www.otakon.com

Otakon 2004 will be Jul. 30 - Aug. 1.

[edit 01 May 04] The hotel Dad and the dear foreigners will be staying at will be:

Holiday Inn
1800 Belmont Ave
Baltimore, MD 21244
1-800-250-1625

Call them and ask for their "21 day advance rate" to get a $70 a night fare.

[edit 06 May 04] The prices have gone up. I can only surmise the cheap rooms have sold out.

So far, I have Alex, Dan, and Charles down as staying at my house before/after Otakon. Please let me know if there's any change of plans.

I have to go. I just have to. Pervy, his siter and I have the best cosplay idea ever. Hell, if my hair stays crazy, I might have two different cosplay getups.

Also, I thought Dia was staying at a more expensive hotel closer to the con this time?

Image

Decided against it. I still would rather, even at the cost...but...all of YOU guys will be in that hotel. And honestly, I enjoyed the hotel shennanigans just as much as Otakon itself.

I would love to come, but it all depends on the simple factor of can I save up enough money...stupid expensive university life.

Zem: If you go, you will meet people. It's as simple as that.

As for myself I REALLY want to go. I can afford it out of my own pocket (but it'll take a sizeable chunk of my savings) but I may be able to get my parents to fund me. The only question is whether they'll let me go.

I've been thinking about getting a job at a summer camp or something and then asking to stay for an extra few days. That might work.

Still really sorry about that, by the way, Zem.

Anyway, it looks doubtful that I'll be able to go this year, what with money concerns and all.

Ok, new news here. I may, in fact, be capable of going! Maybe.

I'll probably preregister, as that wouldn't be a horrific loss of money if I end up not going. What it'll depend on is how much money I'll have after Botcon, and whether or not I'll be able to get the time off work to go after getting the time off for going to Botcon. Yeah.

[edit] Also, you losers need to go to Botcon, seriously. :(

Image

As for that, I would seriously like to, though ~Insert whining about distance and certain people talking too much and money here~. So we'll have to see. I'll try, like fer sure.

Through days smeared across the ghosts
Of futures unrequited
Takes hosts of angels to lift my arm
Raised to Heaven through unlighted leagues of void
Weary, paranoid, solitary, secondary
Sadistic, holistic, virtuoso
Trembolo, piccolo, crescendo...
And I die. Only to find I can cry again.

As of today, I should have my registration in the mail via the certified mail thingy, and will be preregistered. All that will leave me to do is buying the train ticket and knowing where I'll be staying.

...so I guess what I'm trying to say is, anyone up for splitting a room again? ^_^;

Talking of registration, will Dia be handling things for us foreigners again, or should be uses the online registrations? I'd have done the latter already, but they only accept Visa and Mastercard.

Reimburse? The $250 is only calculated to cover gas, car, and hotel. I stopping taking the registration into account because of that whole "not going" thing. :(

And I'd assume so!

Also, as a note, I will get any money back to you that spills over. I don't expect it to, but if it will, I don't plan to hoard it all to myself.

I will be going, most likely. I'll get Chris to Drive me, we'll toss Kristen in the trunk, leave her squad of fangirls of DOOM behind, and see about splitting a hotel room. If that works out, we are so putting Dave up. :{ ... If not, then... fack.

Not coming. Sorry all but it's impossible because of 3 reasons:

1) Problems at school meant I had to drop out for a semester. My parents are not going to let me go anywhere on my own really, and if they did it would not be for more than a weekend. Plus they've never been too happy about me staying with people they don't know.
2) I've got a job now and am having to take a week off for a family vacation. This means I'm going to be working non-stop the rest of the time so I really can't fly off to America.
3) For some reason this time last year everyone was going to be there, now it seems as if it'll only be a handful of people. I think I'll save up for the next big gathering of RPGWWers, wherever and whenever it might be. Hopefully soon.

There's a couple of other concerns such as money, but those are the big three. Sorry to dissapoint, but hoepfully next year everyone will be able to attend.

I have a question o.o. Um What are the prices for metro tickets, or are they the same as those in DC and stuff? Also what are we going to do about food, such as breakfast, lunch we can by that ourselfs I'm sure, and dinner since we will be in the hotel around those hours.... maybe... ^^;; are we just ganna buy food at the convention for all three?

Also is anyone going to have a problem with me having to take pills and stuff, cause I do need to have one three time a day and another two at night. Also are the people at the convention going to have a problem with it o.o?

Re: > Re: Wee

No idea about the metro, with the hotel the guys are staying at, Dad's basically going to have to drive them to and from the convention on command. Others staying at the same hotel will need to find a parking lot near the convention center and use that.

As for food I imagine you will need to make use of local fast food restaurants or pack a lot of yummies. You won't want to buy what's at the convention because that's damned expensive.

And no one should have problems with you taking your pills, that's just how it goes. *ruffles hair*
