NIS America, Inc. is proud to announce its Random Name Campaign for
Disgaea 2! As most of you already know, if you do not give your character
a name in an NIS game, your character will be given a name randomly.
Wouldn’t it be cool to have your own original name be used for these
random names in Disgaea 2? If you have any great unique names, please
contribute to this campaign today!

How this campaign works:
In this campaign, there are 2 stages, so please read carefully how each
stage works and the rules below.

How to enter and the rules:

Stage 1.

- Please send your original and unique names to
Support@NISAmerica.com with “Disgaea 2 Random Name Campaign”
as the subject.
- Each person can enter up to 5 random names.
- By submitting the name, you must agree to relinquish all copyrights of
your entry names to us, NIS America, Inc.
- We reserve the right to withdraw any entries from this campaign
without any notice.

Stage 2.

- NIS America, Inc. will list all the entry names on our site for your vote.
- Once all names are posted on the site, please feel free to vote for the
names you would like to see in the game.
- Top 20 that earned the most votes will be used as random names in
Disgaea 2.

There's all sorts of intellectual property and such that would tangle things.

Though certain ones, such as "Enlil", cannot be copywrited in any way, what with it being the name of an Aztec (I think?) God. <p><hr /><div style="text-align:center">What's wrong with this ring?!</div></p>

I'd just as soon not bother. And for that reason, since there's a precedent to mention it now, I'd also like that no one else bother to submit names I've made up.

Will anything happen? Of course not. But honestly I don't care for Nippon Ichi to see "Besyanteo" or "Jeridan" or "Shada" pop out of them at random. Zero's already taken liberties with other peoples' names unless I've missed something glaring, let's not follow his example! =D <p><hr /><div style="text-align:center"></div></p>

Just come up with existing names and change the first letter.

Marvin becomes Tarvin.
John becomes Tohn.
Jesus becomes Tesus.

And you can't copyright a character's name in most situations anyway, as far as I was aware. Unless I'm thinking of trademark. <p><hr />

That rule's probably just there to keep anyone from suing them for using the names that are submitted without paying for them.

So, noone bothered to suggest any OTHER names? Nippon Ichi games always have such fucking crazy and/or fucking awesome random names for characters. "Dust Cloth". What the Hell kind of name is that? And why did I keep it around for awhile?

There's probably some restrictions listed somwhere, though. I'd want to take a look at that before coming up with a list of names.
