Spend the 15 or so dollars and get a tiny USB mouse, if you haven't. Get a small set of earbud headphones for it, if you haven't. Get a good case for it, if you haven't. Keep a cleany-cloth for it handy, if you haven't. I rarely use my laptop when I'm home, but having everything in one place, easy to pack for when I go places, is great.

Also, don't hit the "Frog please" button unless you really mean it :( Seriously, I'm drownin' in frogs here.

I kept the box my documentation came in as a suitable interface between my legs and the computer itself; it was about the right size. Also, be sure, very sure, to turn off the laptop whenever it is not terribly inconvenient--laptops are more prone than desktops to overheating, and their hard drives take less of a beating to become worn down to uselessness. Be very courteous of your laptop!

Which is best visualized as a vicious, lazy, profoundly ignorant, perpetually hungry organism craving the warm god-flesh of the anointed. Personally I like to imagine something the size of a baby hippo, the color of a week-old boiled potato, that lives by itself, in the dark, in a double-wide on the outskirts of Topeka. It's covered with eyes and it sweats constantly. The sweat runs into those eyes and makes them sting. It has no mouth, Laney, no genitals, and can only express its mute extremes of murderous rage and infantile desire by changing the channels on a universal remote. Or by voting in presidential elections."

Yeah, I have a netbook with a solid state drive, so I don't have to think about hard drive silliness.

If your laptop has a real hard drive, make sure you keep it level and don't shake it or whatever. If you find yourself under attack by graboids, it's best to leave it turned off.

Another thing to keep in mind along those lines is if you're going to use it while it's plugged in for long periods of time, remove the battery. Heat reduces a battery's lifespan.

And tends to reduce the responsiveness of the "Frog please" button.

Don't spill water on it.

Luckily, my touchpad seems to have resumed functioning after it had a few days to dry.

Yeah, it may seem counter intuitive since frogs are amphibious, but water can damage the other internals.

Make sure to spill everything that isn't water on it, or it won't work properly. You can get by without one or two fluids, but try to get as many as you can!

And don't be afraid of 'doubles', such as different brands of syrup, or using both a green tea and a black tea.

Dude, donuts. I wish this thread was a physical place so someone could buy two dozen donuts and put it on the bench over here so we could all partake.

If this thread was a physical place, it would be furnished with benches, I feel strongly.

DEEPFRYING. OK, I have a weakness for Krispy Kreme, but they're hard to come by where I'm at in the city. Someone give me 1000 Krispy Kremes. DO IT.

No, look, he's right. There were totally Krispy Cremes inside that bench, for some reason.

o_o Dude, I know, that's why I was doing it. I wanted to make sure Cha knew where they were, because I figured he'd appreciate it.
