Silk Road?

Anyone else out there trying out www.silkroadonline.net ?

If so! Post your thoughts, characters, server, etc.

I typically play on Olympus, as either ShenJi or Miiyan.

It's entertaining, but buggy! Some interesting new stuff though. And very pretty!

Or, you know, you could spam this all to hell. I don't care. :D

I've heard great things about it, but I am too lazy for MMOs these days.

Might try this. Not sure though, because I've never heard of it before and the website is nigh incomprehensible! "Lead extreme ability with force", indeed. <p><hr />Radio message from HQ:

Considering it, but the screenshots look like they'd absolutely kill my computer.

Edit: Got it all set up, but the servers are full it seems. Which one are you guys on, anyway? <p>

:D OKAY after a marathon of leveling, my critiques thus far.

Too many tards with dumb names like JerkfaceMcqeeJackSparrow99XXX, ugh. Not many beggers though! Usually crowded until evening time. Then it thins out nicely.

Curse filters. ANNOYING! But not too bad. Means less 11 year olds running about screaming fuck.

Sometimes you get stuck in odd places on terrain like some narrow bridges and doorways. But this is rare and easy to get out of.

Berserk mode is too damn fun! ......*thumbs up thus far!*

EXTREMELY ENGRISHY. Which is either amusing, annoying or a solid mix of the two. The downside is trying to understand tutorials. The upside? STupid engrish in game. n_n

I am Sung. Apparently I have the power to see ghosts, because everyone's textures are completely white.

Edit the Secondth: Great. Now it's crashing. 'Fraid I'll have to pass on this one.

Edit the Thirth: Nevermind. I got it running, but now everything is a step away from being goraud shaded. But, hey, it works. <p>

So, my first impressions are relatively good on this game. The animations (actually, most of the graphics -- look at the river running under the bridges some time) rock, and the classless thingie is pretty well done. The PvP system, with the caravans and bandits and whatnot, is well concieved, so hopefully it'll be fun once I actually get to that point. We should set up a guild of highway bandits or something. I saw something about dungeons on their website, but since it could only be considered english in the loosest of senses, I'll have to actually check 'em out to see what they're about.

The fact that when you tell it to delete a character it waits a week before actually doing it sucks, though, especially when combined with the 3 character per server limit. There's an awful lot of grinding, too, but then it's an MMO. While the music is nice, some of the environmental sounds are really stupid. Seriously, what's that thing that sounds like a european police siren? Is it supposed to be a bird or something? Also, they should make a Warcraft-style auction house, so that hundreds of people don't set up shops and afk for days at a time and lag up the entire goddamn city.

EDIT: If I'm on you'll probably see me as an ice mage named Zhu, and once it finishes deleting my other experimental characters next week, I'll mostly be playing a glaive-fighter named Ruomei. <p><hr />Radio message from HQ:

go to a dock with boats.
shoot one of its sails with an arrow.
teleport to another place with boats and shoot an arrow in a sail.
recall to your original dock and there will be a man on the boat.
he'll say there are dragons in the north region and give you the singing sword.
you can use his boat to go to the north and kill the dragon. <p><div style="text-align:center">

FD had some good points, so I won't repeat them. Ultimately, it's fun, but it would be a lot more fun if I could stop dying becuase I lagged just enough to not be able to use a potion when I really needed one. I've always hated the concept of losing EXP when you die, and it's even worse when you died because of things that are completely beyond your control. <p><div style="text-align:center">Image</div></p>Edited by: [url=http://p068.ezboard.com/brpgww60462.showUserPublicProfile?gid=brainwalker>BrainWalker</A]&nbsp; Image at: 8/25/06 16:44

While we're on the topic, (ha) can we get everyone's character names? My twinking options have been terribly limited. <p><hr />

What would really be nice is if I could find recommended tech specs for this game anywhere on the site. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. It is a secret you have yet to grasp, although the first syllable has been spoken in a dream you cannot quite recall." --Unknown Armies</span></p>

It's in the Game Guide, crazily enough. If you bought your rig within the year, it should be able to handle it. But I SUGGEST that video card, cuz without it the game is laggy as hell.

... man I need that video card... <p><hr />
