I may have already known of both of these titles, but that does not make them any less awesome.

I'm almost giddy over these two. I say "almost" because I have a terrible dark history of being unable to afford anything cool.

Image

I'm sorry, maybe it's just me, but I'd still be happier if they just released a port of the original FF3, possibly with better graphics. That's what I've wanted, not a new version altogether.

Dan: Yeah, you've changed a lot too, into an old man! I went to see the devil, now it's your turn!
Curtis: Oh, my pupil, so tenacious of life, guess I have to kill you again.
Dan: Shut up, before you run out of breath!
Curtis: I got rid of those smiles, there's no one left to disturb our game. Just you, and me.
Dan: Sounds fair, 'cuz I hate holding back, even for an old fart like yourself.
Curtis: Talk all you want, I won't need six bullets for you.
Dan: Or four for you.

You might possibly get that, anyhoo, on the Wii. Only, you know. In Japanese.

to make the pain go away

I am furious that FF3 for DS was supposed to be released three months after launch and was one of the reasons I purchased it.

That seems like an odd thing to be furious over considering that there are many other reasons to have a DS.

Image

Edited by: [url=http://p068.ezboard.com/brpgww60462.showUserPublicProfile?gid=brainwalker>BrainWalker</A] Image at: 5/24/06 10:32

I did not know it was going to be until a little while ago, so I'm happy at any rate! I'm also happy to see an old FF game coming over that is not just ported like all the other pre-FF7 games; nice to see something different done.

Speaking of DSes, isn't there a periphial that allows over-the-net connectivity to other players? If so, I should get one--cus, you know, I could play with some of you folks. Games, or something.

dictionary.com | encyclopædia dramatica

The DS supports 802.11b out of the box for short-range play (max of 65 feet), and you can get an adapter for it to play over the net, yeah. There are also various DS hotspots that Nintendo set up in various stores around the country, where you can take your DS there and play online without your own adapter.

Or if you have wireless internet in your house. You just need to play rather close to our router. It works great, from what I've experienced. You just need to configure you DS with what ever game you're using. Shouldn't take more than 2 minutes.

...That isn't possible, Ganon, since the DS doesn't have an internal TCP/IP stack. Unless you're talking about something other than playing over the net with someone outside your house entirely.

If you have a linksys wireless internet router, you can play your DS over it. Just have the DS search for local connection points, and it should pop up. I did it at my appartment. If there is a wireless network ANYWHERE within range of your DS, and it doesn't have an access password to use it, you can play your DS over it.

Unless Idran is talking about some 3rd party piece of hardware which will allow you to play any game online, I'm not sure where he's getting his information from. There are a handful (and only a handful) of games which will allow the DS to connect to the internet through various means (a compatible router, or really anywhere you could get online with a laptop) with no special attachments needed.

Well, before we switched routers over here, I enjoyed many an online match in Mario Kart DS. Schooled some Japanese kids, even. But since the switch, it doesn't seem to want to cooperate with me anymore. I can play against random people, but I can't seem to connect to friends, which is troublesome :(

Image

Researching further, it looks like I was wrong with regard to some games, if they're designed specifically to take advantage of the internal wi-fi; I guess those have their own TCP/IP stacks coded into them. But the DS itself is only built to the basic 802.11b specs, which, for those of you that know the OSI seven-layer model, is only a layer 2 protocol, and thus the DS can't work over the Internet on its own. (Edit: Looking further, this itself may be wrong; I can't find confirmation beyond a single website, so feel free to ignore my position on this issue entirely.)

Should have checked into it further before I spoke, though. Sorry about that, Ganon.
