www.smashbros.com/en/music/index.html

"The main theme was created for us by none other than famed Final Fantasy composer, Nobuo Uematsu!

Additionally, opera singer Ken Nishikiori has also participated in this project on vocals.

...And as a special service to readers of this site, I can say that the game's music will be performed by a full orchestra.

It will be a deluxe chorus complete with lyrics in Latin.

It's of a slightly different disposition than previous Smash Bros. games, wouldn't you say?

I also want to change the atmosphere of the game itself a little, too. But you'll just have to look forward to how I'll be doing that."

Edit: Also, SSBB will support online multiplayer for two players. Not more than that, unfortunately, though, as they haven't worked out the syncing for that to an acceptable degree yet. <p>

Is that...a nintendog in the image section?

Who are some of the other characters? There's the metaknight, Snake (and his box, or a suitable substitute), and...is that Kid Icarus? I'm pretty sure that's a confirmed game, maybe a launch title. Who's the blond chick with the light saber?

Also, would someone please tell me what other characters are in the trailer? I ain't downloadin'. :|

Thanks for the linku, Kate and Idran!

I kinda wonder if they've altered the designs for any of the other characters, like Captain Falcon and Starfox. Or are the nine in the preview going to be the only characters in the new game? <p><div style="text-align:center">

I've googled some other articles. Supposedly, the trailer is all Nintendo 'has to show for the work they've done since October;' they might not have decided on what other characters they'll have or they might have, but either way they aren't letting slip about it.

Doesn't look like it'll be a launch title. It's slated for 2007 now.

It's not a launch title, and those have been confirmed as not the only new characters. In fact, there's a poll going on at the Japanese site for selecting a new character, and a Nintendo rep has been quoted as saying they've been in talks to include other third-party characters besides Snake.

In fact, apparantly, Kojima begged the designers of SSBM to include Snake in that game, but there wasn't time, so they contacted him about including him in this one and got the go-ahead.

For those of you that don't want to download the trailer, here it is on YouTube: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JhH1yEZhf7A <p><hr />

... PYRAMID HEAD? BO-ring!

If it's Konami we're talking about, why not a Belmont, or to a lesser extent, Soma Cruz?

And yes, that is Kid Icarus. Apparently his actual name is Pit. Go figure. <p><hr />

By saying that, Chuck, you clearly have no idea how cool PH is.

Any SH character would be appreciated, considering that Silent Hill is Konami's big horror series and does in fact have a decently sized cult of fans. Perhaps not as big as one for MGS or Castlevania, no, but one big enough for such a character to show up alongside Snake.

... never mind that there's literally no chance for any such character to appear. I still want to see such. D: <p><hr />

End seems to forget there were no Silent hill games for any nintendo console(right?), unlike metal gear, which had nes and GBC games.

Unfortunately, End, like I said, it's not Konami that was the reason for including Snake, it was Kojima himself.

Besides, I would hope not to see any SH character in a Super Smash Brothers game, myself. They'd fit even less so than Snake. <p><hr />

The fact that they revived Pit from Eggplant hell pleases me a bit. That game was hard as hell on Nintendo.

Oh, also, I might as well give a link to that opinion poll I mentioned before. Though since you have to justify your request and it's a Japanese site, this will probably only be useful to three people on this board.

Glu: There was in fact a Silent Hill game for the GBA.

Idran: Yeah, I read the article in further detail and found that Kojima himself apparently wanted Snake in SSBM... huh. Bummer.

I personally believe that Pyramid Head, Valtiel, or any of the other characters could be no weirder than Mr. Game & Watch. <p><hr />

I'm not talking about weirdness. I'm talking about how well a "realistic" psychological horror figure that rapes other monsters from a serious plot-driven game would fit into a game with a sword-wielding elf, a mouse that uses electricity, a plumber that shoots fireballs, and a tongue-in-cheek fourth-wall-breaking special ops agent. What would his smash move be, impaling the other combatant on his great knife as blood spurts from their slowly-dying body? <p><hr />

I refuse to let Idran stamp out my dreamn.

What about Snake? What will his special move be, snapping the necks of the other characters? Perhaps using them as a body shield against other combatants, or simply shooting them up with <random equippable gun weapon>? While PH's style and attack form are out of sorts with the rest of the cast, yes, so are Snake's. <p><hr />

Yes, but it's a lot easier to lighten up this guy for a Super Smash Brothers game than Pyramid Head.

Honestly, End, give me a move set for Pyramid Head that would work for a Super Smash Brothers game. Or Valtiel, or whoever else you would want to see in it. Can you give me one that both keeps with the light-heartedness of the series and stays true to the core of the character? <p><hr />

I shall also note that a Belmont is a possibility for a secret character, especially since Castlevania easily has a better Nintendo relationship than Snake ever will... <p><hr />

Yes, in fact, I can!

Not Pyramid Head. He is in fact too bloody and too gory. To make him SD or 'cute' in anyway would chip away at his meaning.

Valtiel doesn't do much in the way of 'fighting' beyond strangling nurses.

No, no, you see, the character would be Harry.
Harry is perhaps the goofiest of all of the SH characters as he is prone to stumbling, tripping, and falling moreso than any othe others.

Many of his moves could involve such. He could also use the Hyper Blaster, a super secret weapon in SH1, inspired by Konami's light gun of the same name, to shoot colorful beams! And let us not forget the UFO. <p><hr />

Well, Roy is a very popular character in Melee. I know a lot of people, myself included, that use Roy often. I generally switch between Kirby (who we already know will be included), Zelda (who we can probably assume), and Roy. <p>-_-___-___-___-_-

It's not infeasible, though, for them to eschew either Marth or Roy and just leave the other one in, because there are very few differences between them mechanically even in Melee. <p><span style="font-size:xx-small;">"It's in the air, in the headlines in the newspapers, in the blurry images on television. Well, there are also few mechanical differences between Captain Falcon and Ganondorf, but people still play them differently. <p>-_-___-___-___-_-
