Note that I entered 'usually'. I expected (no, hoped) that there would be a few solid examples of good dungeons.
I will admit that the dungeons I played in Ocarina of Time (all the way up to... oh, that Volcano, I think) were less a never-ending series of mazes and random encounters, more a series of chances to utilise your special abilities and skills, which are what a dungeon should come across as.
I also like the dungeons in Dark Cloud (and DC2) if only because they're relatively simple and enable you to leave and/or save at the end of each 'floor'.
Baroque's dungeons I like, as well, but if only because of the pure ambience. The dark, gritty, steampunk-esque environments (and liberally mixed with a dose of bizarre monsters) helps make up for the pure tedium of yet another floor.
Also, on topic for FFV: they could reasonably do some sort of side-story entry, just with the Warriors of Dawn. You know, *Spoiler*, *Spoiler*, *Spoiler*, and , of course, *Spoiler*. Possibly as a prequel to the main story of FFV.

Dan: Yeah, you've changed a lot too, into an old man! I went to see the devil, now it's your turn!
Curtis: Oh, my pupil, so tenacious of life, guess I have to kill you again.
Dan: Shut up, before you run out of breath!
Curtis: I got rid of those smiles, there's no one left to disturb our game. Just you, and me.
Dan: Sounds fair, 'cuz I hate holding back, even for an old fart like yourself.
Curtis: Talk all you want, I won't need six bullets for you.
Dan: Or four for you.
