donut shop, old students and family, an unbelieveable number of people showed up. Heck, the receptionist at the funeral home knew who she was--Granma had taught her children French in Kindergarten.
