STOP THINKING THAT YOU KNOW WHAT IT IS I WANT TO DO WITH EVERYTHING ON MY COMPUTER. YOU DON'T. STOP AUTO FORMATING MY DOCUMENTS. STOP UPDATING THINGS ONTO MY COMPUTER. STOP DOING EVERYTHING. WHEN I WANT SOMETHING TO HAPPEN I WILL TELL YOU TO DO IT. PLEASE STOP ASSUMING.

Thank you. I'm buying a mac now.

Because obviously Apple wouldn't do anything in this vein. They're all about assuming their users are computer experts that know what they can do and what they want to do. :O

Honestly, this was meant as more of a general "ARGHBARGLE I AM GOING TO THROW MY COMPUTER INTO A WALL IF I DON'T RANT A LITTLE" type post, but if you wanna make a pissing contest out of it, fine. Let's rock.

You'll note that I never said I was a computer expert. All I said is I'm tired of my computer doing shit on it's own. The post was written in a heat of passion, I will admit, mostly because MSword2003 had put me in a fit of rage because of it's ABSOLUTE REFUSAL to do anything that I asked of it. My outrageous demands included:

-Turning off the underline function.

-Trying to single space specific parts of my document and double space others.

-Using superscript.

-Not capitilizing the first letter of certain statements. I was trying to type out some algebraic equations, and sometimes the first thing I'm gonna type is "x" and, amazingly, I might just not want that capitalized.

Now why wouldn't it do any of these things? Fuck if I know. I thought it was the autoformating but turning off every instance of that I could possibly find didn't seem to do jack. So I'm forced to assume that my computer thinks it's smarter then me and thinks it's totally better to format math homework as if it was english homework. Obviously I'm a tard for thinking anything else?

No? Perhaps I'm a tard for thinking that if I'm unhappy with the product provided by one company, then perhaps I should move to the compeitior's product?

I mean, shit. I've been dealing with this kind of crap for nigh on ten fucking years now. I put a CD in. Fucker pops up a window asking me "Hey shithead, what do you want to do with the CD you just put in me?" while I'm in the middle of doing whatever it was I put the damn thing in there for. I'm constanly downloading updates to fix holes caused by the update that was patching holes caused by the update before it. And so on and so forth. And now they want me to update into an OS that requires a gig of memory just to provide basic goddamn functionality?

But wait, sorry. I'm obviously a giant idiot for thinking that I'm allowed to attempt something else because I feel that it can't possibly be worse then what I'm already using. I'll just continue to throw money at things that anger me. Thanks for showing me the folly of my ways.

Hey, you're perfectly correct, if it's bothering you that much of course you're free to try the competitor. All I'm saying is that when I think "computer that doesn't talk down to me", my first thought isn't "Macintosh".

Though I don't know how much luck you'll have there, since I believe Microsoft Word is the main word processor on Macs as well at the moment. You can still buy AppleWorks, but it's not bundled with the OS anymore.

Blargh, don't that figure. Stupid monopoly.

Well, if nothing else I know that macOS is less bloated. Either way it's all moot until I have the money to actually put my money where my mouth is, so to speak.

"For example, this light grey area could represent shenanigans and tom-foolery"

...The UK ads are so much better than the US ads. :(
