Actually, if I understand correctly, post-stabbity, the tonberry's "hate" for you is completely shed. So if you're in a party and you get smacked with that, you should back off immediately, because if you hit it again or heal yourself you risk drawing its attention again.

The bad news is that if the tank gets stabbed and loses all the enmity that he's built up that the tonberry is going to immediately turn and go for the white mage that's been healing him or the black mage that's been blasting him, and the tank can't exactly afford to provoke it until he gets healed again, so you have to approach these things with some strategy. They're not commonly fought EXP mobs. <p><hr /><div style="text-align:center"></div>

I imagine all the white mage needs to do is get off a quick heal and the tank will be fine to build agro/hate/etc without the risk of instant death. Unless these things hit fairly hard with their regular attack.

They definitely do, but yes, you're right--the problem is that the white mage is not going to be able to take many hits at all, so someone had better be able to pull the monster off the mage before the party is completely screwed, especially since the white mage's healing everyone the whole battle has probably built up a fair bit of hate already.

Don't be fooled. Those Trolls in Stranglethorn Vale have some pretty high-tech nets. They may look like ordinary nets, but they can stop you in mid-air, which is pretty extraordinary. <p><div style="text-align:center"></div></p>

Jak: actually, I do have a net projector, so it is theoretically possible that I could do the same thing! Except that mobs never jump. Might be worth testing out in a duel or something.

Besides, Gnomes do have that "escape artist" trait, but I just had to get a screen of that.

This vicious dragon stood between me and the ability to class-change to dragoon. I had to slay it, for the greater good!

The epic one-on-one battle lasted for nine minutes and left me with about 100 HP and 40 MP out of my totals. For reference, the battle had a 15 minute time limit. The current record was 45 seconds or so, presumably set by some group of level 75s who weres bored and wanted to unlock dragoon. <p><hr /><div style="text-align:center"></div>
