It is the soldier

Unread postby Darkblade2000us » Thu Oct 02, 2003 9:29 pm

My father seved, two of my older sisters served, and my oldest brother served. When I got this e-mail the other day it made me think. Which is obviously something I don't do very often, but lend me your ears fellow RPGWWers and listen.

It is the soldier, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.
It is the soldier, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the soldier, not the campus organizer,
who has given us the freedom to demonstrate.
It is the soldier, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the soldier,
who salutes the flag,
who serves under the flag,
and whose coffin is draped by the flag,
who allows the protester to burn the flag.

Even though there are certian aspects in having a millitary, I dissagree.

It is the soilder that kills countless innocent lives, and it is the soilder that keeps the rest of the world on edge.

Violence only begets violence.

Meaning for all you people out there who dont have a CLUE what I mean,

Violence is met with Violence, which is met with violence, which is met with violence, which is met with....

See where Im going with this?

Dont get me wrong, without the soilder, chances are I would live in a world much like 1984. But dont confuse yourself into thinking that it is the all mighty soilder that we can thank for everything, which if I read that right, is what you want us to do.

Either that, or I had too much coffee this morning. @_@
------------------

See Monty Python's "Meaning of Life" part 3: "Fighting Each Other". That says it all really.

Another crazy conversation between me and Jak

Me: Seriously, it pees when I burn!

Jak:....

Me:....

Jak: Don't you mean-

Me: No, seriously! Here, you set my arm on fire and I'll wet my pants.

It is the soldier who walks into combat, knowing it's not always just.
It is the soldier who realizes this, and does it anyways, because they know someone must.
It is the soldier, more than anyone else who realizes war kills people, because his buddies die every day.
It is the soldier who wants the dying to end more than you do, just so they don't have to be up to their necks in it every day.
It is the soldier who is willing to be demonized, spit on, out cast, and laughed at while doing their duty.
And it is the soldier who does all this, so you don't have to.

At least, from the military men I've talked to (including my father, both grandfathers, and several mentors.)

English does not have a word for what you do to do a dead thing to make it stop chasing you. Clearly, you cannot kill that which is dead. But until Mr. Webster comes up with replacement, we are forced to render dead that which is dead. - Just Call Me Fed

The man wants a new pair of pants. What's wrong with that? - Crawling Reshiki

This is why people who send chain e-mails should die.

Chain emails should be illegal.
