Fathers be good to your daughters-or else?

(opinions only, no research done so don't take everything I said as well documented. It's all just my musings and insight.)

It's something that in our day and age we're often bombarded with. Mothers raising their children single-handledly or fathers being abusive to their childrend, or often having to play the bad guy that hands down cold-hard discipline. Something that is often heard is how important a father's role is in the development of a ...

OK. Tell me I'm not insane:

Ok. Anyone recall that picture that KRisten made a while back on the Oekaki board, of Inu Yasha and Miroku about to kiss?

Kristen wants to make these into bookmarks and give them out at Otakon, along with her Commision sales while she's there. I told her that she can get into trouble for this because Inu Yasha and it's characters aren't her. She says I'm totally misinformed because Japan has different copyright laws. I ...

What gets your dickenses aflame?

What I mean to say is, what really ticks you off, big time?

This is really just an excuse to rant, as I'm really sick of my brother's stupid attitude towards me. Feel free to answer the question though! It will help me by possibly making my situation feel a little less utterly nerve twistingly aggrevating. :D

So. My brother has a girlfriend. She's a really really nice person, and I mean it. I talk ...

Something I've thought about doing for some time:

Every day I work, I sit and I ponder doing this. Informal as it is, it's at least good to have it written down to allow people to gaze upon it, and become inspired by it.

I have here a guideline, if you will, of how to act in a video store to make yourself not look stupid/assholish/like a potential murder victim. Some of you may say "But Shini! I never go into a video ...

Dennis Shepard

My senior year of highschool I played Dennis Shepard in The Laramie Project. It was quite the experience for me, not only because I was able to play a dramatic role (in a sense) but also because it made me much more acutely aware of homophobia in people around me. My roommate is a very liberal minded person, but some of his thoughts really bother me. But that's beside the point. Earlier this year, I ...

Grammar Nazi!

A student recently posed a question to me:

Why do we say:

"This news is nonsense to me."

and

"This game is difficult for me."?

I can't find anything on it in my grammar textbook, and the best I can come up with is that the second one is describing an activity, and the verb "to play" is implied at the end. Whereas the first one is describing a thing, and the comparison "looks like" ...
