Street Fighter 4, yo!

Unread postby WillBaseton » Wed Oct 17, 2007 11:18 am

Capcom announced it. Commence bitching/praising/meh-ing now. :O

I'm interested to see what they do with it, at the very least, even if they've totally skimped on any gameplay footage or screenshots to coincide with the announcement. It doesn't even have a console yet. Even so, it's Street Fighter 4. That's gotta count for something.

Thoughts?

EDIT: OMG LOGOZ

While I'm actually a small Street Fighter fanboy I have to say:

Calling Street Fighter 4 A New Beginning and only showing Ryu and Ken in the CGriffic game trailer is a bit of a laugh. A New Beginning, with the same guys, again!

Still Capcom America (apprently) have the licence for Street Fighter now so I can't help feel its them doing it. If so my hope the games going to be great drops a little. Still, we live in hope.

I hope Dhalsim's in it.

If it's anywhere as awesome as Third Strike, I am totally in.

Also, I demand a link to information beyond the logo. Capcom's websites (Japan and US both) appear to have no information about it whatsoever, so I am tempted to say it's not announced at all. IS IT?

Man, you are an awesome faker. And what the hell is with Capcom not splashing this all over every one of their pages?

So true.

I remain cautious until I see what is actually happening with this game. The totally sweet trailer makes me wonder if it's going to be venturing into the third dimension.

Probably not.

...yeah. I'm hoping for more of the SF33S awesomeness that I saw. Not that I was any good at it, mind you. But it was awesome.

Well, I mean their main pages. Like this one (ignoring the blue weird-ass globe image that only says Street Fighter if you click it, which is not an obvious choice) or this one or this one or this one. It's kind of absurd to me that you have to go anywhere BUT the company's sites to actually find info on their recently-unveiled stuff.

I'm pretty sure the reason for this is that Capcom's got their big conference going on this week, and as such they've put information on the games under strict embargo until Friday. I assume Capcom will wait until then to unleash actual details on the games on their sites, rather than saying "WE HAVE A GAME BUT NO INFORMATION ON IT!"

Which is uncommon practice, considering recent trends. Recall, for instance, the Transformers movie website for a very long time was just the graphic of the eye looking over the horizon at distance.

Alas. Perhaps I expect too much! But I sure do love to talk about it. BLAH BLAH BLAH LOOK AT ME I AM PRIAM MY POST COUNT IS HUGE.

God damn I am tired. *Sleep*

Umm.. You do realize that on your first link, that right bang in the news section it says :

We promised a "Megaton"...
Oct 17 11:54 am, by Capcom News

...and I'll hope you agree we've DELIVERED. Head on over to Street Fighter World to view the trailer

As for Capcom JP not saying anything on it, well, its not there game. Capcom USA is making the thing, so its probably news for them too. And Capcom World seem to just be about cruddy mobile phone games. Madness.

Well, dammit. When I linked it, the top article was the one about Bionic Commando, I promise.

At least they're getting it in gear. I guess that's a step in the right direction.

I'm not terribly excited about a white guy with dreadlocks, but otherwise Bionic Commando looks like it might actually be kind of cool. Comparisons to recent Spider-Man games seem unavoidable.

I especially enjoyed the remixed music in the trailer, and the fact that you're apparently fighting against "the red guys".

Spider-Man can't pull shit down on top of your head. It's like if Venom was badass.

Well, the first screenshot's here, for those interested. 2.5d gameplay confirmed, which for some will be a good thing and for others a very bad thing. Looks like the age of the sprite is over.

...aside from the DS, I guess.
