This game is the shit. As a result of its awesomeness, I spent the bulk of thanksgiving at my friend's house rocking out into the wee nights of the morning. And the downloadable content is great. Singing is surprisingly fun, but really sensitive on the higher difficulties. Drumming = love.

I've got a copy too, and it totally makes up for the dullfest that was Guitar Hero 3, proving that it's Harmonix that makes Guitar Hero what it is, not RedOctane.

I mainly play drums and guitar, haven't touched bass once and only done vocals a few times, but as Molo said, drumming = win. Now if only my pedal knee would stop hurting after long sessions.

Damn you all and your having the expensive consoles. Actually, 'damn' is perhaps too strong a word. Maybe 'bollocks to you' or 'Your face looks funny.' Since the PS2 version comes out in about a month anyway, I hear. Woo!

Curse you all for being in America while I must pine away for a distant release date.

According to Amazon.co.uk: Release Date: 28 Mar 2008

Khan.

I'm enjoying Guitar Hero 3 so far, not as much as I did GH 2, but I think that's mostly down to a weaker song list. There are only a handful of songs that make me giggle in anticipation (Rock and Roll All Night, Anarchy in the UK, Through the Fire and Flames, Devil Went Down to Georgia and Rock You Like a Hurricane being the top ones) while the second game had a dozen more that I really wanted to play. Add onto this that the extra buyable songs from the store are almost all completely pants and I don't see myself dedicating as much time to this game as its predecessor.

Regarding GH3

Unread postby PriamNevhausten » Thu Nov 29, 2007 2:23 pm

Not to mention the style is either copy/pasted from GH2 or just outright gone. Lars is completely unfun to pick as a character anymore because his facial expression just doesn't change. Clive is gone! Why is Clive gone?! The post-song money-earning thing is copied (textually speaking) DIRECTLY from GH2. The pause screen has a flaming bunny with a daisy in its mouth, wearing a thin crown. The pre-song loader text paints you as stupid, an asshole, or both. The tutorial is just rotten in its style--absolutely rotten. The game doesn't have any background music while saving, loading, or playing the tutorial! IN A MUSIC GAME.

Activision, I hate you, and I am not going to buy GH4 should you have the gall to do that to the series again. I probably should have returned GH3 when I realized Harmonix wasn't involved, but I gave it a chance anyway. Silly me.

This seems kinda out of context. You were describing bad stuff, and then--BAM! FLAMING BUNNY WITH A DAISY IN ITS MOUTH!

Huh. Like most threads I've seen on the subject the thread is becoming less about why Rock Band is awesome and more about why GHIII sucks.

Honestly, I still kinda like GHIII but for different reasons then I like Rock Band. Rock Band is still probably the better game overall though, I guess. I dunno.

Anyhow, my main purpose in this was to see if anyone had this on the 360 which would make activating my Live account again worthwhile. Is this the case? {Y/N}

Got it on 360. It's good stuff. For those without next-gen systems, the PS2 version is out on Dec. 12th, and if you plan to get it, preorder it, or you will not find a copy until next year.

Which would only be like 3 weeks later, so that wouldn't be too bad. :D

Reminds me of *gasp* drumming!

I really want to play Rock Band but don't have a nextgen system ;_; I'm a drummer in real life, dammit, can't I be one in a video game too?

I was talking about your "next year" comment, I don't actually know anything about Rockband beyond this thread here.

I'll try to convince a pack of friends to play it on our nearly game store, but chances are high they'll say "no".

So, the rumors of faulty equipment true?

Yeah. Everything I've heard says that the equipment will break before or after you play for a few hours. Stuff like buttons snapping off and sensors not picking up input and all that.

I've heard bad things about the guitar controller, to be sure. I've also heard about drums breaking, but that was not exactly in the ideal environment.

Ahh, so they built in the band drama into the equipment as well... Breaking in all inopportune times. They really need that needle controller from southpark to simulate shooting up before the gig.

Really, as an owner of the game, I've only experienced one issue, which was the guitar breaking. That happened because the first production run of the guitars had a strum bar glitch that Harmonix fixed on all of the later models. Suffice to say, the first production run of the game has already sold completely out. If you can find it, your guitar should work fine.

As for the drums breaking, that's not happened for neither me nor my buddy who has the game and plays it harder than I do. His drumsticks are starting to splinter, but really, that happens with ALL drumsticks. The drama about the instruments breaking is really quite exaggerated, so I would say don't let it get in the way of your interest in the game. If you want the game, get it. If anything DOES break, EA replaces it for free, so who cares?

What, I think the guitar for RB is aeons better than the GH2 model.
