So I got me an Ubuntu CD, but I admit I know next to nothing about this here "reformatting" and "repartitioning" whatnot and hoo-ha. If someone could give me some advice for cleaning up my computer and getting Windows XP off it so I can install my shiny new Linux, I'd appreciate it.

Then you might see more of me!

I am up for this! Though I should note that Linux will offer to do the partitioning and reformatting stuff for you. Or my LiveCD did, anyway.

Also, I could just handle it in person with you on Saturday.
