Open Poll, most angsty villain

That's right, this is an open poll / discussion about what videogame / cartoon / movie villain that is truly worthy of being dubbed "Most angst evah 2005".

Personally I'd vote for Mr Freeze. I always feel so sad when I see the WB Cartoon Batman (the one where Robin is hardly ever present) which introduces him... the scene where he's in Ravenloft looking at the small snow...ahh...thing is just so sad. ;_;

Runners up are Kuja (aka Emo Kid), The Lizard, That Symbiose Chick (both Marvel) and... maybe Doc Oc.

Wait, isn't Mr. Freeze _not_ angsty since he actually has a good reason for the way he feels? I mean, if any bad feelings were angst, then it wouldn't be considered an insult I'd think.

Frankenstein, and his monster, are both quite the angsty villains.

Main Entry: angst
Pronunciation: 'ä[ng](k)st, 'a[ng](k)st
Function: noun
Etymology: Danish & German; Danish, from German
: a feeling of anxiety, apprehension, or insecurity

News flash: 90% of people on the internet who use the word "angst" use it incorrectly! Even better is the fact that angsty is not actually a word.

Well, AM, it's become common use, and since it effectively communicates an idea, I'd say it works.

Ah, that definition does fit much more with how I usually think of angst in terms of the applied insult.

But with angsty not being a word, I say off with you and your prescriptivist ways! :(

It really doesn't effectively communicate an idea, though--instead of "teen angst" meaning "anxiety as a result of social awkwardness as a result of being a teenager," it communicates some vague notion of "teen whining," and everyone has a different idea of what exactly constitutes angst.

To person A, "angst" is any expression that you have problems at all. To person B, angst is only angst if you express that you have problems in a fashion that they deem whiny. And to person C, this post is angsty, because since the internet does not necessarily communicate emotions well, the default assumption is that any post with the slightest grain of seriousness to it is ruining the internet with whining.

Well, it doesn't seem like it's causing anyone in this thread to post wildly different representatives of such things.

There's this chick. Going all nutty cuz your mom died and you got sent to Child Services and ended up on the street with crazy ice powers SHOULD count as angst-worthy...

I bet she listens to Simple Plan.

My vote's for Circuit Breaker of the Transformers US Comic mythos. She gets paralyzed as a result of a Decepticon attack, and then gets magical mind-powahz over electronics in another weird twist, fashions herself a suit consisting entirely of strips of metal over various places, and goes on a rampage to kill all Transformers because they are of TEH EVILZ OHNOES. :{{{{

She's also tres angsty and I hate her. -_-;;; Though not as much as I hate Issue #3.

Image

Didn't you ever read that old 90's Spiderman comic?

"What would happen if Spiderman was A BABY, and all his enemies were ANGSTY TEENAGERS?"

Lizard wore a black trenchcoat and eyeliner, and carried a satchel full of paint wherever he went.

ALSO... shouldn't Starscream be the Most Angsty Transformer? After all, in Cybertron he had a five-minute whine about how horrible his life was, just before he died.

Angsty as in "Doing evil stuff because they're confused, unwilling but forced to or just plain unlucky/in the wrong place!", I apologize for my misuse of the word, but I blame it on my Swedish heritage. Thank you for correcting me.

Yes, Starscream is the most angsty 'Con... but Circuit Breaker's several comics of WAAAANGST blows Starscream clean out of the sky. Trust me... she's more angsty than the Starscreams of every continuity combined.

Image

...Wait, just to be sure, is this angst _because_ she was paralyzed?

Because I really think that's one of those things you're allowed to be upset about without it being whining.

You want angst? Play Persona or SMT: Nocturne.

Hell, half the game of Revelations: Persona is dealing with how screwed up your party is.

Also, I vote Kurosu Jun from Persona 2: Innocent Sin for most angst-ridden villain.
